Posted January 25, 200421 yr I continue to discover Cincinnati's ever growing club and bar scene. 2 nights and 2 visits to Cincy's Main Street. I was well surprised. There has been some negative hype about Cincinnati and nightlife and when you look at the list of cities that were ranked higher than Cincy, you know the managzine didn't do their homework. Partied at Bar Cincinnati, Rythmn and Blues Cafe, Japp's and Red Cheetah last night. Rob Base and DJ EJ Rock performed at Bar Cincinnati. They performed their 2 big songs and had a nice thong contest. :) I think it is time Cincinnati's nightlife is exposed. Red Cheetah is by far the hottest thing in Cincy right now although Club Clau is suppose to be up there but I have yet to check it out. The following are pics of some of Cincy's Nightlife: Red Cheetah - Downtown Club Clau - Downtown Bar Cincinnati - Downtown The Spy Club - Downtown Mt. Lookout Tavern - Mt. Lookout Motion Nightlife - Downtown Metropolis - Springdale Jillian's - Covington Blue Note - Price Hill Beluga's - Hyde Park Longworth's Tavern - Mt. Adams RP McMurphy's - Hyde Park
January 25, 200421 yr I've never been to a club before in my life.(I'm 23) Then again, I enjoy things that are boring to others.
January 25, 200421 yr Been to a few of those, had some good times. I used to frequent Motions often, but that was when it was Oscar's. BTW, which one of those chicks is your wife, monte?
January 26, 200421 yr Author I did not take the pictures. I have not been to all those places yet. They were taken from a website called http://www.cincyalist.com I wouldn't have a problem bringing my camera into a club except it sucks at night. I went to Mr. Pitiful's and Jefferson Hall on Friday and Bar Cincinnati, Japp's, Rythmn and Blues Cafe and Red Cheetah on Saturday. Some of which the website didn't have pics available. I have been to Longworth's in Mt. Adams but it was during the day and not at night. They have great burgers. Also been by Mt. Lookout Lavern with ColDay but we didn't go in.
January 26, 200421 yr Author All of these people should be at home reading their Bibles. For shame! Sure... Anyway I want to check out Motion's. I have heard good things about it.
December 19, 200420 yr It's Saturday night and I'm sitting at home. Celebrating early Christmas with some family I won't see a week from now really wore me out. Anyway, I'll just pretend I'm partying. Tanqueray and tonic, please.
December 19, 200420 yr ^ I think that would be Club Clau you're talking about. Interestingly enough, it's closed.
December 19, 200420 yr im more of a corner bar kinda guy. i'd have to say im glad places like this exist for the 21-25 crowd, when I was that age I definitely spend my share of time starting at hot chicks at clubs like those above.
December 20, 200420 yr Yawn.......I'm a married man now, I have more important and fun things to do..mow the grass, clean grout, gutters etc. I am a corner pub guy myself too 8-)
December 20, 200420 yr im more of a corner bar kinda guy. Oh, me too. I actually never go to clubs. My rule is that if I have to talk over loud music, it's not for me.
December 20, 200420 yr Yawn.......I'm a married man now, I have more important and fun things to do..mow the grass, clean grout, gutters etc. I am a corner pub guy myself too 8-) i feel your pain. we should organize a corner bar round up for us corner bar guys. shoot darts drink some PBR etc.

December 25, 200420 yr the "bar ______ " is still around? cleveland's closed like 5 years ago also, was that dr. dre?
December 31, 200420 yr Now that I think about it, I need another one of those nights again. Funny most of those pics are blocked at my work now. cincyalist.com has been banned by websense :( That's why you've got to set up you're own proxy at home like me :)
December 31, 200420 yr Clau's last night of existence is New Year's Eve (tonight). The owners have chosen to close on top. Rumor has it they will be re-opening another club in 2005.
April 25, 200619 yr Clear the air O2 Fresh oxygen bar gives patrons a little lift GIL KAUFMAN ENQUIRER CONTRIBUTOR Each day, you breathe in and out approximately 20,000 times without thinking much about it. So why would you pay money to be hooked up to a machine to breathe, in a mall? Because it might help that headache, or perk you up a bit, or maybe just make you slow down and take a few really deep breaths in the midst of a hectic day. That's what sisters Stephanie and Laurie Marra hope. The business partners opened the O2 Fresh oxygen bar at Tower Place mall downtown, in 2004, after falling in love with the concept while visiting the West Coast a few years ago. What was originally a kiosk bumped up to a full storefront last year, offering not just hits of 92 percent pure oxygen - the air we normally breathe has about 20 percent oxygen - but also aromatherapy products and other holistic soaps, luxury bath items and oxygen-enhanced body sprays. "Really, it was visually appealing at first, but it's good for you and a very pleasant experience," says Stephanie, who also helps costume the casts of visiting Broadway shows when she's not manning the space-age looking machines with her sister. "It's something you can do to give yourself a little lift that's not harmful for your body." The Cincinnati Enquirer reports on the full story.
April 25, 200619 yr I paid like 10 bucks to use the one at the Levee but only because I wanted to talk to the hot blonde that worked at the kiosk. She gave me this liquid stuff to rub on the temple by my eyes, it had peppermint in it, I'm not sure what it was suppose to do but I missed and got it in my eyes and my eyes started burning really bad :(. I don't know if the oxygen made me high or not, I was too worried about my eyes at the moment.
June 27, 200618 yr Has anyone been to The Poison Room, located on the corner of 5th and Plum? It used to be the Viper Room, and before that it was the Spy Club. My husband and I plan on going there this weekend to see a band we like, and I was wondering how people usually dress there. Or is it one of those things where it depends on what band is playing? I remember going to that location once when it was the Spy Club. I felt slightly out of place because I wasn't wearing enough black clothing. ;)
June 27, 200618 yr I know a guy that plays in a band there sometimes and I know a few people that go there. I'm pretty sure they mostly dress "punk" since that's the genre of music for most of the shows. Just remember that as long as you look comfortable in your surroundings, you'll never look out of place ;)
June 27, 200618 yr The band we're going to see isn't punk, so maybe it depends on the type of music playing that night. Thanks for the info, though. :)
June 29, 200618 yr I was there recently to see a friend's band (not punk) and it was still a pretty rock n roll crowd. We went straight there from dinner at Bella and we were definately overdressed, but I can fit in anywhere they are serving IC Light on tap 8-)
April 20, 200718 yr since i've been living in the city of cincinnati, everyone talks about the lack of nightlife downtown. the banks is a perfect environment to have a mini wrigleyville. I look forward to it
April 20, 200718 yr ^Everyone complains that nothing is going on, jeez pick up a frickin city beat. There's plenty of nightlife. I guess downtown could be a little better.
April 21, 200718 yr Anyone been to Aqua on a night when they have a dj? It's not quite like the above clubs (dancing and girls trying to look like 3rd rate models) but it's a cool scene for sure.
April 22, 200718 yr Author I have been to Aqua for some incredible sushi but never when they had a DJ.
April 22, 200718 yr It doesn't make a good atmosphere for deep conversation but I'd recommend checking it out. I went on a Wednesday at maybe 9:30ish. They have x amount (can't remember) off on sushi and martinis too.
April 23, 200718 yr Anyone been to Aqua on a night when they have a dj? It's not quite like the above clubs (dancing and girls trying to look like 3rd rate models) but it's a cool scene for sure. Where is Aqua and do they have anything besides seafood? I have friends that love Sushi but I just don't like seafood in any form.
April 24, 200718 yr in mt lookout square there is also nectar, they are supposed to have good food but it is a little pricey
April 24, 200718 yr Aqua might not be your thing then. I could be wrong but I do think it's mostly Asian seafood of sorts. Their website wasn't working when I tried to check it (www.aquacincy.com) but here's what the Enquirer had to say: "Menu: Sushi plus Asian-European dishes like Kobe beef carpaccio with enoki mushrooms or sesame walleye with plums, leeks, tofu and lemongrass ginger broth. The menu changes frequently." Even if you're not into having dinner you could go with your friends for drinks later in the evening.
April 24, 200718 yr Yeah. I have a Japanese grandpa and I've stayed with him several summers and was forced to eat rice and seaweed, raw fish along with Miso soup for BREAKFAST. Almost everything they eat is either from the sea or contains tofu. No thanks. I love me some Chicken Teriyaki and noodles though. : D
April 30, 200718 yr Aqua, has stuff besides seafood and sushi. The time I went there I got a delicious pork dish. I'm pretty sure they have beef and chicken meals too. I higly recommend Aqua, the place is awesome.

November 9, 200717 yr Blue Wisp gets second wind Four music lovers buy it from estate BY STEPFANIE ROMINE | CINCINNATI ENQUIRER November 9, 2007 DOWNTOWN - The Blue Wisp Jazz Club, a fixture on the Cincinnati music scene for more than three decades, is staying open and staying put, say its new owners. A quartet of Cincinnati businessmen - who have known one another since their days at Walnut Hills High School - bought the club, at 318 E. Eighth St., downtown, for an undisclosed amount last week, after outbidding two other groups.
November 9, 200717 yr Call for Table & Bottle Reservations. For Presale, VIP, & Table Reservations please feel free to contact [email protected] OR [email protected]. Ugh. It's so annoying when you go to a meat market club and they run out of a good Dom Perignon vintage '85 rose magnum.
December 5, 200717 yr Dude, you should really just go. Like, tonight. It's not like you need to know the secret code to get in. I imagine they'll have that at Speakeasy.
