Posted August 13, 200816 yr here's an oddball for us to chew on. this vinyl-sided development quirk is a new one on me. perhaps a new architectural low? how deep is that low well anyway? and it's conveniently located in northern bklyn, so cue up the opportunity to rip on hipsters  :wtf: http://curbed.com/uploads/vinyl_528med.jpg yeah, nice instant warping they got there! :-o http://curbed.com/uploads/vinylClose1_528med.jpg more -- thx to curbed: http://curbed.com/archives/2008/08/13/sweet_nostalgia_for_greenpoints_luxury_vinyl_siding.php#reader_comments
August 13, 200816 yr I saw these when they were first going up. I liked the look of what I saw then, but it was without the vinyl siding, so I didn't have the full picture. I really love the metallic look of the vinyl sans warping. The execution, though, is a huge problem. This is obviously not a good material to use for this type of look. It LOOKS like someone just slapped some material on there and called it a day. LOL.
August 13, 200816 yr the whole idea of the use of vinyl siding for a structure like this just has me scratching my head in slackjawed shock.
August 14, 200816 yr thats vinyl? It look like kind of like warped sheet metel. if it did not look warped it may look fine...hopefully it wears well? Anyway I keep an open mind to different, even unpopular, materials (except stucco. outside of mexico or new mexico, no good).
August 14, 200816 yr yep, that's vinyl. next time i go over there....please god let it not be soon, ha!....i'll take my camera & see if i can get better shots.
August 14, 200816 yr I can see where they were going with this, but the choice in material should have been different. Stainless steel would have been impressive.
August 14, 200816 yr Zinc panels would have been much cooler. http://www.vmzinc-us.com/70.aspx https://www.instagram.com/cle_and_beyond/https://www.instagram.com/jbkaufer/
August 22, 200816 yr well, at least it looks better than what i imagined when i read " seen it all yet? how's about a vinyl-sided new apt tower? "
August 23, 200816 yr I know, I was literally picturing ye old country house sheathing on a highrise building. I actually wonder what is the tallest vinyl sided structure.
August 24, 200816 yr I was thinking more along the lines of this except 5 times as tall http://www.donohoeconstruction.com/images/solomons.large.jpg
