Former OSR the setting for spookumentary

The Ohio State Reformatory, in Mansfield, has been the site of many Hollywood productions, the most famous being The Shawshank Redemption and Air Force One. Prison museum sprouting at former reformatory

MANSFIELD -- The Ohio Prison Museum, displaying historic artifacts from throughout the state's 32 prison institutions, will open in January inside the Ohio State Reformatory.

 

The museum will be operated by the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction in cooperation with the Mansfield Reformatory Preservation Society, the nonprofit group that operates the 100 Reformatory Road prison-turned-museum.

 

Ed Meehan, a volunteer with Mansfield Reformatory Preservation Society, on Monday said the new museum will be on the first, second and third floors of the west administrative wing of the prison.

 

Meehan said prison wardens are already sending items. A curator from the state prison will set up the exhibits.

Zac Bagans promises that after tonight, you'll be a believer.

 

The host and lead investigator on the Travel Channel's "Ghost Adventures" said he and investigators Nick Groff and Aaron Goodwin visited the Mansfield prison in June.
