Hey,

a friend and I are travelling to ohio [we're from ireland/england] and are looking to rent somewhere for 2-3 months around the broadview heights area. We plan on visiting some friends in the area and really using the place as a base to do some travelling round the rest of the US.

We're having a bit of bother finding a decent 2 bed place that we can rent for that sort of short term, would anyone have any suggestions of apartment buildings or rental companies that would do this? Would be handy if it was furnished, obviously we're not too keen on buying a bunch of stuff only to have to sell it after, but we'd sort it out if the place was nice enough.

Thanks in advance for any help.

There aren't that many places that do short term leases, and many of them are in downtown proper.  I know of a couple of places in Westlake that I think do short-term, but not Broadview.

You may have to end up getting a place downtown; are you open to that?

I did a search on apartments.com for furnished places downtown, west side and SW side and found several options; try that?

The only two that come to mind are

WT Grant downtown (you can still take out shorter leases, correct?)

Alcazar in Cleveland Hts

Neither are that close to Broadview hts though

I also was looking for a short term rental and found that some companies will do it but will charge you a month and a half rent for each month. Also the ones that specialize in short term rental were just outrageously priced.  So, what I finally did was to take out a years lease even though we only plan to stay until we buy a home. Then, I plan to advertise on Craigslit to get someone to take over the lease. The Ohio rental laws state that a company cannot double charge for rent.  Also, my lease agreement states I can get out of the lease by finding someone else to take over. I may lose the security deposit though.  If you go on Craigs list there is often people who advertise that they want someone to take over their lease. Maybe you could find someone who has to move and only has two or three months left on the lease. Another option is call the city Broadview heights and see if they have a relocation office or housing office. Sometimes they keep a list of people who will rent out part of their home or a room or two, (often on a month to month basis).  I did this for Cleveland Heights and there were lots of people willing to rent month to month. The Cleveland Heights Housing office gave me the list of people to call.
