I was bored lol

Nice! Philadelphia is a photogenic city.

I'm headed for Pennsylvania later this week and hope to make a day-trip into Center City during my visit. Mostly I'll be in the Lancaster area, I think, and there's frequent Amtrak service that only takes about an hour.

Looking at some of my archives, I just realized that I haven't been there since 1991. It's time for a refresher.

Philly looks great! I need to get up there...

Philly is my 3rd favorite city that I've been to...love the shots.  I need to get back there and spend some quality time with the city.

Just curious, what are the other two you like more than Philly? I actually like Philly more than Chicago. Philly is probably a second place tie with D.C for me. First place being NYC. If only NYC had D.C.'s subway system, it would be perfect lol

Oh Philly......

Oh uh......lonely row

I know man, that sh!t is sad. I'm sure at one time, that area was really dense. The places with bike lanes and streetcars in Philly tend to be the most crime ridden, blighted areas.

There are some areas in Philly that are REALLY bad. The run down areas are not in good shape at all.

My friend's aunt, who lives in a Philly suburb, said that when she's caught in that area late at night, she runs the red traffic lights. Now, I'm not sure if it's racism or a valid concern for personal safety .. maybe both.

I think it's a valid concern. Philly can get really bad. Lots of Cincinnati Avondales/Walnut Hills. On the other hand, Philly has some extremely rich areas and places in between. I think Philly was the murder capital though or close to it this year or the year before. Like most cities, it has a little bit of everything but when its bad, it's really bad.

Dude, I'm just happy that city has buildings.

Much love for Philly, even though I effed my ankle there on there.  Don't ever walk on those steel sidewalk grates!  They collapse!

1. NYC (NYC = THE city)

2. DC (gets the edge over Philly for a superior subway system, and fewer bad spots as has been mentioned)

3. Philly (Philly better watch out for when I travel to San Francisco though)

No argument about NYC, but DC has tons of bad spots too, probably as much as Philly. In DC you stick to NW and only go to NE, SE, and SW quadrants during the day (with some obvious exceptions i.e. half of the mall is techically SW, and the Capitol Hill neighborhood is great). DC has some great neighborhoods to be sure, but they're mostly all in NW, and I find many of them lack character.

DC has tons of character in the neighborhoods yet the problem are the transplants.

^Yes that's what I meant.  Many people just aren't attached to their neighborhood because DC is rarely a long term home for people.  Great physical, built character, but the populace views the neighborhoods more as a place to live than as their home.  Of course there are exceptions: Parts of Georgetown, Tenleytown, and many of the predominantly black neighborhoods come to mind, but the city is in such a period of transition, that majority of DC's multi generational families (the black population of NE and SE) are being pushed into PG county and beyond.

Indeed.  So in that sense, it's like Manhattan.

nice shots... but where are the Verizon vans?

Verizon has a restraining order against me and thus I can't be within 500 feet of an employee, eversince I called them and harassed them about my bill.

I'll share my settlement money with you after I get cancer and sue for all that humming equipment they have behind my office wall.
