August 21, 200816 yr Motorcycles part of Harvest Home car show By Kurt Backscheider [email protected] August 20, 2008 http://communitypress.cincinnati.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/C2/20080820/LIFE/808200355/ CHEVIOT - Several hogs will be on display at this year's Harvest Home Fair, but not only in the livestock tent. The car show at the Biggest Little Fair in Ohio will feature six to eight Harley-Davidson motorcycles from Harley-Davidson of Cincinnati. "That's new for this year," said Green Township resident Bob Westendorf, the Cheviot-Westwood Kiwanis Club member who organizes the fair's car show each year...
August 21, 200816 yr Schools on the Westside practically shut down for the Harvest Home Fair. I remember homework assignments being put on hold, some students leaving early, etc. Might as well be a holiday on the Westside.
August 21, 200816 yr ^YUP, I used to love it because we got out of football practice early from the middle and high schools!!!
August 21, 200816 yr I remember marching in the Harvest Home Parade when I was in Girl Scouts. That was fun. I don't think I've even been to the fair since high school, and I graduated 14 years ago. Wow...I suddenly feel old....
August 21, 200816 yr Sounds like a nice event but I don't think I could ever muster up the courage to attend :-D http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4yTidt7qqxs
August 22, 200816 yr ^Oh come on, a wackjob cultchurch headed by Bette Davis?!? Sign me up!!! clevelandskyscrapers.com Cleveland Skyscrapers on Instagram
August 22, 200816 yr How about an UrbanOhio meet at the fair? :-D (By the way - you can see the Cincinnati skyline from the top of the AstroWheel.)
August 22, 200816 yr Never heard of this before! It's weird that the Westside apparently shuts down for this, and my family and friends haven't even heard of it. Gotta love Cincinnati...
August 22, 200816 yr The east side. My parents live in Evendale on the Blue Ash border and that's really as far west as we go haha.
August 22, 200816 yr Cool. Yea, it's a westside thang fo sho! The biggest dfference from most other festivals we have is it resembles a county fair more than a festival. Through the months of June thru Aug. we have a festival somewhere just about every week. (With all the churches and schools over here.) This is pretty much the finale kicked off with the parade on Thurs. They begin lining Harrison Ave through Cheviot with lawn chairs about two days before the parade. It draws one hell of a crowd!!!
August 23, 200816 yr ^Sounds fun! In highschool I used to like going to some of the different festivals (Junefest at Cardinal Pacelli, All Saints fest, St. Michael, St. Gertrudes, OLSH) and they were always fun, but the most fun I've ever had at a festival was definitely the Greek Festival in Fineytown--so fun
August 24, 200816 yr ^Nothing beats a Greek or Italian Festival, ..All of them are great times! (Alot of experience at these!) Never been to the F-town one though. I will have to check that out!
August 29, 200816 yr West side prepares for annual parade By Kurt Backscheider [email protected] August 28, 2008 http://communitypress.cincinnati.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/C2/20080828/NEWS/808280403/ CHEVIOT - Labor Day is typically the unofficial end of summer. Not in Cheviot. For most westsiders, the sign autumn is just around the corner arrives with the annual Harvest Home Parade...
August 29, 200816 yr Tradition still reigns at Harvest Home Fair Contributed By Shauna Steigerwald | The Enquirer http://rodeo.cincinnati.com/getlocal/gpstory.aspx?id=100111&sid=134538 Tradition. Thats the short answer Harvest Home Fair chair Pete Minges gives when asked what keeps 20,000 to 25,000 people coming back to the event year after year. The parade and the fair are just something you grow up with, especially if you grew up on the West Side of Cincinnati, he said. We have families who came as kids and are now bringing their kids and grandkids...
September 4, 200816 yr Harvest Home Parade Preps Underway Last Update: 12:30 am http://www.wcpo.com/news/local/story.aspx?content_id=ec826aa0-c87b-417b-9f28-bb64e27f2d12 It's one of the biggest events of the year on the West Side, and it's never too early to get started. The annual Harvest Home parade starts at 6 p.m. Thursday night. Folks were already setting up their chairs Wednesday night to get the best view..
September 4, 200816 yr ^Do people ever buy new folding chairs, or is that image the same one used for the 1982 Harvest Home Fair?
September 4, 200816 yr Never heard of it. The entertainment doesn't sound very entertaining to me though..I think I'll pass.
September 5, 200816 yr Awesome night for the parade! Very large turnout too!! Mr Mallory was in attendance, plus all the other politicians.
September 5, 200816 yr Some pics from last night! http://news.cincinnati.com/apps/pbcs.dll/gallery?Site=AB&Date=20080905&Category=NEWS01&ArtNo=809040809&Ref=PH
