While on the elevator at work today I saw someone carrying very large blueprints for 1375 Euclid.  There was a stamp on them from March 2008 but I didn't get any other details.

What project is going on here?

I tried to search for it but didn't see much on it so if there is a thread on this that I can't find I'm sure this will be merged.

1375 is the Ideastream building across from star plaza.  Must just be a tennant redoing their space...

But I like your investigative style.  8-)

who needs commercial real estate brokers when you've got craigslist?  find a drummer, a used couch or 32,000 square feet of class-a office space!

Probably old blueprints of work that was already done.

Nope.  From what I have heard there is a new performance based space being developed there.  Don't know off hand.  I'll see what I can dig up at work this week...

I saw this going in on the idea stream building today so i stopped and pestered the construction workers to find out what was going on...  Apparently a big vertical sign.  Inbetween each of these aluminum stand offs will be a "drum" spelling out I-D-E-A.  Could be cool...

Awesome.  Fully aware of the irony, I think we could use a lot more world class signage around here.  Barrages of lit up signs are an aspect of urban scenery that we're currently short on.

^I never saw that go through design review. I would have thought that it would have. Also, the Statler Arms got a sign today.

I posted a pic of the statler sign in random Cleveland develoments.

funny... I had one of my urban nerd dreams last night and it was about Playhouse Square signage!

Oh my.....

right?  come on... tell me you haven't had one.

:weird: You should probably keep that to yourself............just like i do

Can't say that I remember any......  But my dreams are of the type that involve my friends and family in abnormal places or situations, so I don't know that I would even be able to have a dream about Cleveland.  By the way, have those letters gone up today?

Hmmm .. interesting new thread idea?

I've had dreams (it's actually been a recurring dream) of the mass transit being so good in Cleveland that I'd be able to hop from train to train to get me around Cleveland. Only they look more like NYC subway cars.

OK, we have to start a new thread or this will go on for pages.  McCleveland, post those snaps when the letters are up!  I'll bring my camera to the event tomorrow, so if they're up, I'll get a shot.

Just looked out my window (i work in USBank Centre) and noticed they installed an enormous sign on the Ideastream building...it appears that each letter will turn and says "I D E A" the whole down the side of the building - so makes each letter about 15ft big or so...

Cool!  So they spin around I take it?

they are currently not spinnging - but they appear they will light up and spin

I love it!

Thanks Mayor and Freethink  - cool pic location.  Make sure to get some of the HL. hint, hint.

freethink's view is cooler than mine.  :)

Laaaaaaaaaaaawd!  LMAO!

Speaking of views... could someone please get off their lazy ass and replace those 4 panes of glass on the 3rd floor window of the United Way Building?

Very nice!

Do we agree the new emphasis on [world class] signage started with the development on East 4th and has begun to spread?

Good.  I was gonna puke if I saw one more business put up some flappity banner instead of a real sign.

This sign reminds me of the type of signage you see at Times Square. It'll fit in really nicely with the bright marquees of Playhouse Square!

That looks awesome!  Bold, colorful and cool, not cheesy.

Very cool... I like it a lot:

By the way Freethink, where'd you get that photo?  Is that a webcam?

MapBoy, great photos!

Agreed...it looks great.  Thanks for the awesome photos Map Boy.

Walked past the sign tonight and it wasnt lit up yet, does anyone know when it is supposed to be lit? Oh yeah, and it looks awesome!

Yes it is a webcam. It provides hours of geeky fun for the whole family. You can point and zoom down Euclid. And now that I posted it, I hope we don't burn it out. SHHH, so keep it on the DL.

Like a Bus BRT RTV RapidTransit SilverLine RTV (whatever) in the night...

if I had known that thing existed during construction of that area of Euclid, I would have been fired.

On my walk to Cleveland State today there were 3 workers right underneath the IDEA signs on Euclid. There was a sign (6' by 2' maybe) being unwrapped on the ground and a part of the building facade cut out under the A. I didnt get a chance to see it on the way back since i walked back a different way, but looks like more signage going up.

The new signage is a block under I-D-E-A that says "center".
