Posted August 2, 200519 yr Welcome to the neighborhood of the Northside. I have posted a photo thread of the Northside about a year and a half ago but I totally wiped those photos out and started fresh with all new photos taken last week. Northside is Cincinnati's "Gayborhood" but by the many New York named stores you might as well call it "Little New York" and the architecture could lead one to believe it for a minute or so. Northside is one of Cincinnati's more eclectic neighborhoods that offer a wide array of shopping, dining and living and caters to a diverse and open minded crowd. The neighborhood sits tucked in a valley surrounded by beautiful hills, in reasonable proximity to the University of Cincinnati and Cincinnati State. You can find more photos of Cincinnati at: http://www.cincyimages.com You gotta love Cincinnati's beautiful schools... Being a New Yorker myself, I love the fixation with NY in the Northside A row of rehabs... New York's Latest yet no Knicks, Mets or Jets gear... Answer the question... What is a Cincinnati neighborhood without a Chili or Ice Cream Parlor?
August 2, 200519 yr Awesome photos! That looks like a great neighborhood. P.S. Those little row cottages are just Adorable!
August 2, 200519 yr Wonderfully done! A great neighborhood...unfortunately, I don't think it's on the rebound, but maybe someday...
August 3, 200519 yr What a great neighborhood. I just spent time there today, in fact. I try to get there at least once a week! X...those row cottages are being rehabbed and are being sold for $140,000. Here's their website: http://www.molinecourt.com/
August 3, 200519 yr I didn't see any alternative lifestyle dwellers. :| what's up with that? lol show me some eyecandy! :-o
August 3, 200519 yr In reference to Northside being Cincinnati's "gayborhood" and lack of evidence of such in the photos: One of the coolest things about Northside is that you can't pick the gays out on the street. They look exactly like "normal" people  There are a high concentration of gay bars in Northside and Northside is the site of the annual Pride Parade (you missed it by a month or so, monte). There is a billboard at the "entrance" to Northside ("entrance" to Northside depicted in the first photo) that often has advertisements for things like Pride Day at Kings Island, etc. on it. Northside is a cool area in many respects. Dale - opaquephotos.com
August 3, 200519 yr "They look exactly like "normal" people" Oh no, we simply can't have that! Well that rules out my ever moving to Cincy! I'm too old to have to take the time and guess if they know the 'secret handshake'! I've been to Northside and like others have mentioned, it's a neat area. I loved stopping in Shake It Records, and had some fantastic meals at Boca. A good friend of mine used to work at Paris (the tiara people) so I'm pretty familiar with the area. That said, it's the scruffiest of the major 'gayborhoods' in Ohio's Big 3 (Short North in Columbus, Edgewater/Clifton in Cleveland). I wouldn't ever want the area stripped and sanitized of its charm but I think it needs a little more polish. clevelandskyscrapers.com Cleveland Skyscrapers on Instagram

Thanks goodness for the "our eyes have met - message received" look! lol Like Edgewater/Clifton, here on Shaker Square, being a card carrying member of the club is pretty obvious. Although i've never been to a club/bar in cincy, but based on these pics, the neighborhood could use a little "zhuzzing up"
August 4, 200519 yr I remember the first gay-related thing in that area was the old Crazy Ladies bookstore, which was not gay, really, but feminist, but they did have alot of GLBT books and stuff, as well as "womens music", as well as some fun calendars and witty political buttons. I used to stop off there on the way home from my periodic Cincy visits. The area around it was pretty shabby at the time, though.

October 12, 200717 yr Cool thread. We need an updated Northside thread! I would do it but my camera is terrible to the point where it's just embarassing.
October 12, 200717 yr Ahh, my old thread. Proof that you should never use Picasa to process photos. All those photos could use a good cleansing through Photoshop :)
October 12, 200717 yr Great thread indeed. I like how prominenet the Hamilton Ave. signs are. Cool thread. We need an updated Northside thread! I would do it but my camera is terrible to the point where it's just embarrassing. I took a bunch of Northside photos this summer; I should get around to posting them. Of course, my camera is crap too.
October 16, 200717 yr Woah! Milwaukee has a Comet Cafe too, in a very similar building: Okay, they're not exactly the same, but there are some definite similarities.
October 16, 200717 yr I'm too old to have to take the time and guess if they know the 'secret handshake'! Thanks goodness for the "our eyes have met - message received" look! lol Or the secret password ("Friend of Dorothy")
