The Land has been one of the nicknames for Cleveland since the mid-90s at least, specifically within the Black Community and within Hip-Hop culture. That along with C-Town, which more people may be fa

  • massive team effort & big win on espn vs okc tonight — awesome game and superb coaching and substitutions — anyway, i watched most of it out, but the end back at our dystopian atlanta hotel - 😂🎉

  • Great win! Six-and-one!! Great to see Garland and Mitchell together for a full game. Those two are going to be magical as they play together more.

Well it doesn't fit the sustainability mold...but I can make an exception for King James!  I'm glad he's establishing roots in Cleveland...I wish we saw more hometown loyalty like this in sports today!

  • 3 weeks later...

Looks like Cleveland has got home court advantage for the 1st round :)

^ They will need it against the Heat.

The Heat are going down.....down, down, down!  But there is still the possibility that the Cavs could play the Nets in the 1st round...right??  Seeing how they took care of them the other night, that would be a great match up for them!

Put Pollard in and hack at D.Wade's shoulder!!!

I'm ruthless when it comes to getting a Cleveland championship ;)

well where have you been for the last 37 years?

Props to the pope....he called the Cavs a 4 seed...they'll be a 5 unless a damn miracle happens.

LETS GO NETS!!!!  (for now)

If the Cavs win, will they be a no. 2 seed?  or do orlando, nj and indi have to win to secure the no. 2 spot?

Chicago has to lose for the Cavs to get #2 (so, yes the Nets have to win). Near the end of the 3rd quarter, Nets up by 4 over the Bulls.

Well...the Nets are about to seal the deal.  Up 10 with 1:59 to play...and clearly controlling the game.

what is this, our third winning season in a row?

Nice!!!!

We got the Wizards first round...No Butler or Arenas! Hopefully the Cavs will keep it together this post-season and won't implode. I think we have the chance to make the finals, but it's going to take a miracle to beat the Mavericks...Although Mavs vs Cavs sounds good!

Don't count your chickens...

The Cavs have to win and get past Round 1 first.  We'll have to work from there after that.  If the finals are in the future, then FANTASTIC...I hope you're right!

I'm being optimistic! I'm going to close my eyes and look through my fingers the whole way!

nice note to end the season.

This year, they averaged 20,347 fans for 41 home dates - breaking the franchise record set in 1994, their first year at Quicken Loans Arena.

However, MSN didn't realize that it was "Gund" Arena until this year.

Wow, this is great for the Cavs! We play a depleted Wizards team in the first round. Then, we'd play the winner of New Jersey-Toronto.  All the while, we have home court advantage. This helps us because we're playing easier teams and because it means more likely dollars for downtown businesses.  Now, the Cavs just have to go out and win.

If we had lost tonight or if the Bulls had won, we would have had to face the Heat in the first round and the Pistons without home court advantage in the second round (most likely).

Let's go Cavs and the downtown economy!

Well put, that is really the most important thing about getting home court advantage!  More $$$

I couldn't agree more. The only way the Cavs have a road series in the Eastern Conference is if they play the Pistons, which wouldn't be until the Eastern Conference Finals. This is a win-win for the organization and the city.

Isn't this the first back-to-back 50-win seasons since Ehlo, Daugherty, Price, Hot Rod, etc.?

I'm going to the Cavs playoff game tomorrow.

They better win this series...(and do so 4-0)

^i would be ok with a win in 5. That gives the downtown businesses another home game :)

The news here in DC is that Butler could be back around game 3 or 4, so five or god forbid six isn't impossible. Bulter's addition would make the series more interesting...but without Arenass the Wiz ship looks sunk.

97-82, we're up 1-0

the boys looked pretty good!

Yeah, a little slow in the begining, but they pulled it together. Great job. Got a little scared there when Lebron went down.

^

Definitely.  Those who live downtown or who have been lately - who's jerseys are hanging from the Terminal Tower?  I took a cab to/from Tremont yesterday and couldn't read the numbers from the Innerbelt.

Very cool, btw.

No ones, it is 07 for 2007 playoffs, and name on the jersey is the cavs new theme...Rise up

Towering over Cleveland

CLEVELAND, Apr. 18th - Like beacons signaling to the community that something BIG is about to happen, four gigantic 35’ x 25’ Cavaliers jerseys hang from high atop Cleveland’s most famous landmark, Terminal Tower.  The jerseys symbolize the celebration of the Cavaliers’ appearance in the 2007 NBA Playoffs, which begins this Sunday, April 22nd vs. the Washington Wizards at Quicken Loans Arena.

The Cavs playoff theme RISE UP! is emblazoned on the navy and wine jerseys, which are displayed front and back on each of the four quadrants of the tower.  RISE UP! is a call to action for players, fans and the entire community to come together in support of the Cavaliers as they move onward and upward through the NBA Playoffs.

I took a picture yesterday (I hope this shows up!)

Thanks for the pic jamiec.  Again everyone, they're on all four sides.

Go Cleveland!

thats pretty cool!

i think the cavs whipping the wizards got me over the shock of the tribe being destroyed by the short-handed yankees.

Negative Nineteen action news did an OK job on their story about gettting to the Cavs game and Indians Game Wednesday They started out by saying "downtown is a torn up mess" went into how Euclid is torn up because of the ECP, then said "Plenty to do downtown, just give yourself time to do it" They interviewed the RTA spokesman and he said "take the train" and highlighted the walkway to gateway from Tower city. Just thought I'd mention it.

C-A-V-S.....CAVS, CAVS, CAVS!

GAME 3 at Washington

Make it 3-0

Cavs 98, Wiz 92. If they can beat the Wiz on Monday night it'll be the first seven-game series sweep ever for the Cavs! :)

I think this quote is very interesting.  I not really sure what I want....but it also gives the opportunity to go to the game and see the final win at home as well.

well what do you expect after all the years of agony with embarrassing two-bit hucksters like nick mileti and ted stepian and later a billionaire owner who for some reason would never go that extra mile.

Can't wait for that Cavs-Bulls ECF. :)

ooh, smalk talkin'!

Well it will be fun.

I know it's UrbanOhio and all that...but you do you guys think the Mavs are done?

^Golden State, seems to be a very poor match-up for them.  I think Mavs are definately done.

I love the GS logo & mascot!  Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay cool!  Best in the NBA!

SWEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :-D

Interesting note.  All three teams in the Eastern Conference Central advanced, and did it 4-0.

Detroit

Chicago

Cleveland

SWEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :-D

Yeah Baaaaabyyyyyyy.  Now I hope Toronto/NJ goes 7 games so the cavs can get a lil rest.!  LOL

Good call LASam....but 111-86, damn who knew? If the Suns get knocked off somewhere down the road....the East has a better than fair chance of getting the title again. I dare say it, but maybe finally it's the Cavs turn. We'll see,

Lets face it, the cavs haven't exactly played to dominate, they've done just enough to win.  Yes, a W is a W.

I don't want us to get ahead of ourselves, whoever we get next, toronto or NJ, will be not just roll over and play dead.  I don't wont NJ.  I think Toronto will be an easier team to beat, but in the NBAs second season...nothing is guaranteed....just ask Dallas.

NJ is no joke....we can thank them for the two seed. They look especially good after the Bulls just destroyed the Heat. I don't care though MTS, I'm for once in my sports life, getting my hopes up. (ok twice, I thought the Tribe had the Florida Fish) ;)
