Lets face it, the cavs haven't exactly played to dominate, they've done just enough to win.  Yes, a W is a W.

I don't want us to get ahead of ourselves, whoever we get next, toronto or NJ, will be not just roll over and play dead.  I don't wont NJ.  I think Toronto will be an easier team to beat, but in the NBAs second season...nothing is guaranteed....just ask Dallas.

NJ is no joke....we can thank them for the two seed. They look especially good after the Bulls just destroyed the Heat. I don't care though MTS, I'm for once in my sports life, getting my hopes up. (ok twice, I thought the Tribe had the Florida Fish) ;)

Yeah the people in my office are telling me how the Nets are gonna whip the Cavs, like the Yankees swept the Indians earlier this year.  (that was hard pill to swallow), I just want the boys to stay focused and not get caught up in the hype.

The Land has been one of the nicknames for Cleveland since the mid-90s at least, specifically within the Black Community and within Hip-Hop culture. That along with C-Town, which more people may be fa

  • massive team effort & big win on espn vs okc tonight — awesome game and superb coaching and substitutions — anyway, i watched most of it out, but the end back at our dystopian atlanta hotel - 😂🎉

  • Great win! Six-and-one!! Great to see Garland and Mitchell together for a full game. Those two are going to be magical as they play together more.

Bring on the Nats...I mean Nets!

ROUND TWO--Cavs Playoff Schedule:

Game 1: Sunday, at Cleveland, 1 p.m. (WEWS Ch. 5)

Game 2: Tuesday, at cleveland, 8 p.m. (TNT)

Game 3: Saturday, May 12, at New Jersey, 5 p.m. (ESPN)

Game 4: Monday, May 14, at New Jersey, 7 p.m. (TNT)

Game 5: Wednesday, May 16, at Cleveland, TBD (TNT)

Game 6: Friday, May 18, at New Jersey, TBD (ESPN)

Game 7: Sunday, May 20, at Cleveland, TBD (TNT)

Why do the announcers keep saying things like:

"we'll be back from Ohio"

"we're here in Ohio"

DAMNIT...You're in Cleveland!  :whip: :x :x

Somebody, light a fire under those research folks at ABC/ESPN!

I agree they are the CLEVELAND cavaliers, who ACTUALLY play IN Cleveland. I do like the shots of the skyline and the lake they are getting though and saying things like "from the Shores of Lake Erie."

Well they finally said, "right here in Downtown Cleveland".

Now if we can keep kidd scoreless, force more turnovers and get Z and Larry into a scoring rhythm we can win this.

LeBron has a cold??

OHH YEAAHHHH!!

Cavs 1-0 ...81-77

That block by Sasha was nasty...frikin clutch.

Cavs clearly out-muscled NJ.  LeBron has a bad cold; we shoot poorly, and still win... Cavs in 6.

Cavs are the real deal this year. :)

one game at a time kids, one game at a time....

True dat...  We must take care of biz, tuesday, for if we don't, all bets are off... But if we win, I'm certain we'd win in 6, maybe 5... hell, maybe even sweep the damn thing.  I've got a sneaking suspicion a collision course with those dreaded Pistons is in our future.

I'll dedicate the Rosary for Tuesday's game.  Who has game 3?

maybe that's because they are playing the nj nets, a city-less state team and they want to equal it up? heh - i dk. still, you can bet when they move to brooklyn those announcers will be all over themselves calling them the brooklyn nets. ugh.

forget that, i was more worried to see that jay-z was in the lebron posse seats. you know he's trying to rope bron over the the nets.

i know they play kind of even, but regardless of how the series goes the cavs are a better team than the nets. they really should win it.

I noticed that to. I also wondered if anyone else has noticed how he has been throwing up Jay'Z's diamond symbol lately. Also how in his contract he has commited to three years (about the time the new nets arena will be finished) with an option for a fourth year.

Musical showdown a no-show

Monday, May 07, 2007

Jodie Valade

Plain Dealer Reporter

It could be a battle for the ages. Two heavyweight superstars, two masters of the same field, two at the top of their game.  New Jersey versus Cleveland could be Jay-Z versus Usher: The battle of the minority owners/singers/entertainers.  Sadly, it's not. Only half the battle showed up Sunday.

Nets part-owner and hip-hop mogul Jay-Z arrived fashionably late, appearing at his front-row baseline seats with 2:42 left in the first half.  He sat shouting distance from the Cavaliers' bench clad entirely in black and wearing sunglasses, and soon after he settled in his chair he began bantering with Cavaliers guard Damon Jones.  Usher, meanwhile, who was a staple at The Q after he bought a minority share in the team in 2005, has not appeared at a game since early this season.  Cavaliers majority owner Dan Gilbert said the R&B singer hasn't been forbidden to attend games, that Usher simply has been bogged down with touring, cutting an album and filming a movie.

When I lived in Philly, people often said I was simply from "Ohio".  Worse, Philly folks (both in person and in the media) would refer to Cleveland as "out there" ... as in the middle of cornfields which many really did believe the city was surrounded by...

If anyone wants to buy 3 tickets at face value ($34) to tonights game let me know.  They are in Section 230 row 14.  email me at [email protected].

I'm liking TNT's transitions between commericals....bridges of the cuyahoga, Lake Eire sunset, the Mather ship, RRHOF....just too bad Cleveland State University doesn't have help with their advertising...that commerical made me want to make sure and avoid the campus...c'mon, they could do so much better for National TV.

I agree...they look quite nice, plus the Cavs are gonna pull this close one out and make it a GREAT night!

GREAT win tonight!!!  2 wins away from the Eastern conference Finals for the first time!!

WAAAHOOOOOO!!!!!

I want a win Sat @ NJ.  Shoot 'em; put them out of their misery and send a message to Motown!

We've been to the Eastern conference Finals (I believe '75-'76 and '91-'92...lost to the Bulls).  Cavs have never been to an NBA Finals though.

That's right duh, what was I thinking? Well they're 2 wins away from being there for the first time in 15 years. They just gotta win 'em.

does that message sound like the butt whooping chicago has been receiving?

Cavs are 6-0 in the postseason! Picking a good time to peak :)

and 10-0 in the last 10 games....

and 10-0 in the last 10 games....

Let's hope its 12-0 come this weekend!!

the first game was eh to watch and close. but this second game...now that was a royal azz whipping!

I went to game one and that was crazy, I can't imagine what game two would have been like...

Atmosphere is great for games at 'Q'

By TODD PORTER, GateHouse Media

CLEVELAND — Random thoughts and musings from Tuesday’s Cavs game...

It was minutes before tip-off, and the crowd noise was deafening. Cleveland fans came out, and came out strong for Game 2.  Of course, an 8 o’clock start on national TV left plenty of time for the nine-to-fivers to get in a few rounds at Happy Hour. That was evident at halftime.

A group of about 100 fans gathered outside The Q to digest and critique the first half. A man wearing a Yankees cap was spotted. Fans broke out an unprintable chant that rhymed with “crass mole ... crass mole.”

That is hilarious.

Game two was electric - best Cavs crowd I've ever experienced (not saying much but still) - very proud of everyone - most of my section stood for the entire fourth quarter.

Cavs stole 1 in NJ.  Time to come home to Cleveland and secure a spot in the Eastern Finals!

Nets' firework display needs plenty of work

Tuesday, May 15, 2007

East Rutherford, N.J. - There's no polite way to say it, but the New Jersey Nets' pregame pyrotechnics are, well, wimpy.  In Quicken Loans Arena, fans are used to Fourth of July-type fireworks from the scoreboard, loud explosions and the occasional singed eyebrow from the flares that shoot up from behind the baskets.

In Continental Airlines Arena, they dragged around a couple of portable flamethrower contraptions, but the flares looked like birthday candles compared to those at The Q.  After the Nets were introduced, there was one popgunlike sound accompanying one anemic red, white and blue firework (is there a singular for that word?) and some red and blue streamers.

You could not blame Cavs owner Dan Gilbert for looking a little smug in his front row seat across from the Nets' bench.  :-D

If they play with the same intensity and not have a let down ala game 3, they should be fine.

If they play with the same intensity and not have a let down ala game 3, they should be fine.

Yeah....Superman is back!  Where have you been hiding?!

I just hope the CAVS play smart, play hard, don't make any decisions that will hurt the team, get the "W" that will send the Nets back to that state that is so foul, it's has it's own branded state smell!

I have been searching for the remains of my home planet. :)

LeBron will need to have an average LeBron night and someone else will need to step up and hit some shots too.  Defense will need to be consistent with last game.  I have a feeling the Nets are going to come to play and we still haven't seen Carter break out of his funk.

Downtown is going to be crazy tonight with this clinching game and the indians (if it doesn't rain out)  I'll probably spend the rest of the evening bar hopping downtown.

EDIT: rain is supposed to stop at 6, so the indians should be a go.  Downtown if definitely going to be crazy tonight...jumping on the rapid here shortly.

murray you really need to bring a camera along. letsgocavs!

six words?  What the f*ck is going on?

What an upsetting loss. I could tell from almost the begining that they lacked that intensity they needed to win. At least we have 2 more tries.  :|

We win the tip and Larry turned it over and the Nets get the 1st bucket.  That presaged the game -- fittingly, Larry turned it over to end our last possession.  He was a HUGE disappointment.  I wish Brown had let Gibson play the point -- remember, Boobie ONLY lost the starting PG job because he injured his big toe.  Even as a rookie, he's better than Larry cause Larry's stopped driving and plays mostly out of control, it seems.  He's scored allot, until tonight, but is erratic.  Plus, even in the last 2 games we won he had 1 assist in Game 3 and zero in Game 4... and tonight...?

AAAAAAHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was at Southside in Tremont and Scott Pollard came in with his wife at 11:30 (YEAH, IM BACK ALREADY. WHAT'S IT TO YOU?!). He seemed interested in avoiding contact. Lucky for him, everyone was just happy the game was over and they were wasted.

The third quarter was a killer. The Cavs played solid defense the entire series until those crapola minutes. It was like the team was just standing around watching Kidd throw 3's. Then when they finally clamped down in the 4th it was too late. They better get their heads out of their butts and play a complete defensive game in NJ.

It reminded me of the Bulls v. Cavs match ups all over again...

well i'm off to the riviera sports pub in greenwich village with my homeboy to watch the cavs-nets...and the tribe-reds...and mets-yanks. it's a good sports night. c'mon cavs --> put a fork innit!

Marshall is hot from 3-point land, Cavs way up in the middle of the 2nd Quarter! :)

Marshall was huge hitting those 3's but he's gone this off-season, he makes too much money and is too inconsistent.
