The Land has been one of the nicknames for Cleveland since the mid-90s at least, specifically within the Black Community and within Hip-Hop culture. That along with C-Town, which more people may be fa

  • massive team effort & big win on espn vs okc tonight — awesome game and superb coaching and substitutions — anyway, i watched most of it out, but the end back at our dystopian atlanta hotel - 😂🎉

  • Great win! Six-and-one!! Great to see Garland and Mitchell together for a full game. Those two are going to be magical as they play together more.

If Marshall keeps playing like he did tonight I'll eat crow everyday to the championship haha. Go Cavs!

Yeah, Baby!  Donyell shows he's a man -- worst game of his career, Wed; steps up and is huge/key in closing out Nets, Friday.  Dan Gibson is unlike any 2nd round rookie I've seen in a long time... Kid has no fear, and this is the biggest stage for LeBron and everybody else, yet Boobie delivers the dagger... GO CAVS!!!!!!!!!!

WOOHOO!!!!!

One game at a time! Let's get it done!

It's going to be a tough series, but an exciting one.  Lets all hope that Detroit's legs are tired as they are a much older team then us.  We can beat them, we just have to hit our shots because the Pistons are gonna play tough defense no matter what we do.

Donyell Marshall is my hero.  Can the Cavs beat the Pistons???  I hope so!

Haha I think Lebron had just a LITTLE something to do with that win.. 3 field goals made in the 3rd quarter without Lebron?  Not only does he score, but he opens up the court for others to get open shots.  Lebron is my hero.. along with Sasha.. gotta love that "don't take any shit" attitude.

tribe wins, skanks lose and the c-c-c-c-cavs....it all went my way in the sports world last night for once.

this great post-game pic says it all!

Well the nation doesn't think so...

ESPN Poll:

Who will win the title?

Cavs:  17%

Jazz:  9%

Pistons:  30%

Spurs:  45%

pope: some spelling errors are so bad, that even I groan.

^ well at least the lebrons are rightly more loved than the scumboozers.

The city looked might fine last night?  Was there a blimp?  It's cool that they show downtown Cleveland-even the other games that used the old videos, while Detroit's cameo is the parking lot at the Palace!  It's also cool and corny when they do the Chevy drive through the city advertisement through downtown!  Did anyone see what they did in Detroit???  They drove through the suburbs in daylight!  It was nice to sweep both teams yesterday, too!   :drunk: :drunk: Now if we could only have their airport...

or one of their casinos (kidding.....sort of)

Cavs gotta win game 4... can't afford to go down 3-1!

Hughes isn't going to be a factor for the rest of the series even if he can play in Game 5.

umm..hughes never was a factor in the series to begin with.

not sure why I'm defending the tnt treatment of Detroit but:

a) yes there was shots of the palace, but if you paid any attention there certainly was the requisite shots of greektown and the river, RenCen, blah blah

b) you can clearly make out the detroit public library and museum of art during the chevy drive-by

c) you can have our airport and all 25 miles between downtown and no rail connection

I'd rather have Hughes at 50% then Eric Snow at 150%

I'd rather have Hughes at 50% then Eric Snow at 150%

good point. you win.

E. Snow is a fantastic defender, though! I wonder why he's so bad at offense, though.

I love how Rip Hamilton tried to psych out Lebron like Lebron did to Gilbert last year, but Lebron said no.. only I can do that..

Eric Snow.. biggest point of his life on that free throw.

Series is all tied up!  Gotta steal one in Detroit to seal the deal.

YAY!!!!!

Series is all tied up!  Gotta steal one in Detroit to seal the deal.

Don't forget....the Cavs stole one last year at the Palace then turned around and couldn't seal the deal at home. I hate to say it, but I still think the Pistons will walk away with this series. I hope I'm wrong. Either way, it's been a damn good series!

It's annoying to think the Cavs could have realistically swept this series..

The commentators finally admitted it last night, Cleveland is playing harder/better this series and is the better team, but it doesn't matter because Detroit still has just as good of a shot to win the series.

We have had other players step up and make shots in both wins.  They will need this to continue if we are to have a shot.  We can't expect Gibson to have 21 every game or even Drew to have 19.  With Hughes extremely limited Z needs to be more consistent and Sasha needs to continue to play well.

I couldn't agree more...the Cavs have been, without a doubt, playing better than the Pistons.  I think the Cavs have this series...they're gonna take games 6 and 7 and move on to the Finals!

Hey Pope,

Not to be too off-topic but are there plans for a rail connection?  Do they not care?  Maybe they think it's a good thing to trap passengers there so they think DTW is Detroit...

yes, its in the very early stages (studies are complete, recommendation for commuter rail has been made). now they are working with amtrack/freight carriers for ROW concerns. It comes up every now and then in the "What other states are doing...." Thread.

okay, back on subject

That was one of the most impressive athletic performances that I have ever seen!!!  I AM A WITNESS!

YES, we got this win at home, we got it.

Did somebody mention King James?

WOW.

WOW.

I cannot believe I witnessed that.  Pinch me.

One of the greatest all-time playoff performances.

WOW!

Did Lebron just buy a mortgage in Detroit?? Because he owns that city..

I'm very exhausted... and, of course, VERY HAPPY!!!!  :-D

An amazing game.  Words are not enough to describe James' performance.  Even with the Cavs out of town, Gateway went nuts when the final score was in.  The viewing party at the Q helped, of course.

Now, lets hope the King James and his court can close this series out at home.

I've said all along the CAVS would make the conference finals but lose in 7 to the PissedOns.  Lets hope I'm wrong, very wrong!  Also, the Injuns whipped up on the Tigers.  We owned stinkin' Detroit last night!

You mean the conference finals, MTS?

I loved Billups quote about LBJ. Something along the lines of "when a guy is hitting shots like that, there's not much you can do."

Even Barkley was impressed.

"In the souls of the people the grapes of wrath are filling and growing heavy, growing heavy for the vintage." -- John Steinbeck

Same spot as last year.  Saturday is it I think.  If we don't get that win, the momentum shifts back to the Pistons for game 7 in Detroit.  Of course with LeBron's confidence level right now, there is opportunity for anything to happen in a game 7.  Let's put it away Saturday though to remove any doubt.  Please.

CROWN 'EM? Pistons' season on LeBrink

June 1, 2007

BY MITCH ALBOM, FREE PRESS COLUMNIST

By the end, both teams were slogging it out like two exhausted fighters on a hot summer night.  The Pistons threw the ball into whoever raised an arm for it, and they watched that player back in, alone, the rest of them seeming to pray a shot would fall.  On the other side, the Cleveland Cavaliers had evaporated to a one-man team.  LeBron James was the only offense they had; they fed him the ball over and over and watched him go, the way a kid watches his dad dive off to work.

More at www.freep.com/mitch.

Mitch is usually a very good writer, but he's really stretching it by calling the McDyess-Varejao play a "collision".  McDyess flat out clothes-lined Varejao. That was ugly.

LeBron James scored a career playoff-high 48 points — including his team's final 25 points, and 29 of its last 30 — to lift the Cleveland Cavaliers to a 109-107 double-overtime victory over the Detroit Pistons Thursday night and within a win of the NBA finals for the first time in franchise history.

Someone tell Mike Brown to never kiss Lebron after a game like that again haha

i wonder what the economic impact has been?

How much money has the city made of the past month (since the playoffs started)?

What kind of positive PR exposure is this for the city?

Does the CAVS winning help the city/regions image?

How will this translate into economic development?

I spoke with a few people and I hear the hotels, bars, restaurants and spin off services are riding high.  Hotel occupuncy is very high this weekend and many restaurants are no longer excepting bookings.

It appears because they are winning people who are coming to the city are making it more of a weekend than just coming to the game and going back home.  Damnit, if only we had stores on Euclid Avenue to cash in on some of the foot traffic!

If they win on Saturday, Cleveland will go bananas!

Playoffs definitely help the local economy.  You're adding additional dates where you can get 20,000 people downtown for a time period they otherwise would be at home.  Also, with the potential to go to the finals, there will be thousands who go downtown to bars to watch the game and get that "at the game excitement".

Go Cavs!

ok CAVS FANS....RISE UP...AND WITNESS!

My family tells me downtown is on and poppin'.

The CAVS and King James took a game in the Palace (how appropriate) now lets get it done in the Q.

Cleveland and the Q look amazing on TV!  If I wasn't so tired I would have come home for this!

There have been some iffy continuance calls for Detroit thus far, but I think we've got it!

I'll be honest...the shots of the fans outside the arena are extremely cool!  Cleveland is definitely getting some good publicity with these games.  The city looks great.

up 6 and I can't watch any more!  My nerves are shot!  I'm biting my nails...but I can't watch.

Yes, I agree the streetscapes look awesome!

\- sigh -

we're in!!!
