January 14, 200817 yr If I were King James Publicist/Manager this is what I would ask: a) Why are you driving? and over the speed limit? You're a rolemodel, whether you want that moniker or not. b) Didn't the KW2 recless incidents ring a bell? c) You have money out the culo, hire a 24/7 driver! duh!! d) You're still recovering from a public relations nightmare and the team isn't doing so well so why bring personal attention to the table?
January 14, 200817 yr Cavs give coach Brown two-year extension Monday, January 14, 2008 Associated Press CLEVELAND -- Cavaliers coach Mike Brown received a two-year contract extension Monday that will keep him with the club through the 2010-11 season. Brown is in his third season with the Cavaliers, who won their first Eastern Conference title last season before they were swept in the finals by San Antonio. His contract was to expire after the 2008-09 season. Cavaliers general manager Danny Ferry and owner Dan Gilbert had been discussing an extension since the summer. The Cavaliers (19-18) have had an up-and-down start this season, with restricted free agents Anderson Varejao and Sasha Pavlovic holding out in contract disputes and superstar LeBron James missing six games because of a finger injury. January 18, 200817 yr Representatives for the Cavaliers argued that incorporating a company logo on a building is different from designing a store sign.
January 18, 200817 yr That's friggin' HILARIOUS!!! "In the souls of the people the grapes of wrath are filling and growing heavy, growing heavy for the vintage." -- John Steinbeck
January 18, 200817 yr from ESPN Tables Turn For A Night When Cavs Play Spurs By Brian Windhorst Special to ESPN.com SAN ANTONIO -- Spurs vs. Cavs. No-brainer, right? This matchup has long been settled and quite convincingly, everybody knows that, eh? Look again. The two teams that hooked up at the AT&T Center Thursday appear to be heading in different directions. And it's not the way it was seven months ago or even one month ago. So the Cavs beat the Spurs, 90-88. Manu Ginobili, who seemingly couldn't miss all night on his way to 31 points, didn't get a friendly bounce at the horn as his 18-footer that would have forced overtime slipped off the rim. That's not really giant news, after all the Cavs have beaten the Spurs four straight times in the regular season. The Spurs have four straight wins in the playoffs, slightly different. January 18, 200817 yr i gotta admit i have liked the cavs smacking around the spurs this season. it is at least some small consolation for the disaster of last year's finals.
January 24, 200817 yr What a smack down in Cleveland tonight! From Washington: http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2008/01/23/AR2008012303511_pf.html Mistakes by the Lake: Cleveland Drills Wizards Cavaliers 121, Wizards 85 By Ivan Carter Washington Post Staff Writer Thursday, January 24, 2008; E01 CLEVELAND, Jan. 23 -- Coach Eddie Jordan called it "painful" and "bordering on embarrassing." Antonio Daniels labeled it "a major league butt-whipping." Antawn Jamison talked about how the Washington Wizards "never got it going" and Caron Butler said it was so ugly, he just couldn't wait to get on the plane and head back home. There are many ways to describe the 121-85 beating the previously hot Wizards received from the still-hot Cleveland Cavaliers on Wednesday night at Quicken Loans Arena, but none of them could quite summarize how badly things went for Washington. In winning for the 11th time in 13 games, the Cavaliers shot 56.6 percent, finished with a 53-29 advantage in rebounds and racked up 39 assists with only five turnovers. The 36-point margin of defeat was the largest of the season for the Wizards, who entered having won five of their previous six games but appeared to forget how to play defense, rebound or run a fluid offense.
January 24, 200817 yr I like that the boys are starting to gel. Even Sasha, who I think is overrated, looked good. OK...we're exactly were we were last year at playoff time - 4th place. I don't care if they don't win the division, just make it back to the ECC game.
January 24, 200817 yr they've changed the playoff system this year. If we have a better record than one of division winners, then we'd be seeded above them. So, we would have a shot at the third seed if we can't overtake Detroit.
January 24, 200817 yr Fab. Thanks for the information, I didn't realize that went into affect. And here I thought i was "in the know" :wtf:
January 25, 200817 yr I like that the boys are starting to gel. Even Sasha, who I think is overrated, looked good. OK...we're exactly were we were last year at playoff time - 4th place. I don't care if they don't win the division, just make it back to the ECC game. http://afp.google.com/article/ALeqM5i7xKOSKRyj9fQ7MrBBHdBEo59zsg Foot injury sidelines Cleveland's Pavlovic 3 hours ago CLEVELAND (AFP) — Cleveland Cavaliers guard Sasha Pavlovic will be sidelined six to eight weeks by a sprained left foot, the National Basketball Association team said Thursday. Pavlovic was hurt in the third quarter of Wednesday's 121-85 victory over the Washington Wizards, and an MRI on Thursday confirmed the sprain. Pavlovic, 23, re-signed with the Cleveland in November and is averaging 7.3 points and 2.7 rebounds in 38 games. Last season he played in 67 games and averaged career highs in nearly every category, including points with 9.0, rebounds with 2.4 and assists with 1.6.
January 26, 200817 yr Still would love to see a true point guard, not sure if Bibby is the answer, but it would be nice. (if we didn't have to give up too much)
January 27, 200817 yr The Cavs look good in the first half of this game with the Lakers. Of course I've probably just jinxed them. Note to Drew Gooden, get rid of the Jesus beard. What is it with you and the weird hair styles/facial hair?? The break to fix the Staples center "waterfall" seems to have benefitted the cavs. Go Cavs win one on National TV!!
January 28, 200817 yr Maybe Drew needs to worry less about his facial hair and focus more on showing up to every game and not taking nights off.
January 29, 200817 yr they've changed the playoff system this year. If we have a better record than one of division winners, then we'd be seeded above them. So, we would have a shot at the third seed if we can't overtake Detroit. We were 2nd last year, even though we didn't win the division. The rule was that the division winners automatically made the top 4 (so they had home court advantage) which leaves one slot open for a non-division winner, and not necessarily 4th place. Since we finished 2nd, we got 2nd place. The Bulls had the 3rd best record, but had to settle for 5th as the other two divison winners were then guaranteed 3rd and 4th. Has the rule changed this year so that the seeds are purely by record and the division winners are not guaranteed to be in the top 4?
January 30, 200817 yr Let's face it, Drew's just a journeyman. He has skills but is way too inconsistent. He'll never replace Boozer. It was the throw in guy, Varejao, who accidentally became the gem of the Battie trade, much the way the No. 2 guy in the 2006 draft -- Gibson -- clearly overshadowed our 1st pick, Shannon Brown, who doesn't seem like he'll make it here. I'm predicting THE CAVS WILL WIN THE CHAMPIONSHIP THIS YEAR. I think LeBron will us to it, and the other guys will step up to the challenge, even Larry.... You can see it in Z, who seems almost gritty in his determination to win it now after his long, difficult yet inspiring career. I think Boobie, Devin and even Damon will step it up, too. I don't think there's any team WE CAN'T beat, including the Spurs, who are showing some signs of age. Remember, although we were swept by them, we only lost by a total of 24 pts w/ most games decided late in the 4th quarter. I'm not afraid of Boston, either. What has any of the Big 3 actually won? The fact they are weapons, together, doesn't totally impress me. Plus, all 3 are in their 30s. We're much younger and, as much as I love KG (he's close to being an MVP... behind LBJ, of course), I just think Pierce and Allen will wimp out when the going gets tough... And Detroit doesn't scare me. We beat them last year. Should'a beat them the year before. Now they're showing some aging signs, too... We're championship tested, now. We've got the greatest player on the planet. And we're hungry... CAVS ALL THE WAY!!
January 30, 200817 yr Jason Kidd’s Trade Request Puts Pressure On Cleveland Cavaliers January 29, 2008 Oly Sandor Jason Kidd finally confirmed the worst secret in pro sports: he wants out of New Jersey and has asked the Nets to trade him: "Sometimes, when you ride a wave, you get to the end and that’s all there is. That’s where we are," Kidd said in the interview. "It used to be if I got a triple-double, that was an automatic win. That’s just not the case now. We tried to make this work. We’ve found out it doesn’t. It’s time for us all to move on.’’ Something was lost in yesterday’s hoopla, overshadowed by the unofficial becoming official. Last summer, as members of Team USA, Kidd and Cleveland superstar LeBron James discussed playing together. The two established a chemistry on and off the court and began dreaming about playing together in the NBA. In November, Kidd told Sports Illustrated that he and James have had ’’a little talk’’ about playing together with the Cavs. More at http://www.hoopsvibe.com/nba-blog/jason-kidd-s-trade-request-puts-pressure-on-cleveland-cavaliers-ar47149.html
February 4, 200817 yr No Contact Yet From: ESPN Insider February 4, 2008 An item in the Akron Beacon Journal suggested that the Cleveland Cavaliers may be interested in Sixers guard Gordan Giricek, but a source said yesterday that the Cavaliers have yet to contact the Sixers. -- The Philadelphia Inquirer More at www.espn.com
February 4, 200817 yr Eye On Miller? From: ESPN Insider February 4, 2008 Despite trying for two years, GM Danny Ferry simply has been unable to move Larry Hughes, who has two years and $26 million left on his contract after this season. But Ferry is expected to continue to try to push through a deal before the trade deadline in three weeks. He might turn his sights to another Grizzly, shooting guard Mike Miller. Depending on how much cap space the Grizzlies want to clear, the Cavs could put together a package that would give Memphis a young player and some expiring money. More at www.espn.com
February 4, 200817 yr Just get Jason as in Kidd. Not Jason, from camp crystal lake; Jason Bourne; Jason Bateman, hell I would even take Jason Alexander if we could unload Hughes!
February 4, 200817 yr Mike Miller would be a great addition to the team. No one would miss Larry Hughes for a minute if we had a better scorer, who could pass and rebound. Has he had injury problems in his career, though? This still wouldn't solve the point guard problem, but adding another outside shooter would take some of the pressure off. And then there's the question of who we'd be giving up... I don't like the thought of giving up Gibson, or even Gooden, now that Varejao's injured. I guess we're stuck again.
February 4, 200817 yr interesting note: During their rookie years, Gooden was traded for Mike Miller.
February 5, 200817 yr LeBron James pleads no contest to speeding, fined $259 Posted by Donna J. Miller February 05, 2008 09:38AM Cleveland attorney Colin Jennings entered a no contest plea yesterday in Medina Municipal Court on the ticket issued Dec. 30, James' 23rd birthday. A Highway Patrol trooper cited the Cavaliers star at 2:43 a.m. for driving 101 mph in a 65 mph zone on Interstate 71 in Medina County. He was on his way to his Wadsworth home from Cleveland Hopkins International Airport after a game in New Orleans. James was driving his white 2008 Mercedes with license plate KNG OF AK (King of Akron). Full story at http://blog.cleveland.com/sports/2008/02/lebron_james_pleads_no_contest.html
February 6, 200817 yr I'm not afraid of Boston, either. You're fearlessness of Boston has been justified so far. Great game tonight. Hopefully Lebron stays healthy, he's been great lately. Damon finding his shooting stroke again (and Gibson's always being there) sure helps, too. If Donyell can come back and hit shots consistently we might be sitting real pretty.
February 6, 200817 yr They just need to get healthy.. Drew getting hurt and leaving the game last night isn't a good sign.. especially with Varejao out already. Marshall is rusty and the other D. Jones playing is never a good sign.
February 6, 200817 yr Cleveland Cavs guard Gibson selected to participate in NBA's All-Star shootout Posted by Mary Schmitt Boyer February 06, 2008 13:11PM Cavaliers guard Daniel "Boobie" Gibson today was named one of the contestants for the NBA's Three-Point Shootout during All-Star weekend in New Orleans. The event is scheduled for Feb. 16. Gibson will also particpate in the Sophomore-Rookie challenge game during All-Star weekend. "It's a great honor," Gibson said in a team release. "I just want to express how thankful and blessed I am to be a part of this event. It means so much to me just to be able to participate. I am really looking forward to the entire weekend." Gibson, who ranks fourth in the NBA in 3-point shooting percentage, was working on his long shots after practice at the Q today, with the help of LeBron James. They had ball racks set up at the various shot locations and James was showing Gibson how to quickly get the ball from the rack to shoot. February 6, 200817 yr Wonder the last time MTS said that.. HAAAAAAAAAAAAA ZINGGGGGGGGGGG Right now while laying on the couch!
February 12, 200817 yr Boobie hurt? Ouch! Oh no! Not another damn injury! Boo, get better! Anyway, what do you kids think of Larry's game last night?
February 12, 200817 yr Boobie hurt? Ouch! Oh no! Not another damn injury! Boo, get better! Anyway, what do you kids think of Larry's game last night? Hughes is like the guy who beats his wife.. he says he's changed and will act like he has for a couple of days/games.. but then he always goes back to his old ways.
February 13, 200817 yr was it one of hughes late games treys? no. the espn top ten highlight was somebody from orlando stealing the ball off lebron under the net and scoring. of course.
February 13, 200817 yr Of course...we get a great win (and Lebron has a great dunk in the game, too) but they have to make sure Orlando gets on the highlight reel. The real highlight of the game for me, though, was when Ira Newble hit a three. That guy is amazing when he makes a shot. It's like he bends the space-time continuum or something...the ball just should not be able to go through the hoop when it's rocketed at such a flat angle.
February 13, 200817 yr Looks like Kidd is headed to Dallas. http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=3244102
February 13, 200817 yr You aren't melting in this rain today MTS? Huh.. interesting.. Not in my fab rain coat!
February 13, 200817 yr Hahaha.. I couldn't find my small umbrella this morning so I was one of those a-holes who walked around with a golf umbrella.
February 13, 200817 yr Hahaha.. I couldn't find my small umbrella this morning so I was one of those a-holes who walked around with a golf umbrella. I have a golf sized umbrella. Nothing wrong with that. Do you! Stay dry!!
February 14, 200817 yr All the talk from last night's game is about Manu going nuts for 46 points, hitting 8 threes, but the real story is that the Spurs picked apart our defense and went to the line twice as much as the Cavs, scoring 26 points in the process (the Cavs scored 12). There's no way the Spurs should come into Cleveland and score 112 points. That's three straight games in which we've allowed over 110 points! Where's the D Mike Brown???
February 16, 200817 yr Way to represent the Wine and Gold!! Gibson lights it up from arc by Branson Wright, Plain Dealer Reporter Saturday February 16, 2008, 7:24 AM New Orleans- The pain was so sharp that Daniel "Boobie" Gibson was not even sure whether he would be able to participate in Friday night's Rookie Challenge between the rookies and second-year players. Gibson was willing to scratch himself from the competition. The regular season means more than an exhibition. The rookies would have been better off if Gibson had stayed home. Thanks to Gibson's record-shooting night, the sophomores won their sixth straight game over the rookies, 136-109, to start off All-Star Weekend at the New Orleans Arena. More at www.cleveland.com
