unless i zoned it i dont think bron rested the whole game, did he? what was up with that?

coach brown really needs to rest him awhile in the 3rd/early4th quarters like they usually do so he is sharp at the end of the game. come to think of it maybe he did rest a little, but he wasn't rested enough for the end run, that was a coaching mistake.

  • massive team effort & big win on espn vs okc tonight — awesome game and superb coaching and substitutions — anyway, i watched most of it out, but the end back at our dystopian atlanta hotel - 😂🎉

  • Great win! Six-and-one!! Great to see Garland and Mitchell together for a full game. Those two are going to be magical as they play together more.

5 point lead...1:37 left...you shoot a THREE?  The three point shots at the end of the game baffled me!!  Take the two, drive the paint, get a foul....makes no sense what they did.  Coach Brown needs to be the true leader here and pund common sense play into these guys when it comes down to the wire...oh well.....game six it is...

Those decisions cost us the game....not to mention Jamison and Butler each had 4 fouls by the last few minutes and neither were attacked.  Get either of them to pick up a 5th, and they become shy all of a sudden.

Anybody going to be in DC Friday and want to get tickets to the game?

Washington Wizards Songaila suspended for tonight's game against Cleveland Cavs

Posted by Branson Wright, Plain Dealer Reporter May 02, 2008 12:32PM

Washington Wizards forward Darius Songaila will not play in tonight's playoff game against the Cavaliers.  Songaila received a one-game suspension without pay for striking Cavs forward LeBron James in the face with his hand during the first quarter of Game 5 on Wednesday.  The suspension was announced today by Stu Jackson, NBA Executive Vice President of Basketball Operations.  There have been three flagrant fouls called on the Wizards in the series and one on the Cavaliers.

I outta walk over the league office and smack Stu Jackson.  What kinda crap is this? This is a pitty suspension for not suspending Haywood  !!

or, there could be no suspension, not even a foul:

Since tip off is in about 40 minutes..here are some pics I promised from last game, before they become too outdated...man I'm still pissed...

Here's to a new night!  Go Cavs!

Nice.  The last two arent visible.

yeah I just axed them...heading out the door right now

86-66 fourth quarter.  OK, we can wrap this up.  Bring on Boston.

Cavs Win- 105 to 88.  That was the type of finish we all wanted to see in this series!!!!

hey now.

lookit the cavs get all mad and come in all business. a blowout? wow. way to end that series. not to mention that was probably their best 3rd qtr of the year.

bron is bron, z in fine form, wally comes alive and......sasha gets a few minutes back in action at the end? whata surprize that was.

good job cavsters -- bring on the celts

nba_a_james02_412.jpg

I say dump sasha as soon as the season is over.

Gawd, that game was fun.  So many pizzed off wizards fans surrounding me, and I think Lebron even winked at me ;)  Go Cavs!

This ATL-BOS Game is interesting as well.

Gawd, that game was fun.  So many pizzed off wizards fans surrounding me, and I think Lebron even winked at me ;)  Go Cavs!

Wait,,,u were there?!?!?  courtside?

ATL wins!!  Back to Bean-town and more rest for the cavs!

CAVS-CELTS vs. CAVS-HAWKS?

Pros and Cons of each series.

Yeah, they put us through Game 5's only for the PAYOFF tonight.  And if Wally World is knocking them down like this, we could go all the way.

And now, Holly Sh!t!!  Boston vs. Hawks a 1 game series; anything can happen and these Atlanta kids are fired up.  If we're not playing Atlanta, you'd have to think the Cavs have a psychological edge having thoroughly dispatched a much tougher team in 6 while Boston struggles w/ the worst team, record-wise, in the playoffs.

LeBron; Boys, kick back and enjoy relaxing watching the tube on Sunday waiting to see who your next victim will be!!!!

GO CAVS!!!!  :-D

I outta walk over the league office and smack Stu Jackson.  What kinda crap is this? This is a pitty suspension for not suspending Haywood  !!

It's now a six-month suspension because that's how long it will be before he (or any of the Brothers Hanson Washington Wizards) will play again!  :-D

Goes to show that if you have to play like goons, it probably means you have make up for a lack of talent.

The thing I don't get is, those buttheads keep complaining that LeBron is a whiner and they don't understand why he's getting calls.... HELLO, they said before the series started they were going to beat the crap out of him as a strategy.

This reminded me of last year's series with Miki Moore and the Nets. That was when Sasha was good, lol.

The Cavs rely on a lot of players

Posted by cjindra May 04, 2008 07:25AM

The Cavs rely on many 'players' for a successful season, many are right here in Cleveland.  How far the Cavaliers advance in the NBA playoffs remains to be seen.  But the business community already has cause for celebration.  A professional sports team, especially a successful one like the Cavaliers, is an economic juggernaut, channeling millions of dollars to and from companies here and across the country.

In Cleveland, the team has spent $30 million over the past three seasons sprucing up The Q.  Tracy Marek, Cavaliers senior vice president of marketing, said as a rule the team tries to employ Northeast Ohio based companies whenever possible.  Beyond that, she said, the team relies on preferred vendors recommended by the NBA.  "We're lucky," she said. "We're in a bustling area, and there's a lot of business close to home." But forget the contest itself, if you can.  To appreciate the Cavaliers as an economic driver, look no further than the pre-game show.

I'm sure some of you did a double take on Friday night, as I did...when I paused my DVR on some dopey fan in DC wearing one of these shirts...I was incredibly surprised to see a Papa John's logo on it.

I can understand that this was some franchisee doing the dirty work, not a corporate decision on PJ's part.

Stupid anyway...first, how much control does PJ's have over its franchisees?  I think we know the answer to that.

Secondly...there is much better pizza in C-Town than this crap.  For this reason...you might as well enjoy a true local pizza!  GO CAVS!

But Papa John's does have control over the use of its logo.

This is a Papa John Corporate Communications & Community Relations/Responsibility nightmare.  Many media outlets picked that up.

If I was at Papa Johns Corporate I would be all over the Franchisee and the Wizards!  There is no way the "whizz" did not know that those tee shirts were in the building.  As a result, I can't bet, going forward, NBA teams will definitely make sure items distributed at their games are from approved sponsors at a mutually agreed upon date.

ChiCleveKid, why boycott a local Papa Johns?  Franchisees are local owned and operated and trying to make money, so why boycott those hard working Clevelanders???  You calling for a boycotting of your local Papa Johns has a worse ripple affect than you realize.

If your boycott do go forward, what are you plans for helping those local business owners and the local employees that will most likely lose their jobs?? I can't wait to hear your response.

If sales go down here in Cleveland the local franchisees' should sue PJ corporate and the DC franchise.

PJ corporate should:

a) Make sure to bump up marketing in the Cleveland area

b) Make a reoccurring donation to a Cleveland Charity, funded by the DC franchise

c) Revolk or sanction the DC franchise

d) Work with the NBA/Cavs to make sure that there is no ill will to the local franchises.

e) Pay for a local commercial that involves the Cavs/Gateway/NBA

f) Sponsor a pre or post game party at the next two Cavs games.

g) become a preferred sponsor or partner of the Cavs

...oh and by the way...Go Hawks!

Here's my response...

No grand scheme here, no over the top plot to take down Papa John's...but the point is:

There are other pizza options in Cleveland that are better than PJ's.  Why spend your money at a place where Louisville, KY gets your coin (a portion of it at least) instead of frequenting a truly locally owned joint?

Go CAVS!

BTW...this is not my site, but I do think it's deserved.

Just think about the power of the Internet and how a shirt like this would not have gotten second notice in years past.  Pretty neat.

Go CAVS!

and one week from now, we'll forget all about this.

While we are at it, lets boycott NY for wanting Lebron and having articles in the news about woo-ing him.

I didn't think you would answer my question.

Aside from other pizza options.

What have the owners of stores in Cleveland done to be punished, because of an irresponsible franchisee in Wash., DC?

I did answer your question...keep more of the money in Cleveland than by giving (some of) it to a corporation that's not based here...

It's not like they are the only pizza in town.

BTW...I actually like your game plan for Papa John's to rectify this issue locally.

You should send it to PJ's PR dept.

You don't get it do you?  Those franchisees' are LOCAL CORPORATIONS.

we're splitting hairs here, but franchise fees do go back to HQ.

No more PJ's franchise structure discussion.

Then can you move the posts about this to the "off topic thread"?

Pope I understand that but the fees are such small part of the over overhead, and much less of an impact than the lose of sales and jobs.

Nope, really don't feel like it.

HOLY CRAP  The Celts are blowing out the Hawks  83-49.  OK.  Bring on the Celts.  Let's hope they are inconsistent as they have been all year.

Lol!

Go CAVS!

No more Papa Johns talk after this, but thought this was important to wrap up the discussion.  Now I would like to know of the Franchisee will be dropped or fined.

I hope helps and not hurts our local franchisee who were caught in a PR nightmare by no fault of their own.

Papa John's issues apology, pizza deal

Posted by spatton May 04, 2008 18:30PM

Looks like Papa John's is eating humble pie.  Or rather, serving it up to Clevelanders - for a whopping 23 cents.  The pizza chain issued an apology Sunday for the No. 23 T-shirts emblazoned with the word "Crybaby" and the Papa John's logo, which Washington Wizards fans flaunted during Friday's playoff game in Washington DC.  To show the chain's sincerity, its more than 40 area stores on Thursday will sell customers a large one-topping pie for 23 cents.

The company will donate those 23 cents from every pizza, plus $10,000, to the Cavaliers Youth Fund.  The shirts stemmed from No. 23, LeBron James', complaints about hard fouls he thought were intended to injure.  Wizards Center Brendan Haywood labeled him a crybaby.  Too bad the Cavs took Game 6 105-88.  And we won 23-cent pizza.  Guess that makes it no harm, no foul.

The Cleveland PJ's franchises really spun this well and turned it into a good way to raise some money for charity.

Looks like corporate stepped in, however, I hope they are going to give the Cleveland franchisees' a subsidy, since they'll most likely lose money on the 23 cents deal.

Has this man even walked around Downtown?  This is really embarrasing to the City.  It shows that even the players know little about the area in which their home is located in.

Helping Joe find his joe

Michael K. McIntyre

Plain Dealer Columnist

The latest issue of ESPN The Magazine has a story about how players added to NBA teams via trade during the season are acclimating to their new surroundings.  Ben Wallace, who obviously never has to take the East Shoreway home during rush hour, loves the traffic in Cleveland.  "The traffic in Chicago killed me on game days," he said. "You never knew how long it would take to get to the United Center."

Joe Smith, on the other hand, is lost. He complained that he used to stop for a Starbucks venti vanilla latte on the way to practice or shootaround, then a Subway cold-cut trio on the way home for lunch. "There is nothing like that here. I live five minutes from the arena, but I feel like I'm in the middle of nowhere."

Joe, we've got lots of joe.  You can't drive five minutes in Cleveland without hitting a Starbucks barista.  And while we don't have subway stops, we have plenty of Subway shops. We won't even bother pointing you to Papa John's.

More at www.cleveland.com

^^that is odd for Joe to say...wasn't Cleveland ranked as having the most subways recently??

Someone needs to show him around!  (EDIT: mostly meaning other things besides starbucks and subways though!)

On a funny note, anyone remember this commerical of lebron from a few years ago?
