The Land has been one of the nicknames for Cleveland since the mid-90s at least, specifically within the Black Community and within Hip-Hop culture. That along with C-Town, which more people may be fa

  • massive team effort & big win on espn vs okc tonight — awesome game and superb coaching and substitutions — anyway, i watched most of it out, but the end back at our dystopian atlanta hotel - 😂🎉

  • Great win! Six-and-one!! Great to see Garland and Mitchell together for a full game. Those two are going to be magical as they play together more.

um...LeBron AND Savannah, you need to CLEAN your house if you're having a camera crew come over!

That house was a mess.

Lol!

Repping Cleveland!

He wore a NEW YORK Yankees hat to Cleveland Indians playoff games last fall. He's a traitor, plain and simple, though I guess he can always say "I grew up in Akron, not Cleveland," but same thing...

Is there a law that says dependent on where you were born, where you live and who you play for, you must root for the local team?

If that were the case I'm somewhere between a Pittsburgh-Detroit-Cleveland fan base.

Lol!

Go away.

I think it was in poor taste, but I don't see it making him a traitor.  I see it more as him sticking to what he's always loved...even if that means he grew up being a front-runner Yankees fan.  I also thinking he has done a great job of pouring time and energy into the city of Cleveland, as well as being the Cavs' savior.  We will see in a couple years how committed he really is to Cleveland, but he sure seems to be more so than many athletes nowadays are committed to their hometown/team's town.

Lol!

It's not the same thing. That being said, it was in bad taste given his position to go to the playoff game wearing a yankee's cap.

Why are we back on "hatgate"??  It's over, let it go folks.

^ The Chicago Bulls were full of crappy role players, just like the Cavs. I would say Boobie is to Lebron as Scottie was to Michael.

LJ is gonna have a tough decision because any team that wants him isn't going to be able to afford the star power to go around him.

Huh? Scottie Pippen is a hall of fame-caliber player. The closest the Cavs have to a HOF-caliber player is Z, and that isn't saying much. Z is a steady, decent player and I wouldn't want to lose him. But he's not at the level  Pippen was. No one on the Cavs is. There's Lebron and a few decent players and then a bunch of guys who'll be able to say someday while sitting in bars "hey, I played in the NBA."

yeah but let's don't ignore the other side of the coin in that arguement: the iverson-led sixers era. which let's face it looks more & more like the cavs of today.....at least that is what jay-z is tellin lebron every 15 minutes.  :-P

Pippen was listed as a top 50 all time player.  I didn't know boobie made that list yet.  Ridiculous.

Alright, Pippen was a good player, we get it.. keep it focused on the Cavs.

Huh? Scottie Pippen is a hall of fame-caliber player.

the only reason scottie p is a 'hall o fame caliber player' is because he was a good player who knew he was in the presence of a great one.  period.

who has the same potential on the cavs current roster?  i'd pick delonte over boobie for potential, though it's a close call as both are aggressive and athletic and seem to have a coach's understanding of the game.  wally would make the list if he was 3 years younger. boozer fit the role, but he was a bit big-headed.

Cavs in 6.

if lebron exhibits his Magic side, besting 10 assists per game> Cavs in 5

umm..how can they do it five, when we've all ready played three games  :wtf:  What kind of math are you using?  This goes atleast 6 games.

'Plan' of Celtics brass to end road woes is in place - Boston, not Cleveland

539w.jpg

The Celtics hope they’ve located the cause of their problems on the road — Cleveland in this instance — by importing some of the comforts of home.

Globe Columnist / May 12, 2008

CLEVELAND - The Celtics' braintrust stayed up past midnight after the Saturday night massacre at the Q. Wyc Grousbeck, Steve Pagliuca, Danny Ainge, Doc Rivers, and Jo Jo White plotted deep into yesterday morning and came up with a plan they think will solve the team's postseason road woes. Home away from home.  It's not reality, of course.  It's not even virtual reality.  It's the concept of a virtual Boston Garden right here in Cleveland.

It starts in the team hotel.  After Saturday night's loss, Celtics brass rigged and wired the team's hotel headquarters to simulate Boston.  This morning, a copy of the Globe will be set outside each player's room.  If Kevin Garnett flips on his clock radio, he'll hear Glenn Ordway and friends screaming over each other on "The Big Show."  If Paul Pierce clicks on his TV, he'll see Hazel Mae at the NESN sports desk.  If Ray Allen orders room service, he'll get a bowl of Legal Seafoods clam chowder.

LAWD Geezus!

Where are good places to watch the game in downtown?

Where are good places to watch the game in downtown?

At the Q, silly.  he he he

lol..any other suggestions...although that is a good one!

Okay, probably late for your needs,  but the panini's on W. 6th seems to have an overabundance of TVs and wasn't that busy on Saturday night.

I know its kind of late but I went downtown to watch the Cavs game today and we hit up 5 places, usually switching at every quarter, and yes I know that adds up to 4 :)

But we went to paninis which was nice as usual, but not as many people outside like usual but still a good place as well as the Clevelander next door.

The winking lizard across the street was completely packed and there was no tables available and the bar was packed as well so we moved on. The harry buffalo was a couple blocks away and that was a nice place to watch the game as well, there were a couple Boston fans and it was fun heckling them along with the others there, all in fun of course

Then we ended up going across the street from the Jacobs field, yes it is still Jacobs field, and I do not remember the name of it but it was decent as well. Then finally we followed the Tribe crowd to the Thirsty Parrot to finish of the game and it was a neat place as well, but usually the deck is packed during summer, so it was not as good as it can be. I know it is still a bit chilly but come on people!

The usual good spots however that I found where there is a good vibe and people around is Paninis and Harry Buffalo. We plan on hitting different places for the next game. So if there are any other suggestions, they do not have to be in the heart of downtown and can be a little obscure, it would be awesome.

GO CAVS!!!! 2 MORE!!!

Great to hear you had a good time.  I was at the wink all night--yep it was packed.  Some more "obscure" places would be:

Little Bar

Nick's

Clevelander

Scorchers on E.12

All downtown, so kinda what you're asking.  My favorite spots to "hop" during the game are Boneyard, Wink, Flannery's, Panini's on E.9, and even Corner Alley.  I think you had the right idea of hanging out in the E.4th/Gateway district.  Not to mention, you get to be a part of all the excitement as the game lets out.

the Q had an outdoor bar set-up last night overlooking the carnival of kids games on the plaza between the Q & the Prog.  nice idea - not too crowded 90 minutes before game time.

also interesting to think how that plaza and the street that cuts between the Q and the parking garages could potentially be livened up with some small cafes/bars.  though w/ e4 so close, it may be redundant.

FYI - there is a Panini's in the Q near section 123.  the sandwiches are better than most of the new panini franchises, yet are the same price.  by the look of the grease on the window, it's been there a while, but new to me.

So was the dunk on Garnett, LeBron's series "awakening"?  Sideshow Bob finally played some serious Defense!

EDIT:  check ESPN.  they are playing this like every 5 minutes, along with Ms. Gloria going off.  What a mama's boy!  he he he

"Sit. Your. Ass. Down."

Later, he said he was glad it wasn't Mothers' Day, considering what he said.

Seriously, they need to do something about these constant hard fouls on LeBron.  Right now it just makes him mad, but eventually he might get hurt.  I thought that's why we brought in Ben Wallace.

He's a moving target.  Ben has been ineffective and Z inconsistent.  Sideshow Bob did a decent job in the second half.

Might have been the gateway bar and grill (or something along those lines). Dark, some purple theme with black? i've had two horrible experiences there. Both on Fridays and they were out of beer on tap except for guiness and Sam Adam's cherry wheat.

Sideshow Bob did a decent job in the second half.

Joe Smith was the best player out there for a good portion of the second half.

I agree and sasha, looked a mess as per the usual.

Yeah, I'd rather see Damon Jones in there than Sasha at this point (especially since he was shooting well at the end of the year before they mysteriously permanently benched him).

Is anyone going to mention the bad foul shooting and poor rebounding.

We had a 14 point lead and folded like a bunch of deck chairs!  :whip:

Time to root for the Indians.

GO CAVS!!!!!!!!!!

Way to force game 7!

If they don't fix this team, LeBron is leaving and I won't blame him. That steal and dunk he had on Paul Pierce today was unbelievable.

The problem with the Cavs is that they haven't had a successful 1st round draft pick since Lebron.. Luke Jackson & Shannon Brown were their only two picks since, and they're both busts.  They need to hit on one this year.

So you the heck do you root for now?

Boston: Has gotten enough championships with the Red Sox and Pats.  Beat the Cavaliers this year.

Detroit: Arch rival of the Cavaliers the last few seasons.

Los Angeles: Have won enough championships.  Sort of like the Yankees of basketball.

San Antonio: Swept Cavaliers last year in finals.

I think I'm pulling for Detroit, just because it seems like a championship would lift that city's spirits a bit.

If Boston wins, then we can say we took the Champions to Game 7.  Not so with the others.

Truthfully, we have plenty. With the dominating Detroit Red Wings (23 Stanley Cups, behind only Montreal for all time standings) and The Pistons (we just won back-to-back championships in 2004 and 2005), we have quite a few championships in the city both historically and in recent years. The Tigers have also had their moments. Only the Lions suck as a franchise...we need another Barry Sanders.

Ouch my brain.

Red Wings: 10 Stanley Cups Championships

Pistons: 1989, 1990 and 2004

^You and your damn facts pope.

I really hate every sports team in Boston. Celtics, Red Sox, Patriots, Bruins, and anything else they have.

I'm ticked that the Cavs are out...but I'm also kind of looking forward to a potential Lakers v. Celtics match-up in the Finals.  I'm a throwback kind of guy.

no, not absolutely. detroit has more of those in hawkey, hoops and baseball, but not football or soccer.

otoh it is true toledo slaughters other ohio border towns in how fast they switch caps and tee shirts when the wind changes directions.

check out the c-dawg dissin the soccer!

Lebron probably carries the Cavs moreso than he did SVSM, which is pretty sad.

well at least the celtics went to the finals. i feel slightly better about that.

Why are the guys from our various sports outlets telling me that Jermaine O'Neal could be come a CAV?  Doesn't he have a ridiculous contract?
