September 8, 200519 yr Pope, The Cavs don't suck. I wonder what they will do with the old signs. I just ran into the old Chief Wahoo sign at the WRHS Library. Very cool.
September 8, 200519 yr Pope, The Cavs don't suck. i don't recall seeing them in the playoffs.......or any championship banners...... (insert annoying austin carr laugh here)
September 8, 200519 yr Some good news, the Quicken Loans center alluded to earlier in this thread looks like it will come to be. From Cleveland.com 3:14 p.m. Cleveland Cavaliers owner Dan Gilbert announced today that he has selected Cleveland as the site for a new loan office that will create 350 high-paying jobs for his rapidly-expanding Quicken Loans. The jobs are expected to pay $85,000 to $90,000 a year in salary and commission. The loan office will be located downtown, as close to Gund Arena as possible, Gilbert said. He wants it open by the middle of next year. Jobs will be for mortgage bankers/loan officers who will process incoming customer calls/ loan applications. I like to see this. There was a press conference at 1:00 to discuss the move. Mayor Campbell was there but I did not see it. Waiting to see if they post the archive on www.cavs.com...
December 6, 200519 yr Discuss any related Cleveland Cavs stuff here. "You don't just walk into a bar and mix it up by calling a girl fat" - buildingcincinnati speaking about new forumers
December 10, 200519 yr Did anyone see when both Gooden and Donyell Marshall both went for a rebound at the end of Fridays game and Marshall accidently tipped the ball in for the Nets. I swear that can only happen to a Cleveland team.
December 11, 200519 yr A 2 da K, I would normally agree with you, but as dumb as that play looked, it wasn't heartbreaking b/c we did so much other stuff to f--- up the game. With now 6 of 8 losses, we're in a bona fide slump. It's not like this game, or the blunder had any playoff implications. It was more salt in the wound than a heartbreaker.
December 11, 200519 yr Our lack of defense is killing us and making LeBron's antics look like a circus sideshow. As Brian Windhorst noted in his ABJ game article this morning, Milwaukee fans had the best of both worlds: watching LeBron with his amazing 52 pt exploits but, in the end, going home with the warm feeling that their team won... ... I'd rather have the win, ... sorry LeBron.
December 11, 200519 yr oh, I'm sure he would too! He'd sit out if it meant we had a better chance of winning (that would never happen). our defense is atrocious...
December 11, 200519 yr I don't have the answer other than we may have to deal someone before the deadline, ... and the someone most likely would be Drew. Question is: who would want Drew enough to give him the quality definsive stopper we so desperately need. I don't know if there's an as unbalanced team in the league as the Cavs: awesome O, nonexistent D. I was thrilled to get Hughes and the sharp shooters in the off season, but they can only make the games competitive, the scores respectable, whereas last season, esp at the end, we were getting blown out. ... I just don't think this town or this franchise can withstand another year missing the playoffs. It's a long way off and we have plenty of time to turn it around, but based on last year while looking at this team nearly 20 games in has got to scare any Cavs' fan to death.
December 24, 200519 yr 5 in row! It was nice to see the Cavs pull it out against the Pacers when Lebron was having an off night (much credit to the Pacers D). The Cavs have been looking a little more consistent on the defensive end lately; lets hope this continues.
December 27, 200519 yr enjoy your fourth place playoff seed An 8th place playoff seed will be enjoyed more than the playoff seeding the Cavs have gotten the last 5+ years or so.
December 28, 200519 yr ^ Amen to that! I'm not picky, I just want to see the Cavs still playing in May (though, with their impressive home record, home court advantage could really help them in advancing).
December 28, 200519 yr i was just making the point that a 4th seed is the best possible seed you guys could likely fight for
December 28, 200519 yr the cavs just cannot beat the nets for some reason. ugh. maybe because jefferson clamps down on lebron? marshall standing around? i dk. but that was a frustrating game to watch. it will be great to see them in the post-season, but they just do not have the talent depth to go very far in the playoffs.
December 29, 200519 yr the cavs just cannot beat the nets for some reason. ugh. maybe because jefferson clamps down on lebron? marshall standing around? i dk. but that was a frustrating game to watch. it will be great to see them in the post-season, but they just do not have the talent depth to go very far in the playoffs. Baby Steps....lol I know what you mean. The team has teased us the last two years and missed out on the playoff, but I "think" they can make it this year. I don't think they have the stamina to make to a conference finals, but possibly win the opening series.
December 29, 200519 yr ^They BETTER make it this year. Or LeBron...well...he might not stay ;). "You don't just walk into a bar and mix it up by calling a girl fat" - buildingcincinnati speaking about new forumers
December 29, 200519 yr ^They BETTER make it this year. Or LeBron...well...he might not stay ;). Hush yo mouth child - thats blasphemous!!! LMAO!
December 29, 200519 yr It's also true :). "You don't just walk into a bar and mix it up by calling a girl fat" - buildingcincinnati speaking about new forumers
December 30, 200519 yr yep he was looking mighty frustrated at his teammates most of that game -- you might be right. you dont have to rub it in our faces yet tho cdm, at least lets wait with that talk until they miss the damn playoffs first. i have to say, i do really like the coaching for the first time since fratello. fine substitutions, plays and all that. it's just a shame they just dont have enough talent yet. thats ownerships fault and it needs to drastically improve if they are going to keep lebron no question about it.
December 31, 200519 yr Final Detroit at 84 Cleveland 97 *** ^ok, ok today i take back evrything negative i implied -- lol!!! wow that win is bigtime impressive -- way to go out in '05 with a bang cavs!
January 1, 200619 yr ^Very nice. Tho' poor shooting on both sides. "In the souls of the people the grapes of wrath are filling and growing heavy, growing heavy for the vintage." -- John Steinbeck
January 5, 200619 yr Larry Hughes is out 6-8 weeks with surgery on his finger :-( Fortunately the Cavs pulled out a big win in Milwaukee last night. They're at 19-10 right now. Keep it goin'! "Word on the street" to quote Roger Brown  is that Anderson Varejao will be back soon. WILD THING.
January 5, 200619 yr and hopefully a positive sign that the bench will step up and fill Hughes's shoes! Newble helps and so will Varejao, but when is Damon Jones going to start doing his job? He's got the starting role now, so he needs to show that he deserves it! Otherwise, Newble will be back in that spot in a jiffy! ps: I ran into Marty (the rookie) at the bank two days ago...he's kinda tall!
January 5, 200619 yr ps: I ran into Marty (the rookie) at the bank two days ago...he's kinda tall! I didn't think they had any rookies?
January 5, 200619 yr Marty Ilgauskas (close enough :)) is the second round draft pick out of Lithuania. I believe he's 19yrs old.
January 5, 200619 yr "Word on the street" to quote Roger Brown  is that Anderson Varejao will be back soon. WILD THING. "Rumor has it", that the Cavs will look to Anderson Varajao to make up for Hughes' absence. "Word on the street" is that the Cavs will dedicate thier next win to Hughes and hope he has a swift recovery. "Rumblings from within the orgainization" tell me that the team will look to continue thier winning ways at the Q tonight against Houston. One of the great mysteries in the Cleveland sports world is, "how does Roger Brown still have a job?" What a hack!
January 17, 200619 yr I love Andy's 24/7 energy, but his shot is ugly, ugly, ugly -- no way they can count on him to make up for Hughes' points. Brown really needs to lean on Damon Jones who's "slump" is really getting irritating. Kudos to Drew and Z for stepping up lately, but Damon's whining that we big, bad Cavs' fans at the Q are hurting his feelings booing (boo-hoo!/@ 4 years, $16M!!! -- I'd shed some public tears for that contract). We just went down to lowly Portland and are going to be w/o Drew for a few games due to injury. We're oh-and-3 on this Western swing and could end up 0-6. Ouch!
January 19, 200619 yr I have to admit, I'm startin to get a little jittery. I know some of our key players are our currently out; but with the way things have gone the last couple of seasons, it doesn't give me a good feeling seeing the Cavs going into a mid-season slump.
February 5, 200619 yr Was Usher Ushered Out by Cavaliers? Friday, February 3, 2006 7:32 PM EST The Associated Press By TOM WITHERS CLEVELAND (AP) — Has Usher been shown the door by the Cleveland Cavaliers? The Grammy-winning R&B artist, who said "I look for Cleveland to be my home away from home" when he became a minority owner last year, has not attended a Cavaliers home game this season. On top of that, his hit song "Yeah" is no longer blasted inside Quicken Loans Arena, and perhaps more telling, Usher does not appear in the club's media guide along with principal owners Dan Gilbert, Gordon Gund and David Katzman... www.ap.com
February 5, 200619 yr I believe he's originally from Tennessee and grew up in Atlanta. I heard a while ago he had gotten a penthouse in DT Cleveland after becoming part owner last year; but I don't know how true that it is. It does make you wonder, he's been very absent from games this year. Last spring, he was at almost every home game. Could be nothing though.
February 5, 200619 yr Latest rumor is that he never paid for his 10% stake in the franchise and the majority owners are now trying to push him out. Money problems maybe? There are still to many unknowns about this situation.
February 5, 200619 yr Latest rumor is that he never paid for his 10% stake in the franchise and the majority owners are now trying to push him out. Money problems maybe? There are still to many unknowns about this situation. My dad told me the same thing. Heard it on WKNR I think.
February 18, 200619 yr So does anyone else from the Cleveland area know what the latest is with Usher? I can't find nothing else on the net about it.
February 22, 200619 yr Here's an update from the 2/22/2006 Beacon Journal... Usher sighting For the first time all season, Cavs part-owner and recording artist Usher Raymond IV attended the game and sat at center court. Usher and the Cavs ownership group had not been on good terms for what insiders said was Usher's failure to fulfill his investment agreement. It is unclear if his appearance was a sign of mending fences. Unlike the games he attended last season, Usher was not acknowledged on the video board, and the season-long ban on his music was not lifted. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- http://www.ohio.com/mld/ohio/13931317.htm
February 22, 200619 yr big deal, he's probably broke now that his 15 minutes are about over. gee maybe he should have spent more time watching over his money and career and less time lately telling us how not gay he is. sad.: http://rodonline.typepad.com/rodonline/2005/12/ushers_confessi.html
February 24, 200619 yr Hmmm so it mustve been money problems. I remember he was braggin all about how he owns the Cavs and how hes the only artist who manages his money well but now he's been on the down low (no pun intended) for the past few months now. No music videos, appearances, nothin..strange.
