February 10, 200916 yr Sasha is a walking injury. This common occurrence for him should not surprise anyone. It doesn't surprise me, but it sure does suck. We are now on our third string shooting guard, which leaves us with almost no back court rotation, and throws the rest of our rotation way out of whack. It just comes at a very unfortunate time... especially since he had actually been playing pretty well.
February 10, 200916 yr Yeah, I feel like everyone keeps forgetting we're missing Delonte, which screws up everything. Sasha is a walking injury, but when we're at full strength, his injury wouldn't even really matter that much. I think everyone is freaking out too much right now. This team is tons better than last year, and 1 million x better than the year before. When the playoffs come, we'll not only have the world's best player, but also a cohesive team that has been playing together for some time now. I just hope we can hang on for HC throughout the Eastern Conf.
February 10, 200916 yr Sunday showed me a little inexperience on Mike Browns part. We always dominate the boards, and I dont think he knew what to do on Sunday when Odom was doing whatever he wanted. If I am Mike Brown at the end of the third quarter...I point to someone (ANYONE)..freaking Darnell Jackson if you have to...and say "YOUR ONLY JOB ON THE FLOOR IS TO BOX OUT LAMAR ODOM..DONT SHOOT, JUST BOX HIM OUT". He did not address that problem..and odom looked like wilt chamberlain...must make adjustments.
February 10, 200916 yr ^I have never been a huge fan of M Brown. His best asset is letting LeBron run the team, followed by defensive philosophy. And yes, he was seriously out-coached on Sunday. I still think the Cavs are a touch soft too. Wally put a nice hard foul on Fisher at the end of the game, but they needed someone to put a forearm shiver into Odom to slow his a$$ down from crashing the boards so hard. I don't think M Brown is in to retaliation or strategic rough play, and that disappoints me. What he allowed Rasheed to do to Z back in the conf semis of 2006 was pathetic, as was his refusal to put the hammer down on some of the Wizards last year.
February 19, 200916 yr Cleveland Cavaliers are talking with Phoenix Suns about acquiring Shaquille O'Neal Posted by bwindhor February 19, 2009 11:28AM TORONTO -- From the people around the league I am talking to today, the Cavs are one of the most aggressive teams at this point. They are convinced that they have an advantage as a buyer and do not want to let a chance slip past as teams everywhere are looking to sell. Several reliable sources have told me they have offered Ben Wallace and Sasha Pavlovic (only $1 million guaranteed) for Shaquille O'Neal. The Suns may want to keep Amare Stoudemire but now have abandoned their plans to play slow down and Shaq is in the way. Also, it would save them millions next season because Wallace's contract actually decreases next season and Pavlovic is not fully guaranteed. This would be a massive transition for the Cavs, not exactly the sort of deal that doesn't alter the chemistry. I have no idea what it would do to the lineup but I do know Shaq has four championship rings, is having an All-Star season, has an expiring contract next year, and has an excellent relationship with LeBron James. February 19, 200916 yr Shaq-nastee in a Cavs uniform? Oh word! My niece is probably the happiest kid in school today.
February 19, 200916 yr I have no qualms about letting Big Ben go. While I think he still tries his arse off, he went into decline about 3 years ago. Regarding Sasha, I think I've given up thinking he will ever reach his full potential. I don't know if he doesn't work hard enough or if it's just due to a lack of pt, but I see little improvement out of him.

February 19, 200916 yr ^Agreed. The Suns have no chance and their refound uptempo game plays out horribly for Shaq. I wouldn't want Shaq and Jefferson, one or the other, preferably Shaq. I don't want both because I would worry that the same chemistry issues the occurred last year would happen again.

I don't want both because I would worry that the same chemistry issues the occurred last year would happen again. I agree. I think Ricky Jefferson has talent but is he tough enough. Shaq's trusted and I think his tank is 3/4 empty and this is his last 1/4 before the gas station. With the right team, he could put the cavs over the top, help JJ Hickson and Sideshow Bob up their game and keep Z honest as he knows one mistake and he's on the bench.
February 19, 200916 yr From Windhorst: "Hey guys, I just got a phone call and there's a big move on the horizon involving the Cavs. The logistics are being worked out right now between the three teams, but I'll make an official post as soon as my source calls me back."

Well as of 1:15pm sources are saying the trade wont go thru before the deadline. I've got calls into some people to see what's going on! My office is on pins and needles.
February 19, 200916 yr I hear Shaq was at Beachwood Place a few weeks ago when the Cavs were playing the Suns. And I have a good friend who has waited on Victor Martinez a couple times at Cheesecake Factory. I think I need to hang out in that area more often.

February 19, 200916 yr My WTFs were in regards to where the comment came from. I see what you mean about "area."

February 19, 200916 yr Shaq hasn't twittered anything about the trade, so I concur that the deal is nonexistent. Either that, or Shaq has suddenly developed his heretofore-nonexistent ability to not be chatty.
February 19, 200916 yr Windhorst's coverage left something to be desired..... I am surprised we didn't do anything with wally but I can't complain too much I still really like this team
February 19, 200916 yr Two things: a) Why would Windhorst post on the message board rather than updating his own blog? I think that message board entry was a cleveland.dumber b) I'm happy with this non-trade if we could get a guy like Joe Smith via buyout.

February 19, 200916 yr I don't think B is an option. From Windhorst: "If you missed it, the Hornets traded Tyson Chandler to the Thunder for Joe Smith and Chris Wilcox. Smith will now not be bought out unless he stages some sort of violent protest, which isn't going to happen. The Hornets have surely angered their supportive fan base (well, this season at least) and probably Chris Paul by dumping their best big man. But they now need Smith. This seems like a purely a finanicial move. And the Hornets didn't even get one of the Thunder's five first round draft picks in the next two years, which shows they were totally haggling from a position of weaknesses." http://www.cleveland.com/cavs/index.ssf/2009/02/change_in_camby_status_joe_smi.html
February 19, 200916 yr That trade was canceled because Chandler had a bum toe. Joe Smith is still on OKC, so he might get bought out. Unfortunately, the rumor is he would sign with BOS. Supposedly Mikki Moore might also get bought out from SAC and the rumor is that he also will sign with BOS. I'm assuming that BOS will only sign one of them and we might get the other.
February 19, 200916 yr I don't think B is an option. Hence why I said "a guy like" not "I want Joe Smith."
February 20, 200916 yr http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/columns/story?columnist=hollinger_john&page=PERDiem-090219 A list of players who have been bought out/or will likely be bought out.
February 23, 200916 yr Why is wally wearing a face mask? I swear ESPN has the worst stock footage of the city!
February 23, 200916 yr The Cavs look ridiculous. It's like college ball on the bench! This is crazy!!! This is nuttzz.
February 23, 200916 yr wally has had a facemask on for a few games now. He hurt his nose against the pacers I believe.
February 23, 200916 yr ^ Yeah it got jammed in a game two weeks ago. Delonte looked like he didn't miss a game. Luckily he hurt his off-hand, not his shooting hand.
February 23, 200916 yr Delonte is the key to this team, actually. I know i know Mo and Lebron. Without Delonte they are a GREAT team...with Delonte they can be considered over the top. His shooting and long arms on defense and tenacity on D cant be matched anywhere else. I think if we are going to win the ring, we will need him healthy.

He plays the two guard but his roll is more like the alpha dog. Look at the stats when he's played. Lebron doesn't have to do as much work. Now if we can get the bench besides sideshow Bob and Big Ben into the Rhythm of things.
February 23, 200916 yr What Delonte brings besides shooting, that our other reserve guards lack, is perimeter defense. We saw that yesterday verse the Pistons who are very deep in terms of scoring guards.
February 23, 200916 yr If we can pick up Joe Smith through a buy out, I'll be feeling very good about our chances. I wonder if we could have pulled off the Mo deal without giving up Joe Smith..
February 23, 200916 yr ^ Unlikely.. he was the asset we gave up.. Damon Jones hasn't seen the court this year. Who else would we have given up?
February 23, 200916 yr Wow- looking back on the Mo trade, DannY ferry should be thrown in jail for robbery. At the time of the trade i was ecstatic, but looking back now you can see just how ridiculous it actually is.

February 23, 200916 yr I think/hope he meant that we robbed the other teams. Thats what I was thinking but it's not clear.
February 23, 200916 yr Yeah my bad...Ferry robbed the bucks...at the time of the trade i was just happy...but looking at the trade today opposed to 6 months ago, its laughable because it was hardly even a trade, we stole an all-star for a couple of old guys who dont play.

We gave up a horrible contract (Damon Jones) and a guy who is a solid, reserve big man (Joe Smith) who we can potentially get back in a couple of weeks.. So it could turn out to be Mo Williams for Damon Jones. Haha.

And delonte has allowed Wally, Sasha, Boobie and that super skinny kid (I can't think of his name to save my life) to get into the rotation and get minutes. That time will be beneficial down the stretch.
February 23, 200916 yr and that super skinny kid (I can't think of his name to save my life) Tarence Kinsey
