April 22, 200916 yr yeah this is defo stock image, i just turned the game on in time to see the whistle and a shot of downtown before the commercial and there was NO red key logo on top of the key tower. Ha those were put on top of the tower what 3 or 4 years ago??? I JUST SAW THIS. THANKS! ASSESS WILL ROLL.

When the game started and the network went with an aerial shot of downtown before they wen to commercial break, the camera portrayed a Cleveland that was well after the sun had set. In actuality, the sun was just setting and there was a lot of light. I can imagine that all the Clevelanders who where watching the game on TV were thrown for a loop.
April 22, 200916 yr LA still isnt taking Cleveland seriously, in fact, i dont think many people in the country are. Its nice to see that the "experts" on ESPN and people like Jim Rome are finally giving us our dues...but people like to hate our sports teams for some reason. I think our guys can man up. Traveling around the country, I've noticed that people don't hate Cleveland or its sports teams. It's worse. People don't even think about Cleveland. And why should they? What has Cleveland sports done in the lifetimes of maybe half the people alive? What have they done to earn attention, let alone respect? OK, we've earned attention with 66 regular season wins. But regular season achievements are nothing that the Indians and Browns haven't done in my lifetime (I'm 41). If Cleveland teams won championships in the regular season, we wouldn't be in a 45-year drought. Prove you're champions, Cavs. Prove you're a champion, Cleveland. BTW, nice win tonight despite the pathetic fourth period. "In the souls of the people the grapes of wrath are filling and growing heavy, growing heavy for the vintage." -- John Steinbeck

April 22, 200916 yr the whole thing of the starters having to come back in to take care of business on this lame detroit team has me pretty worried as i watch the lakers....
April 22, 200916 yr Why? The Lakers aren't exactly blowing out the Jazz. I agree, neither team played well toward the end of the game. Our bench went cold for ~6 minutes. I'm sure Mike will address that.
April 22, 200916 yr I wouldn't expect a wholesale benching of the Cavs starters while playing the Lakers. I think the games will be much closer.
April 22, 200916 yr I wouldn't expect a wholesale benching of the Cavs starters while playing the Lakers. I think the games will be much closer. Lets take one series at a time folks! ;)
April 22, 200916 yr There was one shot last night showing "MVP" down the center of BP Tower (or whatever it is today). I don't know if that was stock but that sure looked nice, along with the aerial shots above Key showing Public Square and the Mall. Great exposure for a great city.
April 22, 200916 yr I gotta add though, that the play during the fourth quarter was unacceptable. How the hell do you go from almost 30 points up to single digits within 6 minutes of play? Within those six minutes, no one drove to the basket, was fouled, or anything. That CAN NOT happen in Detroit, or against any other play-off team if we want to make it to the finals and beat the Lakers (and yes, I believe we can).
April 22, 200916 yr Look at who was in the game. Is Daniel Gibson able to create his own shot? Is Wally Szczerbiak able to create his own shot? Is Darnell Jackson able to create his own shot? I'm not too worried when we have the starters and regular bench players in the game.
April 22, 200916 yr I am saying why we weren't driving to the basket when we had a bunch of guys in the game that can't create their own shot. There is a reason some of them don't play much, and those 5 never play together unless it's a blowout. The Lakers have their fair share of guys that don't create much offense as well. They just were never up by enough points to be able to afford the luxury of throwing them all out on the court at once. I think it's encouraging our regulars were able to blow the Pistons out by so much regardless of what the bench did for the first half of the 4th quarter.

I'm not too worried when we have the starters and regular bench players in the game. I hear your point, but to know that you are in the penalty and not drive to the basket knowing you have the chance at an extra point from the free throw line... is unacceptable. Even for Boobie. You won't see Wally drive too much, but he did drive at least once to the basket during the home stretch.
April 22, 200916 yr I hear your point, but to know that you are in the penalty and not drive to the basket knowing you have the chance at an extra point from the free throw line... is unacceptable. Even for Boobie. You won't see Wally drive too much, but he did drive at least once to the basket during the home stretch. I recall him driving to the basket twice in this series (and those are about the only two times I can EVER remember him driving to the basket). Once was last night when he took a hard foul at the rim. The other was from nearly the same spot and resulted in one of the weakest dunks in the history of dunk-kind. Both times were defensive breakdowns where he had noone guarding him and a lane to the hoop about 15 feet wide. I think Z could have even lumbered in there. Wally does some good things, but he's just way too damn slow to EVER get past anyone. That is why he doesn't drive. Gibson is fairly quick, but he is a little too weak and not slippery enough to get around many defenders, and when he does get into the lane he tends to make terrible decisions. I'm not saying they shouldn't have tried to drive more, but these are guys that do not play with the mentality that they are going to create shots for themselves, they are used to being set up by others. It is tough when you put a bunch of players on the floor like that. They don't just magically switch into a mode where they all of a sudden have the ability to get around the man guarding them.
April 22, 200916 yr you are right on about tht j4j, except i will point out that our bench as a whole had a total of 10 pts. that less than either brown or odom individually.
April 22, 200916 yr FYI: Drew Carey was at the game last night and reports that the May 5th episode of THE PRICE IS RIGHT will have a trip to cleveland and cavs tickets as part of the showcase showdown. Drew is great.
April 28, 200916 yr some video fun during the lull via espn.... Updated: April 24, 2009, 5:03 PM ET Close enough to taste it http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=4087311 LeBron's hunger has infected his teammates. Not that they can't have a good time.
April 28, 200916 yr Thank you for that picture. I just had that uploaded as the screen saver on my Chicago Mangers PC. LOL >:D

May 2, 200916 yr I agree with James. It almost feels like the Cavs aren't in the playoffs anymore. "In the souls of the people the grapes of wrath are filling and growing heavy, growing heavy for the vintage." -- John Steinbeck
May 2, 200916 yr The wait ends Tuesday. Satisfy your craving by watching the game Sunday for scouting purposes.
May 2, 200916 yr ^that's what I'm hoping for. I really don't want them to play on Friday evening due to some social plans that I have. Go Cavs!
May 2, 200916 yr Does anyone know when game 2 would be played? I can't find it anywhere. 7 p.m. on Thursday

May 4, 200916 yr A feel good article from USAToday: LeBron James driven to win it all By Tom Withers, AP Sports Writer INDEPENDENCE, Ohio — Nobody will be there, Cavaliers coach Mike Brown thought as he left the house early one morning last May. It was a few days after Cleveland's disappointing season ended with a bitter Game 7 loss on Boston's famed parquet floor and it was down time. The Cavs had dispersed to Cancun, the French Riviera and other vacation spots for rejuvenation and reflection. Brown was headed to the team's plush training compound with his son, Elijah. Time for some father-son bonding with nobody around but security guards. But as the Browns walked in the door, the lights were on in the gym. And as they neared the courts, they heard the thump, thump, thump of a basketball kissing hardwood. One Cavalier stayed home. LeBron James was already back at work. May 4, 200916 yr I'm officialy mad.. I have been switched to work the even shift for a few weeks.. Have to listen to the games on the radio. Not happy about that!
May 4, 200916 yr I always enjoy reading the other's team's home paper on the take of things....in this case, the Atanta Journal-Constitution http://www.ajc.com/ First article on the series: Hawks fans: ‘Bring on LeBron!’ By LARRY HARTSTEIN Atlanta Journal-Constitution Sunday, May 03, 2009 Chants of “Bring on LeBron!” pierced CNN Center as Hawks fans poured out of Philips Arena Sunday afternoon. For fans who had watched their team win a playoff series for the first time in a decade, the Game 7 trouncing of Miami was an occasion for giddiness. “I think they can go all the way,” declared season-ticket holder Roosevelt Wilson, a 49-year-old postal worker. “We can beat anybody here in our house. We just need to sneak one out on the road.” That will be a monumental task against LeBron James and his Cleveland Cavaliers, who went 39-2 at home. James averaged 26.3 points as the Cavs beat the Hawks three of four times this season. Cleveland finished with the NBA’s best regular-season record, 66-16, then destroyed Detroit in a four-game playoff sweep. Still, fans spent Sunday relishing the Hawks’ first playoff series win since a 3-2 victory over Detroit in 1999. May 4, 200916 yr More news coming out from USAToday about ..about impending news! : Reports: LeBron to be named NBA's MVP this afternoon Cleveland Cavaliers star LeBron James is expected to be named the NBA's Most Valuable Player on Monday afternoon, according to reports. The Associated Press and Cleveland Plain Dealer, both citing a league source, report that James is to receive the award at his preps alma mater, St. Vincent-St. Mary High School in Akron, Ohio. James would become the first player in franchise history to win MVP honors. He also finished second in voting for defensive player of the year. James averaged 28.4 points, 7.2 rebounds and 7.6 assists during the regular season, when the Cavaliers notched a franchise-record 66 wins. He led the Cavs to the Eastern Conference semifinals after a first-round sweep of the Detroit Pistons. The Cavs open their second-round series against Atlanta on Tuesday night. May 4, 200916 yr ^EXCELLENT!! Coach of the year, MVP of the year... all we need is a championship this year and this could be one of the greatest, if not THE greatest year in Cleveland sports history! Congrats LeBron!
May 4, 200916 yr ^EXCELLENT!! Coach of the year, MVP of the year... all we need is a championship this year and this could be one of the greatest, if not THE greatest year in Cleveland sports history! Congrats LeBron! I know! Once game/series at a time. Lets not get ahead of ourselves. ATL isn't going to be a cakewalk like the pissed-ons. We won 3-of-4 against the sparrows, so I expect us to lose a game, at home, then get back to reality and take the series in 5. It's going to be a very physical game and I hope delonte, Joe & sideshow Bob step up to the plate.
May 4, 200916 yr We won 3-of-4 against the sparrows, so I expect us to lose a game, at home, then get back to reality and take the series in 5. Hmm...I dont see them losing at home. I think these guys are licking their chops to play...i think game 1 will be an absolute massacre. They have been watching everyone play for a week, and i think they are revved up and rested. I say they lose game 3 in Atlanta, but agree they win in 5. Congratulations to Lebron...he is a true Ohioan and a good role model
May 4, 200916 yr Live streaming at 4 pm http://www.nba.com/playoffs2009/live1/ AND apparently Fox Sports Ohio will be covering ...something LIVE. My guess is ASVSM gym. ?? EDIT: well it looks like a press conference is what it will be.
May 4, 200916 yr Is there anywhere where I can stream the game live online?? This is the one reason it sucks not having a TV.
