  • massive team effort & big win on espn vs okc tonight — awesome game and superb coaching and substitutions — anyway, i watched most of it out, but the end back at our dystopian atlanta hotel - 😂🎉

  • Great win! Six-and-one!! Great to see Garland and Mitchell together for a full game. Those two are going to be magical as they play together more.

Unless he called Lebron, and Lebron goes "Im not telling you where to live Shaq, but live in Akron..."

I do that drive every day and let me tell you it is no fun. I think I did hear that same rumour about Akron though.

Its a possibility. Northside lofts are nice and have a great view.. I've even seen deer at the cvnp train station across the street so its kinda downtown living with nature in one area. Plus luigis pizza... yum

Fan frenzy: Season-ticket sales soaring for Cleveland Cavaliers

by Brian Windhorst/Plain Dealer Reporter

Wednesday July 15, 2009, 10:08 PM

LAS VEGAS -- LeBron James has been selling out The Q since he was in high school, but the Shaquille O'Neal effect appears as if it may press interest in the Cavaliers to an all-time high.

In perhaps the toughest economy in the NBA's history, the Cavs are showing a surge in season-ticket sales and experiencing a jump in ticket revenue. In an internal league memo prepared for this week's NBA Board of Governors meeting in Las Vegas obtained by the Plain Dealer, the Cavs rank first in several season-ticket sales categories.

I have it under good authority that he's not looking there.

Shaq is talked about on realestalker.com so I'm sure it will be posted up on there when he does decide.

guys...shaq's not driving the car if you know what i mean, what does he care? it's just some relax time to him.

also, he's probably used to that kind of commute given the sprawl where he's lived and played, ie., los angeles, orlando...

I'm not 100% sure, but I don't recall Shaq having a driver, a bodyguard, yes, a driver no.

Shaq does not drive himself everywhere. He's a star.. He likes to make an entrance in a limo or something flashy..

The Cavs have supposedly signed Jamario Moon to an offer sheet.  Miami will have an opportunity to match.  Given what we have left to spend, the offer can't be for much but I would still be suprised if Miami matches given its other, more urgent needs.

Moon could play a role on this team.  29 yr. old 6'8 SF.  You could probably run him and LBJ together a lot with the Shogun in the middle.  Gets by more on his athleticism and hustle than talent.  A lot like AV in that respect.  Broke into the league late as a 27 yr old rookie with Toronto IIRC.  47% FG, 35% 3FG and 85% FT.

Cavs ink Moon to offer sheet

The Cleveland Cavaliers have continued their offseason remodeling by signing restricted free agent Jamario Moon to an offer sheet.  Full details of the offer sheet are unlikely to be known until Monday, when the contract is submitted to the league office.  But sources said that the deal signed Friday, which Heat officials confirmed after an ESPN.com report earlier Sunday -- spans two guaranteed years.

The Miami Heat will have seven days to match the offer once it's formally processed, but Cleveland would appear to have a good chance of landing Moon given Miami's well-chronicled desire to avoid new contracts longer than one year to protect its 2010 salary-cap space.

O'Neal courts competition on new reality show 'Shaq Vs.'

NBA star Shaquille O'Neal is getting ready to multitask.  The four-time hoops champion, who joins the Cleveland Cavaliers next season, will star in Shaq Vs., an ABC reality series that pits him against top athletes in their own sports.

Filming begins Wednesday in Pittsburgh, where Shaq takes on Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger in football. Future hour-long episodes will pit him against Olympic swimmer Michael Phelps, retired boxer Oscar De La Hoya, St. Louis Cardinals first baseman Albert Pujols, tennis pro Serena Williams and beach volleyball Olympians Misty May-Treanor and Kerri Walsh.

I'm scared to see Shaq's bicycle.

Interesting concept... wonder how it will play out..

well, this will make the news even if it is grainy footage.

'Oh My Gosh!': Actual videos of the Jordan Crawford dunk on LeBron James

Finally!

The long awaited, highly anticipated video of Jordan Crawford's dunk on Cleveland Cavaliers forward LeBron James at his LeBron James Skills Academy in Akron several weeks ago, was released by TMZ.com awhile ago.

Miami has declined to match the offer for Moon.

Just a rumor, and even with his history of knee problems (3 ACL tears), I would love to have this guy:

I'm told by another source (these things are just coming out of the woodwork these days) that Leon Powe is considering an offer from Cleveland.

(continued...)

that link isnt working..... as for as Leon Powe goes. I've never really been a fan, hes a good player but Im not sure where he would fit into the lineup.

^I cut and copied the story from the blog.

The Cavs beat writers are saying that the Cavs have interest, but no offer has been made.

^ You have to take that with a grain of salt.  The Cavs could have called the agent to simply inquire how his rehab is, etc.. and the agent blows that up to draw more interest in his client.  At this point, the Cavs have interest in all available back-up big men.

New Cleveland Cavaliers forward Jamario Moon happy to play alongside LeBron James instead of against him

Tuesday, July 28, 2009

Jamario Moon crossed his fingers and kept them that way all last week. Only when the Miami Heat declined to match the Cavaliers' two-year, $6 million offer sheet to the restricted free agent did the forward relax at the news he was headed to Cleveland to play alongside LeBron James.

I always liked Kinsey, but w/ the acquisition of J. Moon and the potential singing of rookie Danny Green, there just wasn't room for him on the roster. That DUI a couple weeks ago prob didnt help either.

Cleveland Cavaliers' LeBron James about to embark on a Nike "World Tour," including Paris, London, Beijing

Cleveland Cavaliers forward and NBA MVP LeBron James will do more traveling over the next seven weeks than he's ever been cited for on the basketball court.

I actually just want Joe Smith.  Joe knows his role and can play defense.  Maybe we can get both??

Cavaliers not done shopping; team reportedly offers contract to Grizzlies' Hakim Warrick

by Brian Windhorst, The Plain Dealer

Thursday July 30, 2009, 11:27 PM

The Cavaliers' major moves are done, but the finishing touches may not be.  According to a league source, the Cavs have a contract offer out to a forward and are hoping to get an answer within the next few days. That forward is believed to be Hakim Warrick, a 6-9 athletic big man who has played the past four seasons with the Memphis Grizzlies.

^ He signed with the Bucks.

  • 2 weeks later...

^ I like it, low risk, high reward.  He specifically said he wanted to sign with a top East team just to stick it to the Celtics.  That's the kind of guy I want in the playoffs.

  • 1 month later...

It is taking far too long a clean up the massive Cavs Discussion thread.  Since the start of the 2009-2010 season is fast approaching, here is a temporary fill-in thread you can post to while the full thread is being cleaned.

When the full thread is cleaned, it will be merged with any posts in this thread.

I am preparing for my first full season of season tickets.  Could not have picked a better year IMO.

I would like to formally invite all Cincinnatians and Daytonians to officially jump on the bandwagon... if it is not too painful to root for a Cleveland team.  With the Cavs being the only professional basketball team in Ohio and with their leader (and arguably best player in the world) being an Ohio product, I hope the whole State can get on board.  West Virginia, Wester Pa and Western NY seem to gradually latching on, but I have yet to run into someone from Southern Ohio at any of the games.  What NBA team(s) do people from Cincy and Dayton usually root for?

I lived in Cinci for four years (college) and I'd say most don't watch NBA (at least from 98-02 when I was there).  It would drive me crazy when we had the TV on at work and they would not give 1 NBA score on the local news but spend the majority of the sports segment discussing Nascar.

I think ever since the Royals left town, they focus more on college hoops.

Correct me if I am wrong Cincinnatians.

I understand that it is really not an NBA town.  I lived in NC for seven years, so I know how that goes.  However, its not like there are NO NBA fans in the areas, and was just wondering how the Cavs are recieved down there.... i.e. if their is any allegiance to Ohio's only team?

I actually havent seen too many Cavs fans in my area. UK basketball seems to dominate Kentucky and even parts of southern Ohio. I think people focus more on college and high school basketball than the NBA. I'm sure it would change if Cincy or Louisville got an NBA team but the chances of that happening are slim.

UK and Louisville seemed to outshine OSU in football down there as well. Nascar as CorySnyder mentioned is pretty big as well. Columbus and Cleveland seem to have more in common with sports than Cincy and Columbus.

i don't think it would be too painful for them to root for the cavs this year. it will just be painful when, well, you know, its cleveland sports, i dont have to say anymore to you hts. just make sure any of you new fans have plenty of rolaids and a case of jamesons.
