Hmm..... maybe you should read the article again? That's not what I took from it at all. But that would be from an insider's perspective.

I agree, that's not what I took from the article. I thought the article accurately portrayed the city, which is a city with an industrial past, but at the same time is a city moving into the future with an evolving identity.

I will be watching the game tonight, I think it will be really exciting and I hope that we win.

The Land has been one of the nicknames for Cleveland since the mid-90s at least, specifically within the Black Community and within Hip-Hop culture. That along with C-Town, which more people may be fa

  • massive team effort & big win on espn vs okc tonight — awesome game and superb coaching and substitutions — anyway, i watched most of it out, but the end back at our dystopian atlanta hotel - 😂🎉

  • Great win! Six-and-one!! Great to see Garland and Mitchell together for a full game. Those two are going to be magical as they play together more.

Love that the "Akron hates you" cheer got a mention on TNT's broadcast...

Ugh! Did they have more turnovers than points? How embarrassing.

Well thank god that's over with

Cleveland has 99 problems, LeBron James isn't one of them: Phillip Morris

Can we please now get over this collective nervous breakdown?

Can we stop stabbing pins into voodoo dolls?

Can we self-medicate? Better yet, is there someone out there who can slap us back into reality the way Cher slapped Nicholas Cage in Moonstruck, or the way Kurt Russell used an open palm to get the attention of Billy Bob Thornton in Tombstone.

I think the answer is obvious. He's a convenient scapegoat.

It's not easy to properly channel decades of seething anger that is stoked by massive job loss, epic forecloses, unbridled public corruption, failing schools, rampant crime and a diminished standard of living."

Yeah, Phill...that's why we hate Lebron. Where have been over the last seven years? Did you see the "The Decision"?

Well that was embarrassing for the current team. Fans came out as passionate, but reasonable. I wanted to punch Marv Albers and Reggie Miller in the face during the whole broadcast though....

Trust me.  I'll take care of Reggie.  Trust and believe.

I have a few ideas, if you are soliciting suggestions.

I still can't believe that Barkley is now the voice of reason and balanced opinions in the NBA. Oy!

Trust me, my Grand father, gave me plenty.  He played the "heart string" card the entire damn game.

I scheduled a meeting in advance in the other tower to discuss several things.  If only one tower is standing later today....You know i've gone the fuck off!

Well make sure Chas B gets a nice Christmas bonus this year for finally seeing the light...A little extra money to take to the casino or track.

best fans ever!

i got the crap beat out of me by skinheads in Cleveland when i was a teenager after driving up there to see the old school punk rock band FEAR.  Promised i would never go back, too dangerous but after i heard yall on national public radio actin a fool like yall did i was like...hell yeah. Cavs fans is too ill.  "whois your daddy" ROFL dats just plain ol mean.

My wife said there were a lot of fights at the game last night..... especially in the seats closer to the court.  Glad TNT ignored those distractions.

I cannot help but be tempted to get in this too....  even after I have said a million times that eventough we love the sports, ( I am as big a fan as anyone of the Cavs, and other local teams) I played a lot of sports too...love the games, drama, enthusiasm and energy.....I realize we really do need to still focus more on not allowing sports to somehow, at least in the media, to define who and what we are as a city. We cannot be typecast like this, or do it to ourselves or we will set ourselves up for disappointment.

If you read some of the comments on Cleveland Dot Bomb...you see so many posting comments that have tones that if we cannot be superior in sports, than we are doomed as a city.....and it is because we are not palying well in sports, that somehow such makes everything hopeless in life. This is a sickness. Please, does ANYONE out there see this often prevailing media attitude too...and in those who know little if anything about their city other than what's on the menu at the nachos stand at the Q? Does anyone see the problems this creates with trying to define who we are other than sports and in telling the rest of the nation we are so much more?

Suddenly, because we lose, it makes everything about Cleveland SUCK! Is a  sports team all we have to look forward to? Of course not, but by looking at the attitude of many, you would think so.

This mindset needs to change...and those who subscribe to it need to discover a new gig and learn other aspects about their city/region. Its pathetic... More pathetic an attitude than the gutless performance last night that had team mates being all chummy with LBJ.

i've heard that sporting events in Cleveland can be quite violent.

^Yes, at little leauge games in Clevleand the losing coach has to have a finger removed!!!

Lets get back to the CAVS

My wife said there were a lot of fights at the game last night..... especially in the seats closer to the court.  Glad TNT ignored those distractions.

My brother said there were 2 altercations.  The crew counted 3.

What is your wifes definition of "a lot"?

i've heard that sporting events in Cleveland can be quite violent.

Oh come on.

Well, there's always...

I'm still trying to figure out if that is a man or woman?  She/He is so Pat from SNL!

I thought it was Mimi from Drew Carey with a new wig.

That's three more than you typically see at a Cavs game.  I believe your count was similar to hers for courtside or close thereto.  I figured at least one of those was an plain clothes cop trying to remove an unruly fan and the fan not cooperating.  But there was also a fight and two near alterations in our section..... Which is in the middle bowl

The altercations my brother & crew witnessed were those being asked to quit yelling and sit down or put signs down that blocked other view away and didn't comply.

Grnted there are probably more fights on a regular game that we dont see.  So Id say the numbers are skewed at best.

Anyway...there were no big f$&kups!

Minnesota 129, Cavs 95!

Going into the game, Minnesota had a 4-15 record, and was without their best player last night.  The Cavs were down by 40 at one point.  Wow!

That was bad coming off the Miami game where they were clearly beaten mentally.  To come back and get waxed by (among) the worst team in the league...not good.

Cavs have given up, time to trade for draft picks.

This team should be getting better as the year goes on as they learn to play without "he who left" and clearly define eachothers roles... but this team is getting worse game to game.  They're really hard to watch right now.

yeah i like the cavs players and i like to watch them, but this is an awful team. no thanks to the idioctic carpet bagger owner running his mouth -- who would want to play for that guy? uggh.

Ever since Miami (well, really Boston), the Cavs have seem completely deflated.  I don't know what the problem is, but it's pretty damn upsetting as a fan.

I'm hearing chatter about trading Hickson. If they do that I'd be pretty upset. He's a solid young guy you can build a team off of. What would they trade him for, draft picks, an aging veteran to compliment Jameson?

I like JJ.... but not for much more than the way he throws it down.  He is an awful defender, gives poor effort for the full 48, is perhaps the worst rebounding starting PF in the league, and the list could go on.  Most importantly, he is dumb as a rock.  Honestly, we should have traded him during the off-season.  His value is probably half of what it was given how much difficulty he has had performing on a consistent basis despite being given consistent minutes.

If you can stockpile more picks, you do that.  If not, you have to get a big man in return.  Hickson + our trade exception could be intriguing to a few teams.  Personally, I think Iggy can be had for the right price and would fit in our system.  Get them to throw in Speights or Hawes and it is a done deal.

But I am not in favor of trading him for a veteran that can do no more than rise us up to the level of mediocrity.

At least they showed up to play last night...

Can we not put lebron shit in here going forward?

Yes he was a Cav, but we have the general NBA thread and I honestly dont want to see his crap clutter up the current cav thread!

Coconut Grove?  Yawn!  So what he bought a house in a tacky subdivision!

hmm, what to do with these mark price and foots walker new home articles...?!

If I had Lebron money I sure as hell wouldn't have a couple dozen other people's condos cluttering up my ocean view.

Can we not put lebron sh!t in here going forward?

Quite right!  If someone would like to start a discussion on Lebron's post-Cavs career, please start a Lebron thread.

Please don't.  Put it in the NBA or other applicable existing thread like "pet peeves!"

So the Cavs are so bad now, I can't even sell tickets on ebay for $0.99.  That's right, 7 day auction with tickets starting at $0.99 didn't get 1 bid.  Amazing.

Cavs showed up to actually play tonight against the heat. Mo choked on the go ahead 3 and they still lost, but it resembled basketball and Jamieson had a nice clothesline hard foul on LBJ.

Yeah, that was fun to watch, even with the loss.

yep they stepped up to the plate and it was fun!

  • 2 weeks later...

The Cavs waived Jawad Williams, which is not a huge surprise because his contract was non-guaranteed but became guaranteed if still on the team on January 10.  But the Cavs ALSO sent Samuels to the D-League.  Something's brewing with that trade-exception, me thinks...

Does Byron Scott remind anyone else of Sgt. Doakes from Dexter?

Shawn Marion, DeShawn Stevenson lead banged-up Mavs to win

CLEVELAND -- Dallas coach Rick Carlisle knew his short-handed team needed a boost to break its three-game losing streak.

Leading scorer Dirk Nowitzki was on the bench in street clothes for the fourth straight game because of a sprained knee. Caron Butler, the Mavericks' third-leading scorer, was flying back to Dallas with a knee injury he suffered Saturday night in Milwaukee that could possibly keep him out for an extended period of time.

Carlisle ended up with plenty of volunteers to pick up the slack in Sunday night's 104-95 win over Cleveland.

Cavs have shown interest in Blatche

9:50AM ET

Andray Blatche | Wizards

There's several options to get such a deal done.

oh and i saw tron imax. eh, it didnt make me forget the original.

I never liked Blatche.  He's a knucklehead and he thinks he is better than he is.  He ain't a scrub (far from it), but he's not a centerpiece either (far from it).

I keep hearing that the Cavs might be the 3rd team in any Melo deal.  One rumor has it that a deal between us, NJ and Denver is on hold (b/c of Melo's sister's death) which would "net" us Devin Harris and some other pieces (possibly draft picks) basically for our trade exceptiong being included to make salaries match (once Melo re-ups).
