  • massive team effort & big win on espn vs okc tonight — awesome game and superb coaching and substitutions — anyway, i watched most of it out, but the end back at our dystopian atlanta hotel - 😂🎉

  • Great win! Six-and-one!! Great to see Garland and Mitchell together for a full game. Those two are going to be magical as they play together more.

Painful...

Aside from a brief glimmer of hope at the beginning of the season, I think it was clear that this was going to be a difficult year. A team that is build around 1 player, that then loses that player, is like a car driving on three wheels. You might get down the road a little bit, but eventually you're going to crash.

Boom.

No doubt the rest of the season will be painful, but my assessment of this team is really going to begin after this season is over, and how they rebuild. Then I'll be able to see what Grant, Gilbert, Scott, etc. are capable of doing (presuming 2 of those 3 are still here).

Still, losing by 55..ouch.

^That's Globetrotters territory.

Shannon Brown's half court shot made it 92-41 at the end of the third quarter.  At least the Lakers eased up in the 4th quarter.

More like driving without an engine.  I think the losses of Shaq, Z and West are also overlooked.  And say what you want about Coach Brown, but I'm thinking we might have been better off sticking with him.

Anyways, the Cavs need to lose.  My chief concern going into the season and especially after starting out playing .500 ball was slipping into a peretual state of mediocrity with no real way to improve

I agree... this is actually the best thing that could have happened to the cavs.  I thought they were going to be "mediocre", but the onslaught of injuries has been unbelievable.  We are basically playing with an 8 man roster right now... 4 or 5 of which are basically d-leaugers.  I feel bad for jamison, he really is the consumate pro handling this situation the way he has.

So who are we projecting as the top few players in the draft?

Not a very strong draft and CBA unrest may cause some players to return to school.  There are the two Jones guys, one at Ky and the other at Baylor, I believe.  There is Sullinger at OSU.  There is Irving at Duke.  If I were Grant, I would stockpile picks for 2012.  I think that class will be much deeper in talent.

I know not much to talk about...other than Cleveland is still #2 in the NBA for home attendance:

This is going to have to set an NBA record for highest attendance per victory in one season...by a long shot!

How many are season ticket holders?

"Wait 'til next year!"

Seriously, I expect next year's attendance to be "a bit" less.

Gilbert should provide free tix to this years season holders.  Between the Browns final four games, the Cavs historical and truly disgracefull fall, and the Indians inevitable sub 70 won season, I just care less and less about sports in this town.

If any UO member wants to brave the weather and see the Cavs break their losing streak tonight at the Q vs. the Pacers, you can have my 2 tickets.  Section 128.  No charge.  PM me and I can email the tickets to you.

This is not good.... you can't GIVE these tickets away :)

EDIT: game over.  We have a winner... or loser, depending on how you look at it ;)

What a team

At least last night's game was fun.

On the bright side, Manny Harris seems like a keeper.  Averaging about 20ppg over the last 4 and gives good effort on defense and rebounding the ball.  Seems like a Delonte West type player.... without the mental issues.  Great steal for an undrafted rookie free agent.

Thats about all the cavs have going right now.  Figure out if any of these Kids have talant and who should be kept and who should be moved.  If you look at the box score from last night these are really a bunch of nobodys.  4 of last nights starting 5 are under 25.

I was there.  It did turn into a really fun game in the second half.  It was my first game (in person or on TV) in awhile.  I was really impressed by the intensity that Eyenga plays with.  He played pretty strong defense on Granger overall I thought.  I was also pleasantly surprised with Manny Harris, especially his ability to push the ball on fastbreaks and to slash to the hoop in the halfcourt.  Only a one game sample, but still nice to see.

Cavs break a record and no one here says a peep?

I think we're pretending it didn't happen.

I had higher expectations for the team this year... but them bombing the season this year is actually a good thing.  The draft couldn't come sooner- and we'll undoubtedly get the first pick.  And underperformers, whoever they may be, are lining themselves up for a trade.  I think next year's team could look a lot different than what we have right now.

Not necessarily will they get the first pick.  The team with the worst record has a 25% chance of getting the first pick.

Keep in mind that although the worst team in the NBA has the best chance at getting the first pick, it's still only a 25% chance.

EDIT: I see smith beat me to it.

I'm keeping my hopes up :)

If they have the worst record, the lowest they will pick is #4.  The lottery only applies to the top three picks.  Every team who doesn't win one of those three spots, falls in line from there according to their record.

My concern is that, with labor unrest, this year's draft mey be rather weak.  Don't be surprised if some of the commonly mentioned top prospects (Irving, Sullinger, Jones, Fredette, etc) return to college.  The only guarantee is the bug man (Kanter) who was declared ineligible at Kentucky will be available.

Same here. I knew the Cavs weren't going to be good this year, but I didn't think they would be terrible. The Cavs are an embarassment and you know it's doing nothing but boosting Lebron's already large ego. Anyone else notices how often Lebron refers to himself in third person? The Cavs need to scrap their roster and start from scatch if they want to go anywhere. The Lebron saga has left a cloud hanging over the remaining players on the roster, and now some are even playing to be traded (i.e., underperforming).

this isn't last years team (not even considering lebron), and it isn't even the team that started the year 7-8. its a bunch of d-leaguers and some now very disinterested veterans. but there are still very much some keepers on this roster. it will be interesting to see how they move forward, but I for one am happy they haven't done anything stupid and are simply taking their lumps while figuring out their next move.

There are a lot of factors that contribute to this team being terrible. In addition to that guy that took his talents to South Beach, they lost Z, Shaq, and West. That's two starters and two rotation players out of a normal rotation. In addition, this team has had a rash of serious injuries. Andy(out for the season) Mo Williams(has missed 70% of the games), Boobie out for a considerable amount of time, Powe, and Parker. That means that for the majority of their games this year, they have been missing 7/8th of their rotation players from last year. Quite frankly, I don't  know how this team has been keeping games close as of late.

exactly.

Why you should be friends with a Cleveland Cavaliers fan

By Sylvie Branch, Yahoo! Contributor Network

Feb 7, 3:30 pm EST

With the loss to the Portland Saturday, the Cleveland Cavaliers have officially set the record for consecutive losses in a single season. Over at Gobbler's Knob, Punxsutawney Phil predicted an early spring, and I, along with the rest of the Cavs fans, can only hope this season will pass quickly. Like in the movie "Groundhog Day", it is like we are on a repetitive loop, loss after loss. It is beginning to all blend together.

There is really no need to go over the stats again. Cleveland fans know the sad truth all too well, and yet, they continue to watch, hope and wait for the rebuild. What needs to be reported on is the fans themselves. If you know a Cleveland Cavalier fan, count yourself lucky. There is no better friend to have then a Cavs fan.

Top Five Reasons to Befriend a Cleveland Cavalier Fan.

1. Loyal - a Cleveland Cavs fan will stick with you through the worst of times. They know your faults, and can love you regardless. In fact, even with glaring inadequacies, they can find something positive to focus on. You may hear, "You tried," "Good effort," "That was close, maybe next time." Loyalty is a rare commodity, so when you see a Cleveland Cavalier fan who still admits the Cavs are "their team," know you have found a loyal person.

2. Patient - Cavalier fans know this is not the season for a championship. They are willing to hold out......

I think in the long run the Cavs are better off being really bad for a couple of seasons so they can get some good draft picks and gut their roster. I would much rather see this than some team that is barely .500 each year and hopes for that 8 seed. If things for the Cavs would have fallen into place better this season we may have seen the later.

Rustbelter, I couldn't agree more.

126-119 Cavs beat the Clippers in OT. The streak is broken. In other news the Clippers are still a horrible road team.

About f$&king time. Come on guys,  beat Washington on Sunday so we can have a winning streak. Then you can tank a few more.

^Yeah I'd like to see them win a few in a row.  Don't win too many though :-D

Mo and JJ were amazing.  I expect JJ to get a few spots in Sportcenter's top 10.... especially that block of Griffin.

Agreed on that last comment bumsquare ;)

anyway glad to see the streak end tonight -- looked like a great game. also be sure to catch espn sportscenter if yr still awake they are having a lot of fun with it!

'Bout time! I realize we want a good draft picks. But I also don't want a Cleveland setting records for losing streaks. Too late. At least it's over...

I wonder how much of Scott's 30 min tirade after the loss to the Pistons was directed at JJ. He played like a man possessed last night. It's nice to see him coming along.

Ummm...  The Cavs just beat the Lakers.  :-o

HOLY SHIT!!!

I'm glad they can take that into the All-Star break

How about Kid Congo's dunk?

What a sweet redemption game after the last meeting with the Lakers! Nice to see a good, loud crowd there too!

Good crowd out there tonight.  Team played well too.

Take what we can get in this miserable season.

^ Exactly. The Lakers were sleep walking but the Cavs played with intensity and actually had a hot streak shooting. Thank god my kid likes to listen to the games as he is falling asleep or I would have even thought to turn it on.

^Makes me wish that I could see youtube at work.

Cavs trade Mo and Moon to the Clippers for a 2011 1st rounder pick  and  Barron Davis.

I like it. I liked Mo too, but it was obvious that we were not going to build a team around him. Two potential lottery picks plus the 2 or 3 developing guys that we already have, seems like a pretty good way to rebuild quickly.

Interesting..... so the pick is not protected at all?
