April 29, 200619 yr I thought I saw somewhere that it was just on ESPN. Oh well, I will make sure about the next game.
April 29, 200619 yr I'm glad LeBron responded with a strong game because we knew he wasn't going to have a repeated performance of what happened in Game 2. I am a witness to history being made before my eyes. LeBron is a historical player.
May 1, 200619 yr well that was a hell of a half tonight. wash was flat & lebron came out popping the threes. i hope drew is ok.
May 1, 200619 yr bleh. that was ugly. the whole second half just made me think bron is going to leave if gilbert/ferry don't get a better team around him.
May 4, 200619 yr Game 5 Cavs 121 Wizards 120 (overtime) Lebron James with an easy lay-up to win the game with 2 seconds left! :-D
May 5, 200619 yr I missed most of the game; luckily, I was able to see the last minute of overtime. Incredible clutch play by LeBron. MVP! MVP!!!
May 5, 200619 yr is there any doubt he can take it inside at will? tonight is big...big!!!!!! bron wants a crack at the pistons in a bad way. ps -- seems like drew is still hurting or not at his best? thats a problem.
May 5, 200619 yr tonight is big...big!!!!!! bron wants a crack at the pistons in a bad way. we'll be waiting.....
May 5, 200619 yr tonight is big...big!!!!!! bron wants a crack at the pistons in a bad way. we'll be waiting..... ^Location: payne ave rrrgh. frontrunner or bendict arnold? :whip: :shoot:
May 6, 200619 yr and we'll all be waiting too, pope; we'll wipe that nasty grin off Sheed's ugly mug ... CAVS ROCK, BABY!!!!
May 6, 200619 yr I was at Buffalo Wild Wings in Oxford watching the game, and the bar was packed with people watching the game and rooting for the Cavs. It was an incredible game. I sure wished I was in a Cleveland bar watching the game. WE ARE ALL WITNESSES is kind of tacky slogan, but I was really happy to embrace it tonight.
May 6, 200619 yr WE ARE ALL WITNESSES is kind of tacky slogan, but I was really happy to embrace it tonight. I'd give the slogan a 6 (out of 10), but I wish James took a number other than Michael Jordan's.
May 6, 200619 yr Great win by the Cavaliers! I think they need to sit Larry and start Flip. Hughes had a good game 5, but every other game he was just horrible. Flip Murray=Instant offense
May 6, 200619 yr Great win by the Cavaliers! I think they need to sit Larry and start Flip. Hughes had a good game 5, but every other game he was just horrible. Flip Murray=Instant offense I, too, was frustrated by Larry, b/c I know he's a much better player. He's got a lot of rust, plus I think, given his friendship and rivalry w/ Arenas, I think he was constantly trying to one-up Gilbert (well, we saw how that turned out). He violated that age-old premise of that great athlete: he didn't play "within himself"; he turned the ball over and took some wild shots... But Larry dished out 11 or 12 assists and, as usual, made some key D contributions. And let's not forget Game 5, where he carried the load, scoring-wise, while leading the triad of himself, Eric and Flip when LeBron went down on fouls (ridiculously, from a refs POV) in the 3rd quarter. Let's not give up on Larry just yet. Don't forget how we got off to such a hot start (and whipped these same Pistons) before Larry went down to injury. I also loved what Eric did for us; I was calling for his benching for Flip & Larry, and look how huge Snow stepped up for us. Go Cavs.
May 6, 200619 yr WE ARE ALL WITNESSES is kind of tacky slogan, but I was really happy to embrace it tonight. I'd give the slogan a 6 (out of 10), but I wish James took a number other than Michael Jordan's. I actually like the slogan, plus I love the commercial showcasing it. Last night I was definately a witness! I can't imagine a better series than the Cavs/Wizards was, but we'll see...
May 6, 200619 yr I am not as down on Larry as some of you guys are. I think that he has added a lot to the team over the past few games. How many steals did he have last night?? I am excited when I think about how well Larry will mesh with the rest of the Cavs next year if he can stay injury-free. Also, I really like the play of Varejao. He just keeps getting better and better. As he gains experience, he won't pick up some of stupid fouls that he makes now. A smarter and more experienced Varejao be a large asset to this team. Z is making me think that his long-term contract from last summer was a mistake. He was very important during the regular season, but he has seemed worthless in the playoffs. On the flip side, I couldn't stand to watch Snow during the regular season. I really like his play during the first round. He has been a good defender and has stayed within himself on the offense. He has also hit some clutch free throws. There is a different look in his eyes during the playoffs. I don't expect much against Detroit. I'd be happy if we lost in 6 (I want as many games at the Q as possible). I think that it was very important to have some playoff success. All year long, the second half demise of years past hung over this team. This season will do a lot for team and franchise confidence. I also think that it does a lot for Cleveland in that its the first playoff victory for any team since the Tribe's 1997 victories over NY and Baltimore. Things that Ferry needs to work on this summer: 1. Sign Flip Murray. 2. Move Z and pick up a younger and tougher center who plays good defense (I don't care about a loss in point production.) 3. Get a power forward who can post up better than Gooden. I like Gooden, but he may not be the best long-term solution for this team. 4. Take 10 years off of Steve Kerr and get him back into a Cavs uniform. Unless Damon Jones can be more effective, he looks like a bust. 5. Install electronic zappers in the Cavs' shoes that sent a jolt if a player stands still for more than 2 seconds when Lebron has the ball at the top of the arc.
May 6, 200619 yr WE ARE ALL WITNESSES is kind of tacky slogan, but I was really happy to embrace it tonight. I'd give the slogan a 6 (out of 10), but I wish James took a number other than Michael Jordan's. I think that its a bit cheesy, but I like it. Its cool seeing all these black "Witness" t-shirts around town. I have also seen some bed sheets hanging from balconies in Cleveland Heights with "Witness" written on them in black marker.
May 6, 200619 yr it's very corporate, but i like the slogan and the local nike commercial they were showing. i give the witness slogan 8 out of 10. i think "the q" is much cheesier. i watched at the riveria in greenwich village. its a red sox tavern so we had to wait for the moron red sox game to end to get it up on more tv screens, ugh, but whatev. lots of fans were rooting for both wizards and cavs, but everybody loves lebron. what a great game, very exciting. i hate to say it but an all-star team of wizards and cavs wouldn't matter vs the pistons. you never know tho, we'll see, thats why they play the game.
May 6, 200619 yr I like the commercials as well.....when I was in NYC last week watching the game, it was cool seeing Cleveland represented on TV...and it was even cooler seeing more people watch the TV's with the Cavs on, and less watching the Stankees...I mean Yankees.
May 7, 200619 yr what, no one's gonna mention Donyell's stellar play last night? 28 points on 11 of 15 shooting, plus 8 boards! The bench came through BIG TIME last night, outscoring the Washington bench 57-24. That's a difference maker...no doubt about it! On the Flip/Larry debate, Larry's with us long-term. He's got the contract. Flip will likely be signed in the off-season by someone with more $$$ to spend on him. And he deserves it! I like him off the bench, but when he's on and explosive and Larry's struggling, I sure do think twice about their roles. However, Larry came up big with 5 steals and 12 assists last night. Flip did the scoring, but both were critical to the win.
May 8, 200619 yr and we'll all be waiting too, pope; we'll wipe that nasty grin off Sheed's ugly mug ... CAVS ROCK, BABY!!!!
May 9, 200619 yr It is official! The Pistons went to the crossroads and sold their souls to the devil.....80% from beyond the arch....SHEESH!
May 10, 200619 yr and we'll all be waiting too, pope; we'll wipe that nasty grin off Sheed's ugly mug ... CAVS ROCK, BABY!!!!
May 11, 200619 yr its quiet in here. At least post some optimistic predictions for saturdays game, that i can mock you with later. (all pope taunting is in good fun and in the spirit of homerism)
May 12, 200619 yr Now Larry Hughes had to leave the team. Evidently his brother was shot dead last night.
May 12, 200619 yr ^ He wasn't shot. I heard he had a heart transplant and that he wasn't doing well lately. I am not the biggest Hughes fan, but I really feel for the guy and his entire family.
May 12, 200619 yr Evidently his brother was shot dead last night. Where'd you hear that? It's too bad that Larry's out indefinitely, but it sounds like the team is looking at it with the right perspective. There are lots of testimonials and personal thoughts from players and coaches on Cavs.com that speak to the true nature of a team.
May 12, 200619 yr A big brother faces loss with inestimable pain Friday, May 12, 2006 Bud Shaw Plain Dealer Columnist Larry Hughes got the tattoo his senior year in high school while his younger brother, Justin, faced a heart transplant. The choice might seem morbid but the intention was just the opposite. Hughes chose the Grim Reaper as a reminder that time with his brother was a gift, that life carried no guarantees. May 14, 200619 yr well if you ask any of my friends i said two things before yesterday's game: 1) cavs are a better team w/o hughes 2) saturday is the best chance that the cavs have of winning now, onto the guaransheed
May 14, 200619 yr i don't think hughes will be back from his injury to 100% until next year. slowing it up is a good way to approach the pistons.
May 15, 200619 yr well, you got your win yesterday kjp! lol! I had fun making that. Certainly more than Jack Torrance did in typing his! BTW, you ever notice in The Shining that each one of those pages with "All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy" typed on them is different? They must have had a whole secretarial pool typing up all those different pages. They sure didn't photocopy them! Back to the playoffs... One of these days I'll actually get around to watching them. May 16, 200619 yr now, onto the guaransheed How did the Pistons do tonight, Mr. Wallace? WAY TO GO CAVS!!
May 16, 200619 yr so on the radio it sounded like the pistons got homered (note, I am also a homer). Any "unbiased" input from cavs fans. Hell, maybe ABC will pick up these games now
May 16, 200619 yr good work rasheed! haha go cavs! i am absolutely sick with the way all of the announcers are explaining how the cavs arent winning but the pistons are losing? if they were the championship team they are supposed to be, then we should be done by now. The fact is that the cavs are not backing down. I dont think the cavs are the best team in the league, im just saying that the media covers this thing like its some sort of fluke. Charles Barkeley has never ever given the cavs credit for ANYTHING. I dont think the cavs are a championship winning team however they deserve a lot of credit for their performances lately. i am trying to be unbiased but its impossible. I am just pleased with the way the cavs made a stand and are looking great for next season. The washington series showed them how far they have come and the pistons series is telling them how far they have to go.
May 16, 200619 yr ^ Hey Pope, you can repost my quote again. The only thing you can bank on, now, is that your boy Wallace will talk even more smack... GUARANSHEED!!!!! :yap: :yap:
May 16, 200619 yr ^ Rasheed already has. When asked about the Cavs winning two games against the Pistons, he replied: "Even the sun shines on a dog's ass once in a while." Classy guy. I think his teammates should go to Oakland County Civil Court tomorrow and file a gag order against Rasheed. "In the souls of the people the grapes of wrath are filling and growing heavy, growing heavy for the vintage." -- John Steinbeck
May 16, 200619 yr it backfired, the cavs got guaransheedoff. :shoot:   nobody got homered. that game was hella tight all the way. how many times did the lead change just in the first half?!?! it was a great great game to watch, regardless of which team you wanted to win or even if neither was your team. best game i have seen of all the playoff games i've watched so far. could this team replace my fav clev sports memory of all time (the miracle of richfield)? i dk, but this team sure is a tough bunch. coulda been worse for the pistons if not for the cav turnovers and youthful mistakes. both teams were running like lightening in the first half, but the pistons are prone to looking like a normal team when the game is slowed down like it was later on. like i said above pope -- could be an achilles heel for them if they dont figure that out. in the meantime, nyahh baybee! go cavs!
