The Land has been one of the nicknames for Cleveland since the mid-90s at least, specifically within the Black Community and within Hip-Hop culture. That along with C-Town, which more people may be fa

  • massive team effort & big win on espn vs okc tonight — awesome game and superb coaching and substitutions — anyway, i watched most of it out, but the end back at our dystopian atlanta hotel - 😂🎉

  • Great win! Six-and-one!! Great to see Garland and Mitchell together for a full game. Those two are going to be magical as they play together more.

If someone would've told me a week ago that that Cavs would beat the Pistons by playing better defense than them and by winning close games in the 75 to 90 point range, I would've called them crazy.  Or if anyone told me a month ago that we'd be winning playoff games in the 4th quarter, I'd have had the same response.  I'm amazed that we're shutting the Pistons down and getting just enough offense in the final quarter to outpace them.

Congrats to the Cavs!  It's a great feeling watching these games at the local bars, where everyone gasps and cheers with every shot.

well i did, but I didn't need to talk to her about her DUI

^ oh, like your mom's wouldn't be drunk with joy if you were so famous and were making the lebron money???  :-o

mine would be. hell, i'd pour.

i would get her a permanent on-call driver tho. i mean duh.

I certainly envy you Cavs fans, with the excitement of the beginning of a new era finally starting to come to fruition...I've been in Cincinnati since 1997, and the only time I've started to feel that was this past fall with the Bengals.  In 1999 the Reds made a run, but that was different - I don't think anyone expected anything from them that year except to make a little noise, and that's all they did.  But the playoffs?  With a great team with the whole future ahead of them, taking its first huge steps?  Last time I really saw that was the Tribe in 1995, and hopefully the Reds this year!

All the best to the Cavs, and envy from down south!

don't envy us...JOIN us!  the Cavs are Ohio's team!

Never really cared for basketball, unfortunately...but if I did, I'd definitely be with you!

RiverViewer -- I don't expect us to win the championship this year or even outlast the Pistons. I figured the playoffs would just be a learning experience for the Cavs to take the next step next year. But, yes, I'm enjoying watching them learn.

If we could just get another big-time playa to complement Lebron and take some heat off him. Like Jordan needed Scottie Pippen (without the baggage), Lebron needs __________!

Holy ----! Wow.

I'm so proud of the Cavs, I could burst.  They may still not win, but I'm banking they do.  But even if they don't, how can you not love the pluck of this team.  Detroit is everybody's odds on favorite to win it all.  But we have these guys on the ropes, and can deliver the knock out punch down at the Q on Friday.  I don't know about you guys, but I'm hanging out downtown, even if I don't get a ticket.  I want to be at a Sports bar w/ fellow Clevelanders to soak all this in... We deserve it as much or more than any other fans... any other city.

This is a very exciting series. I'm certainly pulling underdog Cavs. I just love it when all the experts and pundints eat their own words. And Rasheed's arrogance makes this latest victory much more sweet. The eyes of the country is on Cleveland and Lebron, if they can put away the Pistons in one of the next two games it would be a storybook ending. Expect Lebrons profile to increase exponentially.

Go Cavs!!

I don't remember the last time I've had this much fun with Cleveland sports.  What a wild ride these playoffs have been!

I went to the game last saturday at the Q, and subsquently to bars to watch the game. I don't remember people having this much fun either. It has been a pretty incredible showing of spirit.

well... this is suprising and i have never been happier. Detroit is on the ropes.

except the fact that friday night im going to be singing at a CSU concert. My high school jazz choir is guest at the concert. If anyone is going clap loud lol. Im gunna be checkin the stats while im singing! downtown is gonna be CRAZY!

finally my fellow peers are starting to think more about cleveland than "cali" cuz its always about the OC and SH**. Can't stand it.

where's everyone watching the game tonight?  Downtown?  East?  West?  South?  Home?  I'll either be in Cleveland Heights or Downtown...

^I thought that you were going to be in Tremont?

oh no, of all people to not have faith....our pope!

its funny in detroit.

After the wings (best team in hockey during the regular season) got knocked out we all said, "well we still have the pistons"

If the pistons get knocked out, "well, we still have the tigers"

this only leads to the conclusion that the lions are going to the superbowl this year.

lol

well i was out watching for the 1st half but i couldnt take it anymore. but now that the 3rd qtr is over i'll just say its been an exciting tight game!

oy my noi vvv ss.

there it is.

no d rebounds, no win.

when the pistons, who have been throwing up bricks the whole game, can suddenly be allowed to shoot three times each trip down the court in the 4th qtr, it's curtains.

I heard they lost. I can't watch these games as I get too upset. That's one of the reasons why I stay away from sports... especially Cleveland sports. I always get let down over something which I have no control.

smack smack smack

(that's me talking smack, but not too much smack because there is still game 7)

honestly even taking this to a game 7 is a slap in the face to detroit.

i think the cavs missed their chance to capitalize, but game 7 will be amazing. Detroit was at its knees and we had them right where we wanted them.. o well.

just imagine next year with a 100% larry hughes!

(not saying our season is over now)

the party's over.....but it was quite a fun and exciting ride!

to do in the off season: ferry and the cavs need to get more talent around bron or they will end up being just another version of the iverson sixers.

This was the most fun that we've had in a while.  This will give the Cavs and the fan base a lot of momentum over the summer and into next season.

nice run.....too bad cleveland couldnt continue to represent Ohio in the NBA Playoffs. :|

Exactly or Kevin's T'wolves

I agree...I think some of this will spill over to the Indians and make the call that clevelanders (now ohiioans) care about all their sports teams...not just the Browns.'

All I can say is......"witness" the future of NBA basketball here in Cleveland!

It was a nice run.  Many props to the pope and his Piston's, the better team won.  I never dreamed we'd take mighty Detroit to 7 games (and on the brink of elimination in Game 6)... That said, it was a bit disheartening that the team punked out midway in the 3rd quarter, and that NOBODY stepped up to help LeBron who, imho, simply conked out under the pressure of having to carry the load.  The fact we scored only 61 points, ... 23 in the 2nd half!!!!?  (which by the way is the lowest for a game 7, and 3rd lowest overall, in NBA playoff history) -- and that tragedy laden/injury mired Larry Hughes was our 2nd leading scorer -- says more about the total disappearance of our supposed calvary that had, after all, helped forge a game 7 to begin w/.

I'm feeling my 'playoff fix' void already.  Thanks Cavs!  We'll be bigger and better next year.  Detroit (and the pope), beware.

don't you know?  that phrase was CREATED in Cleveland!!  :whip:

The Cavs as a team deserve many props.  With a couple exceptions, the Cavs as a TEAM outplayed Detroit, who is the pre-eminent team in the NBA right now.  In the end, we folded, but we made our run and we looked sweet doing it.

That said, I think all this negative talk about getting a supporting cast for Lebron is pretty lame.  It's typical end-of-the-season BS and there's no escaping it, but I just want to say that we gelled towards the end of the season for about two straight months...when it counted.

Of course we could always use an addition or subtraction here and there, but let's not forget that every one of our role players contributed in these two series.  If nothing else, I think this speaks to the great potential of this squad in 2006-2007!

Good post, Mr. Good Day ... I second that !!

While not Cavs related (though about basketball)

The demise of the Pistons, since they were up 2-0 on the Cavs, has been striking (have since gone 3-6).

Is it more the players losing touch with their "toughness" or is "Flip" not that good when it comes to pressure games/series?

no, the pistons firmly believe in the "switch"

i think the cavs would have had a much better chance against miami instead of detroit. oh well. next year. now get to work and earn some of that money we way overspent on you all those years ferry!

  • 2 weeks later...

at least we got beaten by the team that got beaten by the team that won the finals. that's err, something....!

...yeah, that's Cleveland, Memphis, San Antonio, Phoenix, Milwaukee, Indiana (beat by the team that got beat by the team that won the finals)...

And the Cavs/Pistons was the only Eastern Conference series to go 7 games.  Everyone else won or lost in 5 or 6...

not exactly, you missed a playoff round for all those other teams, except for the nets. technically, those teams got beaten by the team that beat the next team and that went on to win the finals. so they are all one more playoff game removed.

i didn't realize the cavs-pistons were the only seven game playoff series including the finals, thx that's a hopeful stat. still, cavs have a long way to go to get into the finals, ferry needs to get busy.

... mrnyc, he said in the Eastern Conference; the Mavs beat the Spurs in 7 (+ overtime, at that).

OK...enough looking back at last season.  What is Ferry going to do in the draft?  Package picks/players and trade up?  Hope one of the top PG's slips to 25?

ben wallace will be booed by me. you wanted more than 12 mil a year for a great defensive game, but zero offensive game? enjoy your eigth seed if you are lucky

The Wallace move hurts Detroit and helps Chicago. But even with Wallace Chicago won't win much more than 50 game unless they get someone who can help Wallace in the paint. It does set the Cavs up nice to possibly win the division next year and get a #2 seed.

They drafted Tyrus "I can dunk the basketball from the 3-point line" Thomas to help with their inside presence.

Duly noted. Although the his transition to the NBA game might take a year. Let's hope Z and Hughes can get off their collective asses next year and bring their game up a little to compete with Chicago and Detroit.
