November 15, 201311 yr I had no interest in this season at all once they rehired Mike Brown. I knew the season was going to be terrible once I heard that. Ruined the fun for me before the season even started.
November 17, 201311 yr Cavs fortunate to win tonite. I know it's early but we still can't get any scoring inside the paint. Would like to see what Bynum looks like at the end of the game. Might be less of Irving dribbling into trouble in the final seconds.
November 21, 201311 yr I believe he deserved to be booed 5-37 from the field is EXTREMELY UNACCEPTABLE!! Boos cascade down on Anthony Bennett during Cavs loss to the Wizards Wednesday night Fans are frustrated. Last night, after Bennett's latest three-point attempt failed to brush the rim, boos rained down on the struggling rook. Hearing the gesture caused fans and media members on Twitter to express how they felt. http://www.cleveland.com/cavs/index.ssf/2013/11/fans_boo_anthony_bennett_durin.html#incart_river_default
November 21, 201311 yr I'm mixed. He's certainly getting paid to do better than he is and it certainly was his choice to come out after his freshman year. But he is just so young and I imagine his confidence is as fragile as an egg at the moment. Regardless of whether the fans are right or wrong to boo him, he NEEDS TO STOP LAUNCHING 3-pointers. He can't even make lay-ups at the moment! On another note......dear lord I wish Bradley Beal could have fallen to us last year....
November 23, 201311 yr I wouldn't boo him just because the front office made the mistake of drafting him.
November 23, 201311 yr Kyrie blew the game tonight, no ifs, ands or buts… with a 12-point lead, 4:40 left and the ball, Kyrie attempts a foolish alley-oop pass early in the shot clock when we should have taken the air out of the ball. That’s trying to rub the opponent’s nose in it, and N.O. was fired up after that. Of course, Kyrie went on to commit what has now become his signature, hog-the-ball-turnovers late in the game, which added to the comeback… This kid has talent oozing out of him, but he lacks big-time maturity at this point… And Anthony Bennett didn’t play and is out of the rotation… The AB disaster just keeps getting worst…
November 30, 201311 yr This team is making me nauseous. The lack of mental toughness is astounding. If making the playoffs really was the goal, perhaps going into the season with the second youngest team in the league was not such a good idea.
December 5, 201311 yr Have we turned the corner? Two quality wins in a row. They controlled the last two minutes and held onto the lead with no problem.
December 5, 201311 yr They still make me so nervous at the end of games. They didn't turn it over in the 4th tonight, and got in the bonus early. That really helped them control the game. Brown's rotations kind of make me crazy, although he kept it to just 10 players tonight.
December 5, 201311 yr I'm cautiously optimistic about the thought that we've "turned the corner" on this season. But I've been really happy with the way they've played the past two games. Kyrie seems to have gotten his mojo back, which is essential to our success and what we want to do on the floor. The hustle we've seen recently from the entire team is something I was expecting when the season started. The Bulls and Nuggets are not elite teams, but they are two teams that definitely make you earn everything you get on them. I actually liked the rotation last night. It was good to see Bennett out there moving around without the ball and that three guard front of Kyrie, Dion, and Jack is play better while all out on the court together at the same time. It also seems like Bynum is realizing his career is not quite over yet and he is starting to play like he realizes how much more money he could make if he can stay on the court.
December 6, 201311 yr The rotation was definitely better last night, but I feel like Brown still hasn't decided who his five best players are yet. Hard to argue with the results last night, but I don't like TT and Bynum on the floor at the same time. TT has improved so much offensively, but he can't post up or get his shots when Bynum is in there. I'd like to see Andy and TT start, with Bynum off the bench.
December 6, 201311 yr I like Andy off the bench. He is such a gnat to the other team if he comes in fresh when they are starting to get tired. If I was to do anything with the rotation, I might consider starting Jack at the 2 and cutting it down to a 3-guard rotation with Dion coming in halfway through the first quarter and then Jack starting the 2nd with Kyrie taking a seat. In theory, starting CJ is smart, but he has to be more consistent with his outside shot for that to work the way it is supposed to. TT is learning how to play with Bynum, as we've seen these past two games. I actually think that Bynum opens up the inside for TT more than Varejao would because Andy does not demand a double team. TT just needs to focus on finding that space on the other side of the rim from where Bynum is posting and then wait for the pass or put himself in position to grab the boards. Bynum is actually a very good passer out of the double-team, although the Cavs don't seem to understand how to help him out by flowing to the open spots when the defense crashes down on him.
December 6, 201311 yr I agree with Jason Lloyd and Sam Amico in their columns of last week: Start Bennett!... Well, I can see sticking with this current lineup as long as it keeps us winning/competitive -- this team needs some continuity and consistency in its rotations... I do think Mike needs to get Bennett in more than 10 mins per game. He finally is showing a slight degree of comfort on the court, and the more time he gets, esp time on the court with quality players like Kyrie and Bynum who can "protect" him, can go a long way toward boosting his confidence. ... that one instance where he went off for 16 in the 4th quarter in that Orlando preseason game shows me that the kid isn't the total waste some think he is. He's got talent, he just needs to get a comfort level with the NBA. With most players, it takes time.
December 6, 201311 yr No one (except the most ignorant over-reactive fans) has ever denied that Bennett has talent. The problem is he is too "green" and I think there is a danger with rushing him or putting too much on his shoulder (I don't care how broad they are). Patience is the key here. We can't be that team which spends top 5 picks on a player and then gives up on them if they don't have the instant success of a select few. I am not as down on the pick as most. This year's rookie class has been probably as underwhelming as advertised. Some players have popped for a game here or there, but nobody is lighting the world on fire. I also have this feeling that Bennett, physically, still has some growing to do. Bradley Beal grew an inch this past summer and I can see the same thing happening with AB.
December 7, 201311 yr Man what is up with Kyrie. He has got to be putting up the quietest 20 pts/game ever. He just seems out of it and not really interested. Or does the prospect of him having to lead MikeBrowns offense really getting him down. Also I was a big proponent of drafting Anthony Bennett but either start him at the 3 or put him in Canton for about 20 games and let him play 40 minutes. Because right now he is clueless. And he's not gonna learn playing 5 min a night.
December 7, 201311 yr 20 points? He scored NOTHING against Atlanta. Neither did Bennett. So our last two #1 overall picks didn't produce a single friggin' point in last night's game. http://www.nba.com/games/20131206/CLEATL/gameinfo.html "In the souls of the people the grapes of wrath are filling and growing heavy, growing heavy for the vintage." -- John Steinbeck
December 7, 201311 yr Right now, getting off to a good start in a game is crucial to this team. We had a very ugly start to last night's game. None of the starters played well out of the gates, with the exception of Bynum. Remember what I was saying about CJ when he was on fire to start the season? Yep.... that's just who he is. I don't think we can afford to start someone as inconsistent as him. But then again, absent doing what I suggested and starting Jack, I don't know if there is a better option.... at least not until Karasev finishes puberty. No way I'm taking Dion out of that 6th man role in which he is currently thriving. His play has really stepped up and Bynum continues to improve since breaking out against Chicago and is really starting to get into a good groove on both ends of the floor. Bynum's last three games - 25.8 mpg - 18.0 ppg - 10.0 rpg - 2.0 apg - 2.7 bpg - 53.4% fg% Waiters last five games (since being placed into 6th man role) - 31.2 mpg - 20.0 ppg - 3.6 rpg - 3.3 apg - 52.9 fg% - 40.0% 3fg%
December 7, 201311 yr Ironically, most pundits said at the start of the season that if we get some good production out of Bynum this year that he, when paired with Kyrie, could make this a legit playoff team. I never expected this much (let alone this soon) out of Bynum -- and this little out of Kyrie. It's totally backwards! This team should be performing so much better with Kyrie, Tristan and Bynum forming the nucleus, and with Waiters, Jarrett and Varajeo leading the backcourt. Sure is taking a while for this team to gel. "In the souls of the people the grapes of wrath are filling and growing heavy, growing heavy for the vintage." -- John Steinbeck

So our last two #1 overall picks didn't produce a single friggin' point in last night's game. http://www.nba.com/games/20131206/CLEATL/gameinfo.html I know that. I just meant Kyrie in general even though he is averaging 20 a game has pretty much been a non-factor. Last night was last night, even his body language gave an indication he may be trying to do too much and it's messing with his game.
December 7, 201311 yr his mind is elsewhere? http://mweb.cbssports.com/nba/eye-on-basketball/24186645/rumor-kyrie-irving-could-be-headed-to-new-york-wockawockawocka
December 7, 201311 yr Three years until the end of his contract and his mind is elsewhere? New York media is so full of itself, or just plain full of it. If a non-NYC player bought a NYC postcard, they'd somehow turn that into a story that the player was looking for places to live in NYC.... December 7, 201311 yr ^ http://probasketballtalk.nbcsports.com/2013/11/04/ridiculous-rumors-no-kyries-not-going-to-new-york-in-two-years-kevin-martin-not-mad-at-okc/ New Yorkers can't get over the fantasy that their franchises can simply point at the player they want and that player will come. It seems to be a distorted view based on what the Yankees are allowed to do with no salary cap in baseball. In the NBA, no player has ever turned down a max extension off his rookie contract. LBJ, Wade, Bosh built in out clauses after 3 years, but none have ever just walked
December 7, 201311 yr ^ lol! did that rustle your jimmies? here is a little more ny news for you to balance it out. bronx edition. i work with a friend of kyrie's, i'm told he's quite happy where he is.
December 9, 201311 yr ^ lol! did that rustle your jimmies? Not in the slightest. It used to bother me a bit when the whole LBJ saga was going on and the NY media machine was treating it as a foregone conclusion that Lebron (and any other superstar they wanted) were going to sign with the Knicks. Ever since they were relegated to options D (Anthony) and F (Amare), it is simply something to chuckle at.
December 9, 201311 yr Hey that's just the New York mentality which says there are two different kinds of people in the world: those who live in New York City and those who want to live in New York City. "In the souls of the people the grapes of wrath are filling and growing heavy, growing heavy for the vintage." -- John Steinbeck
December 11, 201311 yr IMHO, best game of the season last night vs. New York. Good offensive output off a good defensive effort. And Kyrie with 37 points helps make up for his disappearing act last week. Like to see a little more consistency from game-to-game. Ever since they were relegated to options D (Anthony) and F (Amare), it is simply something to chuckle at. that wasnt directed to you. a certain someone decided to mess with the posts again, but nevermind. hey the cavs whipped the knicks. even tho they suck thats good. needless to say that was buried in the local news.
December 15, 201311 yr well a win is a win, but orlando had balanced scoring and it was the kyrie show for the cavs. thats troubling.
December 15, 201311 yr I sure would like to see Bynum at the end of one of these games soon. A big man that can shoot free throws. Time to give it a try.
December 18, 201311 yr arrgh buzzer beaters, but. he's watching too. with interest: Miami Heat superstar LeBron James took to Twitter to praise both teams. One of the best games this year so far if not the best. Cavs vs Blazers — LeBron James (@KingJames) December 18, 2013
December 18, 201311 yr Portland is just a ridiculous shooting team. I thought the Cavs actually played a really complete game. Too many offensive rebounds for Portland, but all those long rebounds off of 3s makes it hard for our bigs.
December 18, 201311 yr I haven't watched a single cavs game this season and have missed the last couple Browns games. I never thought I would say this, but I don't miss it one bit. I used to watch every browns game, and a lot of cavs games. All it did was ruin my day. Don't get me wrong, I'll be glued to the tv next season watching the Browns. If Lebron comes back or we pick something good up in the draft I'll probably watch the cavs when I can too. This season just hasn't been worth watching. Once they hired Mike Brown I lossed all interest. I still believe he is the reason we never won a championship.
December 18, 201311 yr You're missing a lot of good basketball. This team has loads of talent and is starting to gel. I've thoroughly enjoyed watching the development of all of the young players these past three years.
December 18, 201311 yr Even though they lost the last two games against Miami and Portland (both teams are over .750), they were both very entertaining games. I enjoy watching a Cavs game after I get home from work and sit down in front of the TV for dinner. Sometimes I get pissed. Sometimes I cheer. Either way I don't think I could live in a city that didn't have year-round pro sports. Then we can all debate this or that about our teams, coaches and players. To me, sports is the soap opera for men. "In the souls of the people the grapes of wrath are filling and growing heavy, growing heavy for the vintage." -- John Steinbeck
December 18, 201311 yr Since 2010 the Browns won 18 of 62, Cavs won 73 of 254, and Indians won 309 of 648. It has been quite miserable.
December 18, 201311 yr Idk which is worse - having mediocre to bad teams or having teams that come so close and then lose in heartbreaking fashion. The most disgusted I have probably ever been with the Cavs was at the end of both the 2009 and 2010 seasons...... and those were the best years, record-wise, in franchise history. The one thing I do love about this town is that we aren't a fair-weather, bandwagon jumping fanbase....... well, maybe we are somewhat with the Indians ;) This Cavs team won't win a championship this year, but they are a seriously fun team to watch. I agree with Lebron that last night might have been the best game of the NBA season. Both teams scored plenty and it wasn't due to lack of defense. The execution was crisp and the shots were falling. There were something like 30 lead changes.

It's why I keep watching. "In the souls of the people the grapes of wrath are filling and growing heavy, growing heavy for the vintage." -- John Steinbeck
December 19, 201311 yr Other than Josh Gordon, the Cavs are the best thing in town to watch. Ohh come on, it's always entertaining to watch just how the Browns are going to throw away a game on Sunday. They never seem to do it the same way. It's like watching CSI or something, you know they are going to solve the crime you just don't know how. Same with the Browns, you know they are going to lose, you just don't know how yet.

December 28, 201311 yr For those of us (like me) who thought Bynum's signing was a no-lose situation, we were wrong..... Cleveland Cavaliers suspend center Andrew Bynum By Mary Schmitt Boyer, The Plain Dealer on December 28, 2013 at 11:08 AM, updated December 28, 2013 at 12:13 PM BOSTON, Mass. -- The Cavaliers have suspended center Andrew Bynum for conduct detrimental to the team and his future with the Cavs appears uncertain. The suspension was announced at 11 a.m. as the Cavs were preparing for the 1 p.m. game against the Boston Celtics. Bynum did not travel with the team to Boston on Friday night and has been excused from all team activities indefinitely. The Cavs release said his status will be updated as appropriate. December 28, 201311 yr Status quo for Cleveland sports, just a series of never-ending disappointments strung together. Next will be Gordon gets suspended or demands a trade, Iriving doesn't re-sign, Tribe creates some sort of false hope every 4-5 years while the Dolan's continue to bring in lesser talent than what they let walk. Yada yada yada...
December 28, 201311 yr Bynum is still a no-lose, especially if we can get something for him. He cost us zero flexibility. The rest of the team on the other hand...
December 29, 201311 yr This is the most disappointing Cavs season I can remember. I think they are a very distant third behind the Tribe and Browns. Way to go Dan!
December 29, 201311 yr This is the most disappointing Cavs season I can remember. I think they are a very distant third behind the Tribe and Browns. Way to go Dan! I'm as disappointed in the Cavs as anyone, but how are the Browns not at least as disappointing this year?
