Idea of trade between #Cavs and Spurs involving Haywood contract "never discussed," I was told.

  • massive team effort & big win on espn vs okc tonight — awesome game and superb coaching and substitutions — anyway, i watched most of it out, but the end back at our dystopian atlanta hotel - 😂🎉

  • Great win! Six-and-one!! Great to see Garland and Mitchell together for a full game. Those two are going to be magical as they play together more.

I'd bet Broussard 'source' is from within the Lakers organization. Nicely timed with LAL making a major push to get Aldridge, who they are indeed meeting with tonight, to commit. Cavs probably don't mind as it might help keep LMA out west.  To be clear, it wouldn't shock me at all if Love took some meetings. He's never been a free agent before. I've just been burned by bad info from Broussard 'sources' in the past to not wait for someone, anyone to confirm what they say

Twitter has the Cavs interested in signing, well, everybody! Mo Williams, Tashaun Prince, Patrick Beverly.... Only signing so far has been by Mark Miller who exercised his option.

Kevin Love is coming back to Cleveland  http://t.co/mPlwa0ii35

Kevin Love will accept a five-year, $110 million contract extension with the Cavs (per Windhorst)!

Tristan Thompson also reportedly signing an $80 million multi-year deal with Cleveland.

Looks like he posted it on The Player's Tribune, but their website is down.  Heck of a time for the website to be down!

Just started that without the brackets lol

In about two years we are gonna have some great contracts.  With where the cap is going, Love and Kyrie will be underpaid.  Spend more now, but it'll payoff later.

^ Maybe underpaid by player standards but the team will likely be massively over the cap even after it expands next year or two.

^^Some indications that Love's numbers are tied to the cap, so they could (will) rise

Interesting notation here - the Cavs luxury tax payment alone next year is going to rival, if not eclipse, the Indian's entire payroll.

So much for that planned meeting between Love and LAL which ESPN's 'sources' had 'confirmed'

Love, Irving, Thompson (Lebron) all booked through 2020.  Wow.

As far as Haywoods Contract....Suns just signed Knight and Tyson Chandler long term and want Aldridge.  Bledsoe likely out the door.  Bledsoe is a LRMR guy.  Lebron could have a lot of his clients right here in town...just sayin'

Neither does the tweet you posted from Sam "Arnico"!  Look for the check, Ken.  Someone is trolling the Miami fanbase

Best part so far of this absolutely insane first day of free agency has got to be the Lakers and Knicks fan bases and LA/NY media being relegated to sitting on the sidelines.  LMA supposedly has crossed the Lakers off his list already and declined to even meet with the Knicks, Love re-signs in CLE, and Gasol is likely back with MEM.  Have fun battling out which team convinces Greg Monroe to accept their max offer  8-)  Oh yeah.... the biggest splash Boston could make was Amir Johnson and they had to give him $12mill/year and only locked him up for 2 years. Oh how the mighty have fallen.....

I'd rather have neither, though I really wanted Norris to turn into a solid contributor for someone when he came out of CSU. Never happened.

I'm going to hold out some hope that they can still get a better backup PG when they deal Haywood's contract. I'm also assuming that Shumpert comes back as well, but especially if J.R. Smith is gone they'll need another SG/SF coming off the bench. Regardless, this roster is shaping up to be beastly. The front court alone is loaded.

Lots of phony tweets and Twitter accounts today. Someone tweeted as Mike Cairns of WEWS-5 that Dwayne Wade was in Cleveland today. 92.3 The Fan put the report on the air.... Sigh.

Given that Mike Miller elected to renew his courtside seat and assuming Christmas makes the team, I count 10 players. Bringing back Delly and Smith gets us to 12. That leaves three spots to be filled with Haywood's contract, the MLE and/or vet minimum deals

What's the word on J.R. returning?

He wants something like 3/23. Cavs might want to see what they get for Haywood before deciding whether they will meet his demands. Just my guess. It's been kinda quiet with JR

Good job by the Cavs. JR is the only loose end out of the rotation players. And They'll re-sign him or an equivalent shooter. I guess the only to do at this point is see how the rest of the league shakes out.

Hopefully we find a serviceable PG and fill out the remaining roster with some vets that can contribute in the regular season to keep every ones minutes down.

Honestly,4 for 40 for Shumpert feels like a steal compared to what some of these other guys are signing for.  Dragic, Carroll, Lopez.  Shumpert is a legitimate wing defender and when you need him to step up, he can score some points. A key piece

thats exactly what i thought when i saw that, it could be a steal. the only issue is with shump, kyrie & love is health, which remains to be seen. otherwise all is going remarkably well with fa so far.

Hearing some other names as possibilities in potential Haywood trade: DeMar DeRozan, Jarrett Jack, Jamal Crawford. I'd take any of them as they'd all be upgrades and provide bench depth at the positions they play.

^ill pass on Jack.  Was pumped when he signed here the first time, but I think he shoots too much.  We don't need a shoot first guy when we need someone to play defense and be a 6th or 7th option.

DeRozan is a pipe dream.  He is part of their core and was involved in the recruiting of DeMare Carroll.  Not sure where people are getting this info because I have seen his name tossed around a bit.  He is not going anywhere.  However, Toronto would like to dump some salary so Haywood is a natural consideration.  One guy I would be intrigued by is Terrance Ross.  Young, athletic, good potential as an outside shooter.  Basically, a younger, less mental version of JR Smith.  That said, I doubt Toronto, if they were to dump Ross, would want to do it to another EC contender.

Crawford I could see as a possible replacement for Smith.  The problem with him is that he is a volume shooter.  Always has been.  He might get disgruntled here.

I always like Jack.  I thought he played well for us and certainly had a solid year for BK last season.  Cap'n Jack!  But I'd prefer to see if we can find something better.

Honestly, at this point, I think the 'insiders' are just throwing spaghetti against the wall to see what might stick.  If we happen to trade for one of those guy, they will re-post their tweet and say "see, I told ya!"  If we don't, then they will just forget they said anything about it.

^has to be a leverage thing with TT (for the Cavs) and SAS (for West), right?  West is gonna take the MLE (significantly less than what he would get by re-signing with Indiana) for the opportunity to battle it out for the 4th big in the rotation on a team that uses its All-World SF at his position oftentimes in the 4th quarter?  I know he's said he wants to play for a championship contender, but that seems extreme. Washington, SAS, and the Clips can all make the same offer and seem like more appealing destinations for West. I'd love to have him. I just don't see it happening

Cavs are trying to get TT to crumble on some detail which is holding up the deal and West is trying to make SAS move on from trying to sign Aldridge

As crazy as it sounds, I think this is the first time SAS has ever successfully lured a big time free agent

Robinson, Duncan, Parker, Ginobili, and Leonard all drafted by the Spurs

Leonard was drafted by the Pacers.

It's pretty fun watching free agents bypass L.A. And New York.

So latest rumor is that Haywood could be traded to Brooklyn for Joe Johnson. Word is that Varejao might be involved in the deal as well.

I like it.  Johnson, at 34, is still viable; he's a combo 2/3 at 6'7", can score off the dribble and behind the arc... Love Andy, but at this point in his career, he's just too injury prone, and Achilles' tears are tough to overcome, esp when you're both big and over 30.  Plus we have enough bigs now and we can shed Andy's contract, and use Haywood's, for a player we really need.

We still need that backup point, though.

Not sure about a point guard, but with Varajeo gone the signing of West would fill that void. West would have to be VERY interested in playing for a winner to accept such a huge cut in pay.

I'm ok for that price. No scored 52 in a game this year, 4th highest of the season.  I hope delly doesn't just vanish however. I think blatt will have a ton of chess pieces to use in different situations.
