I sure wish I could get one of those Plain Dealers to keep for my kid, but I have to work all day and pick him up right after work, can't go driving around all day looking for newspapers.

Anyone have a stockpile that I could buy one off of?

I know this is sort of late but I just read on Cleveland.com that they printed 300,000 and are selling them at their distribution center this evening.

  • massive team effort & big win on espn vs okc tonight — awesome game and superb coaching and substitutions — anyway, i watched most of it out, but the end back at our dystopian atlanta hotel - 😂🎉

  • Great win! Six-and-one!! Great to see Garland and Mitchell together for a full game. Those two are going to be magical as they play together more.

I am alone with a sick and sleeping child but yeah, thank you.

Oh and when you're wrong, you're wrong...

It's over. I kind of thought this might be the year, but I guess if it happens the team that breaks the curse for this city will probably be more of a surprise team that goes on a run that no one expects. LeBron James coming back and winning one was a story that was too perfect to be possible.

This is america.. I've seen reams w less on the line have pretty bad riots on their home city... it does suck to have to commend a city for that, but considering bottle gate, jersey burnings... the last browns game at muni... 10 cent beer night

I'm glad those can be laid to rest, and when other cities riot for a championship, we'll know we are better people...

I've gotta say, if you're commending a city for not rioting, those are some pretty low expectations and standards.

^ It would then go north on East 9th probably to Lakeside..

It looks like Ontario south from Public Square, Carnegie east, East 9th north, and probably Lakeside west to the stadium?

And 800,000 people? Pens were looking at 300,000 and got 400,000 to show up. Can we beat 1 million? Let's hope so!

I haven't seen or heard this mentioned much, but I was very proud of the City for avoiding a lot of the nonsense which occurs for whatever reason when a championship is won.  I've talked to a lot of people who were downtown and it sounds as if there was nothing but love and happiness in the packed streets.

Hate to be a pessimist, but just about every city has people who use the celebrations as an excuse to trash things, and ours may be waiting for RNC.

Wow what's with the Debbie Downer?  I don't think this town had it in us....everyone was so genuinely happy that this wasn't on their minds--even in the less desirable "hoods."  I have not heard of any property destruction save for a couple couches and a police car.  I'm sure the crowds downtown added to the wait times at the bars and kept this kind of frat-boy destruction in check.

If there is destruction at the RNC, it's very likely to be imported by groups traveling here to specifically make trouble.

Not how it was meant....my point was that in a lot of other cities the destruction is fostered by people who don't care about the teams they just want an excuse.  Detroit comes to mind.  While our celebrants may have climbed on a fire truck, we didn't give it any work to do...

Even our home grown nihilists didn't use this as an excuse, because they were happy....and perhaps because they have another outlet coming up.

Hope I'm wrong, but in any case it made the city look very good.

I really hate that Cleveland.com has headline "Championship Parade Wednesday" but it has zero details.

Also - on home page link to Pluto/Tait article goes to story about 20,000 people greeting team.  Ugh, I hate you cleveland.com

They haven't decided the details themselves yet, as per the city council twitter.

I understand that, but Cleveland.com leaving that link is purely for clickbait.  Regardless, I sure hope they make the announcement soon as we are roughly 24 hours away.  Clearly the didn't have a plan ahead of time. Not that I'm complaining about not having a plan.  I get it, it had been 52 years!

Who wants to meet me at XXX at XXX o'clock?

"The parade route for the parade was announced Tuesday. It will begin at XXX and finish at the mall for the final rally. The parade is scheduled to start at XXX. The Cavaliers are the only in NBA Finals history to come back from a 3-1 deficit to win the championship."

Cleveland.com - the Cavs are the only WHAT in NBA finals history?

Moving this here from NBA General Discussion thread...

Will be interesting to watch what the Cavs do and if anyone in the East can put together a team to challenge LeBron/Kyrie.  K Love seems to be a prime trade candidate based on his awkward fit with this team, but if the team moves on from Mozgov, it's basically Love and TT down low.  With the evolving game play to smaller lineups, Love wouldn't be a horrible option at the 5 while Thompson rests, and vice versa.  Is Love ok being a 12/10 role type player while winning?  He's not featured a lot on offense because Irving and James need the lane open to operate and drive.  We'll see what they do.  Delly is a RFA, but if the team moves on from Mo they'll need a backup PG.  JR Smith has a player option, but it's below his market value most likely.

Love is an awkward fit when we play the Warriors.  He helps tremendously against virtually every other team.  Especially with TT in the middle, we need a stretch 4 to open up the lane for LBJ and Ky.  Our halfcourt offense depends on it, not to mention the boost he gives us in transition with his defensive rebounding and ability to outlet the ball to get the break started.  I don't know who these fans who want Love gone expect to land as a replacement.  Give me some names.  And he is not a 12/10 guy.  More like 17/10, slightly better than Horace Grant type numbers, and no one is going to come in and put up much better numbers with our two superstars being the primary scorers.  I do think that he should think about adding some muscle.  I also want him working non-stop on his mid-range game.  His 15-20 foot shot should be automatic.  LeBron too.  At this point in his career, that mid-range shot needs to be money.

JR will not exercise his player option and rightfully so.  I still hope and expect that he will be back.

I'd really like to see us trade into the first round of this draft.  The talent pool is uncharacteristically deep.

I'm also wondering if Cedi Osman has changed his mind about waiting until at least 2017 to come over from the Euro leagues.

Maybe we can trade Love and Smith for KD and Westbrook?  Get 'er done, Griff

KD is a free agent. I was thinking more like trade Love to Boston for some picks, and sign KD.

If I were the Cavaliers, I'd throw an offer sheet in front of Harrison Barnes.

Love in the regular season is 16 and 10 with the Cavs, he's a 14 and 8 player in the playoffs, and he put up 7 and 6 in the Finals.

They obviously need to figure out their 4/5 situation around Thompson, and whether or not Delly will stay as the backup PG.  JR should probably turn down that option, so we'll see if he can work out a deal to stay.  Other than that...how much does Dan Gilbert want to pay in luxury taxes again?

the trashing the city problems come immediately after the win, not during the parade, don't they? wait, why am i asking you? or anyone here? none of us know anything about what happens after a victory parade like this, it's a new world lol.

i expect these will be clevelanders happily celebrating, i am much more worried about the place getting trashed and the city and state getting some black eye in its rep for it's response to incidents at the rnc. those problems will 100% be by imported protesters and hooligans. i keep reading about how various coups are being worked up to boot trumpy out, that would cause a lot of ruckus for sure and unfortunately possibly much worse.

I don't think it's going to be 100% imported people but they'd still be the vast majority, and the parade will likely be messy but not damaging much like an open containers era St. Patrick's Day parade.

Getting rid of Rump wouldn't be likely to cause damaging problems, just a lot of posturing by his followers.  It's the antis who'd want to trash things.

Good point. The crowds downtown for the RNC will be vastly different, and in all likelihood overwhelmingly from out-of-town. We're talking about potential black eye that locals will have little responsibility for.

I was looking at some of the riots that have occurred in other cities after championships, and compared to those I am at least a little surprised that our celebrations were so incredibly tame. With such a large crowd, you'd think that the number of idiots would have been at least a little larger.

Where are you two finding the cap room to sign these guys?

Somebody's getting ready for a parade!

no, its the opposite. trump has long promised trouble. actually the anti's, whatever that is and turns out to be, would fizzle if the rnc boots trump. it's trump everyone protests, both inside and outside the party. all could equally want to cause cle problems. it's a serious worry and i hope they have well planned for it.

i know, but i would guess everybody, even the rowdy types, were in a total state of shock after the last minutes of that game!

The cap goes up this year right? Plus if you can trade Love to Boston that frees up money and also adds rookie contracts instead of more expensive vets.

Yes, the cap went up.  But we are still over the cap.  Even if we trade Love without somehow taking back equal salary, we would be right at the cap or just slightly under it.  Teams will need to be $20 mill under the cap to sign Durant.  Plus, the NBA does not allow lopsided salary trades.  The players exchanged have to be within a certain percentage of each other salary-wise.  There are some maneuvers that could possibly be made, but it's such a longshot it's not even worth discussing.  We won't be in the mix for Durant, bottom line.

They're not trading Love for picks.  The team is firmly in "win now" mode with LeBron probably having 3 more seasons at his current level, and maybe 3-4 more beyond that if he can develop a Karl Malone-esque post game instead of having to rely so much on his outside shot.

Moving Love out for guys who aren't ready to compete for a title makes no sense.  The only way I see them trading Love is ... spit balling, if it's for Carmelo or some sort of package involving Eric Bledsoe.

How many people were estimated to be downtown Sunday night?

100,000

I just saw the list of road closings. Take RTA people. You're not getting in anywhere near downtown by car.

Yep, we're taking the 6:40 AM bus from the Strongsville PnR.

where is the list of road closings?

Really? Why? I was hoping I could park next to the Q on Ontario.

Royals had 800k for their baseball parade. NE Ohio has about 1 million more people and a network nationally that probably is larger than KC. We could be looking at a million

I think one million may be a conservative estimate. First championship in two generations. Much like LeBron, the majority of the Cleveland sports fan base is coming home! Can't wait.

I don't know if this has already been addressed anywhere, but how can the Cleveland area transit system possibly handle a million people coming in at one time? Say even half that, assuming the rest drive--which obviously probably isn't be feasible either. (I think 1.5 million commuters come into Manhattan every day which overwhelms the most extensive transit network in the country)

I'm in Cleve Hts.  I have access to private parking in Ohio City.  Was considering taking shoreway over there.  Am I being naive?  Do you think that will be completely locked up?

Well I was being slightly hyperbolic. However here's what we received from the city today

 Huron Road at West Superior Avenue (local access only).

 Ontario Street at Prospect Avenue, southbound.

This is Cleveland planning, something will be botched.  Part of me is understanding, there r a lot of people working their ass off to plan the convention, and a week ago at this point it looked like there would be no parade, it's almost kind of shocking.  The Rapids/buses will be capacity, I assume most workers that have designated parking will try for that (at least I will). Also I bet there will be a lot of parking and walking in OC, tremont, asiatown. Hell, biking may be the brilliant idea

Yeah I thought about biking but going with friends and my brother and his kids - none of which would bike down.

We have friends from Chicago that are driving in with their kids tonight for the parade.
