  • massive team effort & big win on espn vs okc tonight — awesome game and superb coaching and substitutions — anyway, i watched most of it out, but the end back at our dystopian atlanta hotel - 😂🎉

  • Great win! Six-and-one!! Great to see Garland and Mitchell together for a full game. Those two are going to be magical as they play together more.

^well, that makes the Pistons a fifth seed at best.

so if i'm reading this correctly, the bulls win the division? pacers?

If the Cavs don't take it, then its gotta be the Bulls. Without Wallace, Detroit is a lot weaker (according to the media).

Actually, I think that the media is making too much of the Bulls acquisition of Wallace. Sure I think that the Bulls will be better and that the Pistons will be worse, but no way are the Bulls a championship contender as many sportswriters seemed to suggest this offseason.

The clash of the Titans in the Eastern Conf will be the Cavs & the Heat... book it!!  The Pistons are declining; Ben Wallace left more than just cash.  There's dissention in that locker room and there's a faction that doesn't trust Flip Saunders (esp his non-rotation w/ Antoino McDeyess) the way the did Larry...

Seriously, Pope, it's more than simply trash talk to say the Cavs very well may be one of the 2 last teams playing in the NBA next season.

LeBron James Amazed At 21-Year-Old's Ability To Stay Up All Night Studying For Physics Exam

September 14, 2006 | Onion Sports

CLEVELAND—21-year-old LeBron James, who skipped college to make millions of dollars in the National Basketball Association, was amazed to find out that someone his very own age, Case Western Reserve University junior Michael Washington, had the ability to stay up all night studying for a physics exam, which he later aced. "This kid's natural study skills are unbelievable," said James, who learned later that Washington is the youngest person in his family to attend college. "What he can do in the academic arena at his age is something that I could only dream of." James was equally impressed with Washington's ability to live in his 12-foot-by-19-foot dorm room, saying that he couldn't even imagine living like that at this point in his life.

I'm surprised there's not more of a buzz around here... isn't anyone excited for the tip off of the NBA season?!  I sure am!

I haven't seen anyone picking the Cavs to win it all (Phoenix & Dallas seem to have that wrapped up already), but there have been a few experts picking the Cavs to win the conference.  With Miami's abysmal opening last night, anything looks possible in the East!  I don't know if I could live with another season end with the Bull's knocking us out of the playoffs...

Ah, but that is a looong way off.  First things first, the Wizards go down tonight!!!

I'm excited.  However, I think most folks are being cautious.  In the last three seasons the CAVS have played very well, now the expectations have raised, the CAVS are back to being a "winning" franchise with a positive outlook....I pray we don't choke.

I still don't think the Cavs are hungry enough or have the "killer/finish your opponent off " mentality you need to wind the conference....let alone win a championship.  It just feels like we are one player short of winning it all.

With that being said, just like last year, I expect the CAVS to be in contention the entire season and make it into the second round of the playoff with a slight chance to make the conference finals.

discuss....

In addition....Now that the cavs are back in business, I think businesses in the Gateway area (sorry, the Q, just sound so damn corny to me) will report increase patronage and sales and downtown will have more afterhours life.

More than $7 million spent to upgrade arena

Cavaliers owner Dan Gilbert has what he calls the 360-degree rule in Quicken Loans Arena.  "If I was transported here from another country or planet and I did a 360-degree turn, I want to know that I'm in Cleveland and this is the Cleveland Cavaliers' arena and this is the Quicken Loans Arena," Gilbert said.  "This is not an office. It's a fun, exciting venue. We need everybody to feel proud and feel they're in the right place and it's our building."

In an effort to create that feeling, Gilbert spent $7.45 million on arena improvements, including a new court and lots of new signage on the elevators and throughout the concourses and the Key Bank Court Club.  Courtside seating has been reconfigured, and 200 seats have been added.  The four swords on the scoreboard will shoot fireworks, and there's a new light shudder system that will allow the arena to instantly go dark or light.

Yep, Quaker Sam - Salem's mascot. Like I said - there's a reason I fled the place!

....and that reason is? Enquiring minds want to know :?

I'm all for supporting the Cavs, but this is a bit odd..

I thinks its HOT!  Youthful!  Energetic!  and shows that the Cleveland fans ARE NOT fuddy duddy rustbelt cornballs!

And that we apparently have ticket prices that are so high to preclude the purchase of t-shirts for  wear to the game!

Hey, big win last night...totally stoked about Hughes big game and the consistent play of Lebron & Drew Gooden.  Big Z disappointed, as did the number of turnovers and missed free throws, but hey, we won, didn't we?

slushee machines in the front office? now thats a championship move. why do we need this michigan dot com nonsense?

screw the q, gil bear should have spent the seven mil on some talent at pg. snow, wesly & jones at pg do not equal a championship. and thats given z's glass feet stay healthy and hughes plays a full season for a change. bah!

Z hasn't had a glass foot in four years. He's actually been pretty healthy. His production at times is another matter. I agree with ya about Hughes...with a healthy and PRODUCTIVE Hughes they make it to the Eastern Conference Finals last year. I liked Gooden's performance against the Wiz....they had no answer for his offensive rebounding. This ought to be a fun season. If this team runs on all cylinders they are as good as anyone. Problem is they rarely ever do.

geez, can't you even agree with my joke?

anywho, back to the cavs.....

Funny...I remember thinking throughout the game on Wednesday that the Wiz were crashing the boards pretty hard themselves.  Eton Thomas, in particular, was kicking butt down low.  However, I look at the box score and - sure enough - we demolished them on the glass!  50 - 33 in favor of the wine n' gold!  So, I was going to debate Amrapin's above comments, but I see I was mistaken!  And consider that those rebounding numbers included only 5 boards from big Z and 4 from big V.  We had 19 rebounds from Hughes and Lebron!

I won't miss Flip Murray nearly as much if Hughes continues to play like he did on Wednesday...

On to San Antonio!

I just bought tickets to the Pistons game on Dec 21. I was looking for some of the cheaper seats, but was a bit confused when I saw what was available. Turns out that some games have been dubbed "premium" and the tickets are much higher. I bought three normally $25 seats for $120.

Yeah, i got confused by that, it appears there at three packages for that or did I read that wrong?

When Gooden is being a bonehead (which will happen several times this season), everyone notices. But when he has a good day (and he'll have several this season) he's usually a major player in getting the Cavs a W. He was grabbing 2 offensive rebounds/a possession late in the game, which stopped the momentum of the Wiz late in the fourth. Eton played a helluva game too.

sorry to be a little random, but I have seen a couple of the Cavs games so far this year...and LeBron looks absolutely amazing!!!  He is REALLY coming into his own!

Whoda thunk that 3 weeks into the season that Phoenix and Detroit would be ranked 22 and 23 (respectively) in nba.com's power rankings?  I can't figure it out, but neither team is playing very well at all.  The Cavs, while I don't think they've played their best ball yet, are kicking ass.  At 6-2, they're tops in the East.  It's nice to see the bench playing so well and giving the big boys some time off.  Woo hoo!

is hughes ok? i heard he got hurt again last night.

i watched the fast forward rerun of the game (the knicks in 60 on yes network) the other day and it was hilarious fun. of course they only show all the great knicks shots, even in the end when the cavs were leading. ha haaa.

Does he even qualify for health insurance with the Cavs?  I mean, he's only working part-time!

Part-Time?   I see him more as a "seasonal" worker!

Cavs are on a tear!  5 straight and 8 of 10.  Despite our division being the best in the East (not saying much), we're still 1.5 games ahead of Detroit after they lost to the Bobcats (what?) last night.  And to top it all off, we're healthy and have started a 6 game road trip with a big win in Sacramento!  I can't say the rest of the trip will end that well (in Phoenix tonight), but our whole West Coast swing last year ended up 1-5, so we'll at least tie that mark!

Go Cavs!

... and the BCats beat the Pistons in the Palace, no less.  Go figure.  The Bulls also went down to the Wiz last night, so a win over Phoenix would be HUUUGE, tonight-- we could put some distance btw our foes.  But I won't be pissed if we lose.  With Amare Stoudamire back and playing as he did pre-2005 injury, along w/ Nash, Barbosa, Marion, Bell, Diaw and the boys, the Suns are an NBA elite on the short list to win the whole damn thing.  We can beat them but I just want us to show our recent poise and ball distribution.  I also want to see Drew continue to develop consistency.  I'd really like to see Brown play Gibson more at point although, despite his O shortcomings, I still like the hustle and D E.Snow gives us.  I'd really like to see Brown get Sasha in there more -- this kid is SO gifted, but I think he's losing his confidence riding the pines under Brown... And people love to ride Z, but Z has really been coming up consistent lately, esp now we've decided to pass him the ball sometimes...

... all in all, I can't wait for tonight!

Ouch..that was ugly last night

The Cavs ended up going 7-4 on their worst part of the schedule (4-0 in that 4 games in 7 day stretch, and 3-4 on the west coast swing). They still managed to hang on to the #1 seed, although the Wiz are tied with them now. Let's hope with the worst part of the season behind them they can start stretching their lead in the Central. :)

My other NBA comment, isn't it time to fold the Atlantic division?

^Just replace the Atlantic division with the ACC and see what happens.

well new jersey reeled off an "impressive" four wins in a row to be the divisions first team at .500

and they've promptly lost richard jefferson to surgery... they're still probably the best team in the division, though!

If you win your division at <.500, your playoff spot should be given away as an extra wildcard.

There was a stretch, until the wheels came off in Milwaukee, where all 5 Central Division teams had a better record than all 5 Atlantic teams. And somehow a team that wins 40-43 games in the Atlantic is going to get a #3 seed, while a team in the Central or Southeast is gonna win the same amount of games and get stuck with a #6 or #7. I like X's idea...you win half or less and still win the division you forefit the #3.
