If Kyrie can justify the Earth being flat, he can justify another reason why the only ring he won was with LeBron.

  • massive team effort & big win on espn vs okc tonight — awesome game and superb coaching and substitutions — anyway, i watched most of it out, but the end back at our dystopian atlanta hotel - 😂🎉

  • Great win! Six-and-one!! Great to see Garland and Mitchell together for a full game. Those two are going to be magical as they play together more.

Liked a lot of what I saw from Sexton yesterday. It’s gonna take him a season or two to figure out finishing around NBA length/athleticism. But I thought his passing was better than advertised, and he’s lightning quick. Also seems to play within himself. Of course it was just one game but it was promising.

Cedi looked like a man among boys and had a great game (except for missing basically every shot he took). He’s an absolute terror on defense.

And Preston definitely seems like he’s worth the two way gamble the Cavs just took. Great size and athleticism and showed great flashes on defense and offense. Still extremely raw though.

It’s so nice to just watch and talk basketball after 4 years of endless anxiety! Nobody cares about the Cavs anymore and it feels great!

I agree Sexton looked pretty good. I think he can be in the top 20 guards in the league by the end of the year.  Sexton was able to tip the ball a lot in passing lanes to create turnovers too.  I totally missed seeing Preston play. Hopefully they will allow him to play with the first team more tonight against the Bulls.  Pretty much what i expected for a first game. Hopefully see some assists tonight from Sexton.

^ i saw that — i was extremely pleased with the sexton draft grab. unlike the browns, they did good.

boy it didnt take bron long to go full hollywood. i saw he’s in italy hanging out on a yacht with jimmy iovine and brice marsden. lol good luck with that.

but seriously, hopefully this long retirement aimed mode will result in his making a bigger pile of money, coming back to the cavs to sign for a day and retire a cavalier, then buying the cavs someday. we’ll see.

Really glad for the K Love signing. I'm actually more excited for the Cavs now than I was last season. Sure we're going to lose the bandwagon fans and the glitterati, but bring on the underdogs! Lets see if these guys can win us some games.

Isaiah Thomas apologizes after making fun of Cleveland in social media post

Denver Nuggets guard Isaiah Thomas apologized Saturday night for a video posted on social media in which he called the city of Cleveland "a s---h---."

In the video, Thomas talks about the various cities in which he has played, then makes his comment about Cleveland, adding, "I can see why LeBron left -- again."

Thomas later posted an apology on Twitter, and then posted an additional video on Instagram saying, "Cleveland wasn't that bad."

the browns get whipped by steelers and now this — not the best past weekend for cle sports

During the game against Indiana they were playing uninspired, and were pretty unwatchable in the 2nd quarter.  It seemed as though they didn't care too much if they won.  After that game I began to think they were planning on tanking the season for top pics in the next draft (which wouldn't be the first time this happened with Gilbert).  Looks like that may not have been the plan, which points directly to coaching.  I don't know if after 6 games this was the right move, but if this was the direction under Lue that the team was heading, he was bound to be fired.

Sucks since he's a championship coach, and helped bring in the parade which is part of Cleveland sports history, and the city's history itself.  Something we all will never forget.

Wow, 12 games into the season and the narrative is already becoming that we are “fighting for those Duke freshmen”.  I didn’t think we were going back to 2010 when LeBron left for a second time- and many  were even more optimistic than I was, characterizing the Cavs as a possible lower seed playoff team. Now, the K-Love signing looks like just another in a series of bad Cavs decisions as his incredibly early absence has forced the limited Cavs into 2010 mode. Durability is essential for a franchise player and you  couldn’t  have picked worse with the fragile Love. And though Sexton had some success against a weak Bulls team, the supposed new star looks every bit the overwhelmed rookie. And to those in the media who criticized LeBron, especially one very fat and slow pundit at WTAM,  (“only one ring in 4 more tries here” and “he doesn’t make the players around him better”) their idiocy is evident. The biggest problem is that where 2010 led to 2014, this time there   won’t be another return of the King to save the Cavs four years from now.  We could well be looking at years of Cleveland basketball futility because there’s no evidence that this ownership or management has any clue.  The only right move they made lately was ending the tenure of Mr Lue and giving Mr Drew an opportunity.  He may  get some real effort out of this odds and ends collection. I applaud the city’s support so far but I hope there’s someone sitting in the beautiful newer reimagined   Q next season.

I was all set to get behind the team this year. The org and players have all but made that impossible. They've ruined basketball for me.

We weren't anything this year. We should be tanking. Sixers, Celtics have shown us the blueprint. Tank and acquire picks.

And sign Kevin Love? This team makes no sense. They don't even tank the right way.

Part of tanking is acquiring picks from other teams. You can't do that without assets to trade. And signing your own guys is the only way the Cavs will have something worth trading.

I still think Zizic should be playing more than just garbage minutes. He played great with Osman during the Summer league. That was a fast paced offense free for all. He brought the defense and dominated the boards and also got some easy baskets underneath. I’d like to see a grouping of Zizic, Tristan, Osman, JR, and Hill or Sexton.  Let Nance, Korver, Hood, Clarkson come in as backups.

With the injuries, they are going to get maybe 20 wins this year.  They can still dominate the boards against many teams in NBA when they want.  They also have the shooters from 3.  Its awfully crowded at the shooting guard position. I can see them trading out someone from that position. If they are able to get the Zion truck from Duke they should be good to go.

So why fire Lue then?

So Lue wasn't on the same page as the owner and gm. And we had to go ten games into the season to find this out?

This is organizational disarray, plain and simple.

It is...Dan needs to hire a basketball guy and let him run the organization. He was on the right track with Chauncey Billups.

Does anyone know why Zizic isn't playing at all the last few games. There is a couple of guys on two-way contracts that play more than he does.

now that overpaid bum thompson is going on vacation for a month with an alleged foot injury.

love not back until mid january at the earliest.

Very stoked to see some admiration from our enemies.

^Who the heck approved those?  Look at some of the other teams.  The Cavs got some pretty bad jerseys out of this.

It's back! I'm talking about the chemistry between Delly and Tristan. This season is a rough one for Cavs fans. But the Battle Without LeBron is a small moment of satisfaction. When Love comes back the Cavs are going to win their share of games.

So should we take from last night's game that the Cavs Without Lebron are better than the Lakers Without Lebron??

Considering Lakers WITH LeBron had to squeak out a W vs. CLE, I'd say that's a fair assessment.

Been trying to catch up with taped Cavs games this Saturday, afraid with Love's return may kick them out of bottom 3 lottery slot. I hear best fit on PD is Barrett but Zion would bring excitement to the Q, fill seats and may I say possibly become better recruiter than Lebron (I don't feel many liked playing with Lebron for being a circus show of hype over shadowing other teammates on teams he has played for) . If you have a chance to get Zion, get him but will be very disappointed if they don't get either.. No guarantee's more so than ever with new lottery rules this year.

  • 2 weeks later...

i wonder if the cavs play themselves out of the bottom three better lotto picks with love back? i think they are only a win or so away from the bulls, so it could happen.

another win against a halfway decent team.

best to be in the top bottom three of course, but really the 4-5 pick chances are not as markedly different from the top three as i had thought — per wiki:

Beginning with the 2019 draft, the NBA will change the lottery odds as follows:

1. 140 combinations, 14.0% chance of receiving the No. 1 pick

2. 140 combinations, 14.0% chance

3. 140 combinations, 14.0% chance

4. 125 combinations, 12.5% chance

5. 105 combinations, 10.5% chance

6. 90 combinations, 9.0% chance

7. 75 combinations, 7.5% chance

8. 60 combinations, 6.0% chance

9. 45 combinations, 4.5% chance

10. 30 combinations, 3.0% chance

But it still matters where you slot after the lottery picks are chosen. 3rd worst can’t slip past 7th pick, 4th can slide to 8th, etc.

thats true, then it falls to each team's record i think.

Meanwhile.....

Yes, only first 4 picks are done via lottery (changed from first 3 last year).

oh yeah i just saw they added a 4th pick, so that should keep the cavs in the lotto hunt should they surpass chicago, which they very well could.
