The Heat can dump Bosh's contract any time they want to pick up Carmelo -- if they thought they could sign Carmelo. They haven't which tells me they can't.

  • massive team effort & big win on espn vs okc tonight — awesome game and superb coaching and substitutions — anyway, i watched most of it out, but the end back at our dystopian atlanta hotel - 😂🎉

  • Great win! Six-and-one!! Great to see Garland and Mitchell together for a full game. Those two are going to be magical as they play together more.

Sheridan was one of the few that called Lebron going to Miami.  Most analysts had him going to Chicago or NJ.  Lets hope he's right again!

Bosh opted out of his contract.  He is no longer under contract with the Heat.  However, Miami still holds his "Bird Rights" (that clause of the CBA that allows his own team to offer him one more year and larger yearly increases in a max contract).  Miami would simply need to renounce any rights it holds on Bosh in order to sign Melo

Sorry, that's what I meant to say -- renouncing their rights.

NJ?  If he's going to NJ, that would be a brand new franchise and a surprise to us all!

^He's referring to 2010, James not goin to NJ

Sheridan’s Top 25 Free Agents: July 7 Edition

If Maverick Carter is indeed in favor of him coming back, that's interesting.  He was the main voice advocating Miami four years ago.  Savannah was against it, but then she was "baby's momma somewhat on the outs".  Now she's Mrs. James.

As a Cincinnatian, I am hopeful for you Cavs fans that LBJ comes back.  Seems like a legit possibility right now--and really, wouldn't you rather play with Kyrie/Wiggins/etc. than Wade/Bosh/etc.?  Bosh is still good but regressing, and Wade looks D-O-N-E based on the playoffs.

Good luck--and even if LeBron doesn't end up in Cleveland, the future with that roster (and positioning for cap space) looks bright...

That's awesome Bosco!  I love it!

^^jdm, if he does come back, dont expect wiggins to be on the roster.  I highly doubt he would agree to come here with current roster...i think another star would come here and it would probably cost wiggins

I don't. The other star often discussed is Kevin Love who will be a free agent in a year. So his trade value will rapidly decline with time. Thus, I think we can trade players and some or all of our three #1 picks. Those #1 picks, which I believe at least one of them is a guaranteed lottery pick (top-10), gives the Cavs a lot of options. There's no need for Wiggins to be one of them.

i see your point but i disagree.  Love came back recently and said he would sign a long-term if Lebron was here...the only way we could do that is through sign and trade.  Minnesota made it clear around draftime that they loved Wiggins.  I suspect they would want him.  Thats what makes this so genius for the cavs.  They took THE ideal trading piece (Wiggins), so if Lebron wanted to come back, we would have Wiggins to trade for a proven star...if Lebron would not return, we would have the best player in the draft with the most potential.  I just dont see Minnesota agreeing to anything unless they get a surefire future in return.  who knows what next years picks would yield.

Plus Thompson is not getting traded. He has Lebrons agent...in fact im sure Thompson will eventually get overpaid as a thank you to Rich Paul for getting Lebron back (if he comes back).  Varejao is also not getting traded.  I think that leaves Waiters, Wiggins, Zeller, Dellavadova and picks to trade...

Our stockpile of #1 picks are more valuable than players, but we also have to dump salary. Jarrett Jack is the most likely candidate, IMHO. He makes $6 million, much more than any of the players you mentioned.

BTW, after Dan Gilbert's plane landed in Fort Lauderdale last weekend, someone got photographic proof that he was on the plane because he was soon spotted outside Lebron's home in Miami....

Take with a grain of salt: DJ Stephfloss (a dj from Cleveland who is friends with LeBron) just posted this on his instagram:

If I'm not mistaken, those are Cavs colors and "The Banquet" plays nicely into the Cavaliers and "King" imagery.  LeBron had a meeting with Nike earlier today.

There's also a rumor going around today that Nike made a bunch of billboard buys in Northeast Ohio today.

Also, there's to be a "welcome home" party at LeBron's place in Bath. Though, admittedly  that might not mean welcome "home" to the Cavs.

Lebron is in Vegas doing his yearly Skills Academy and will be there up until he leaves for the World Cup final.

That said, things are looking good.

I saw my first "return of the king" Grafitti from the shoreway this afternoon on top of one of the buildings by Stonebridge on the West Bank.

There's also a rumor going around today that Nike made a bunch of billboard buys in Northeast Ohio today.

Marc Stein at ESPN said Nike billboard rumor is a Twitter tale only.

And, if Lebron stays put, the Cavs' backup plan is to go after Trevor Ariza according to Woj -- a pretty steep dropoff from LBJ.

EDIT: one more before I go to the mattresses.....

^hahaha.

I do think that LeBron has a level of normalcy living here that  he wouldn't find anywhere else in the country. His kids can go to a public or regular parochial school, not some secured private school. He can move about town in Akron with out being completely mobbed. I am not sure what that means to him, but I think it means a lot to his wife. The way he talks he wants his boys to have the stable childhood he never had,

It's starting.....

Probasketballdraft ‏@Probballdraft  2m

First step in LeBron return to Cavs has occurred. Cavs trade Jack, Karasev, & Zeller to create space. @ESPNSteinLine first to report.

Keith Britton ‏@KeithBritton86  2m

It's gettin real RT @ESPNSteinLine: Boston is 3rd team in deal will acquire Zeller from Cleveland as well as future 1st-rounder and Thornton

Probasketballdraft ‏@Probballdraft  3m

Cavs just shed $9.5 from their cap. Cavs now have over $21M in space to pursue LeBron.

Ira Winderman ‏@IraHeatBeat  4m

Hard to believe Cavs would go that far without insight from LeBron. It is the type of deal that can flip the playing field.

Alex Kennedy ‏@AlexKennedyNBA  2m

For those saying LeBron didn't make the Cavs dump players, @WojYahooNBA reported that Rich Paul told the Cavs to create room for a max deal.

He's not returning!  :whip:

At this point, if he stays in Miami (which I still think he will), he's as big of an a-hole as last time for drawing this out and letting the hype get as big as it has.

^^This is what denial looks like folks :)

He's coming home.

He's coming home.

If Bosh goes to Houston, Melo goes to Miami!  LBJ stays in Coconut Grove!

^Explain the math in signing Bron AND Melo.  Ain't happening!!!!!!!!!!!!

And then explain who is going to play inside for them

Consider this....

Jason Lloyd ‏@JasonLloydABJ  4m

Put another way, the #Cavs have traded 3 first round picks (Zeller, Karasev & future 1st) this morning.

....For the Cavs to do this without assurances from Lebron that he would return is a huge, huge risk.

"In the souls of the people the grapes of wrath are filling and growing heavy, growing heavy for the vintage." -- John Steinbeck

This is all too similar to 2010 and since that didn't end well I'm uneasy about this year, tac on that Pat Riley will be the last person in his ear before the day is over, raises my nerves even more. Looking at it positively the Cavs are 80/20 favorites according to Chris Broussard. I will not though I WILL NOT like if they trade Andrew Wiggins to grab K Love, that will be the biggest mistake and that's the name I keep hearing.

Love is a top-10 player. I'd hate to lose Wiggins, but Love is better......

Probasketballdraft ‏@Probballdraft  3m

Cavs have been in pursuit of Ray Allen. Vet minimum is the number I am hearing per a source.

Probasketballdraft ‏@Probballdraft  8m

Cavs still have the assets to go hard after Kevin Love & made that known in their meeting w/ Rich Paul last week.

How I want to feel but can't yet....

True, but I would see if I could trade Waiters and some other pieces with a 1st round pick(s) to get Love I would try to hold on to Wiggins as much as possible.

I have no math or explanation!  Unlike Jesus, Lebron will not be returning to Cleveland.  Perhaps his family is returning to NE Ohio, but he is not returning as a Cavs player!  HUMPH!

Just like the RNC wasn't going to pick Cleveland, right?

Taking a break from LeBron news, I'm excited about Bennett showing up in fighting form for the Summer League. I'm with Hts, I think the best is yet to come with this kid.

Rumor that Cavs have offered a trade for Love, and it includes Wiggins....

Wiggins OR AB, I'm fine.  Wiggins AND AB, I'm not sure I would be on board with that.

Jesus it's getting crazy. Broussard reporting we are going after Ray Allen and Mike Miller.  Rizzo reporting we have a deal in place for Love.  We better not give up any significant assets for Love unless he extends.

Rizzo now saying deal is "in place" for Kevin Love.  Remember, he is the one who reported about the medical reports on Embiid nearly a week before anyone else caught up.

^and Kyrie's max offer/signing

Eh.... Russo clarified, saying deal is "on the table" not "in place"

There is no way they trade away Wiggins for Love unless they have some sort of verbal from LeBron or his agent. If they don't have it, they might be the dumbest sports franchise in history. That's no hyperbole. They might be...

But Love averages 26/12. Can we  be sure Wiggins can ever approach that?
