^It seems relevant to the topic, seeing as how Lebron was clearly making a point with the multiple NE Ohio references.

The Land has been one of the nicknames for Cleveland since the mid-90s at least, specifically within the Black Community and within Hip-Hop culture. That along with C-Town, which more people may be fa

  • massive team effort & big win on espn vs okc tonight — awesome game and superb coaching and substitutions — anyway, i watched most of it out, but the end back at our dystopian atlanta hotel - 😂🎉

  • Great win! Six-and-one!! Great to see Garland and Mitchell together for a full game. Those two are going to be magical as they play together more.

Not to get off topic but I have never said I was from Northeast Ohio in my life.  And if I am outside of Ohio I certainly don't say I am from Cleveland Heights as if would not mean much to most people unless you were originally from the area.  I simply say I am from Cleveland.

I say Cleveland or NE Ohio.  If they know Cleveland and ask me to be specific, I say I grew up in Shaker and live in the Shaker Sq. area of Cleveland.

I think Northeast Ohio is just his way of acknowledging Cleveland and Akron.  He's not from Cleveland, after all.  His basketball loyalty is obviously to Cleveland, but his personal loyalty is to Akron.

naah u guys are making waaay to much of that. he mentioned cleveland clearly too. he is from akron after all and knows he let down the whole region fanbase, it was the right way to say it.

all this hype is quite amazingly unprecidented -- i think the internets have damn near exploded!

The reason for the delay - he was waiting for my birthday ;)

MTS - look out your office window in about a 1/2 hour.  I've hired one of those propeller planes with the I TOLD YOU SO banners dragging in the back :P

^ That letter was about everything I could have asked for except for a call out to Z.

On a side note, I thoroughly enjoyed listening to Dustin Fox's celebration on 92.3, he may not always be the best broadcaster but damn he is truly one of us as fan.

Goldhammer actually had to take a few deep breaths while reading the letter.  He was all choked up.

I have no math or explanation!  Unlike Jesus, Lebron will not be returning to Cleveland.  Perhaps his family is returning to NE Ohio, but he is not returning as a Cavs player!  HUMPH!

Just like the RNC wasn't going to pick Cleveland, right?

Exactly!  Keep predicting the other way, you're on fire

I'm going to requote this every day for the next week.

With this news (plus the RNC announcement) I'm guessing Frank's approval numbers have gone up quite a few points this week.

"My presence can make a difference in Miami, but I think it can mean more where I’m from. I want kids in Northeast Ohio, like the hundreds of Akron third-graders I sponsor through my foundation, to realize that there’s no better place to grow up. Maybe some of them will come home after college and start a family or open a business. That would make me smile."

That comment makes me smile...

Yahoo reports that Gilbert met face to face with Maverick and Rich and Lebron last week in Miami.  ASsumption i wrote above that they had met in private is confirmed.  Why on earth would Gilbert not fix that??  The media doesnt know as much as they think they do...they spend their lives trying to get facts, but there is certain intel that cant be touched... However, if you look at Gilbert as a businessman, you cant possibly believe that he would think he had a good shot at landing lebron without fixing that

That letter needs to the be the first post in an "I LOVE NORTHEAST OHIO" thread

That spoke volumes.  The biggest take away is HOME.  Home is where the heart is and on a personal level I understand that.  My job is based in NYC.  I own a house in NYC.    I will never ever become a NY resident and my current home and address is xxxxx Shaker Blvd.  I will always be a proud Clevelander and I guess he had similar feelings.

ETA:  Think of how many people - there are several this board - that have left Greater Cleveland, only to appreciate all that Cleveland offers.

speaking of prodigal sons, its already time for them to give mts another one of his 'rests.' ;)

Funniest thing I've read today:

R.I.P Miami Heat fanbase: 2010-2014.

As I have friends in South Florida, I sincerely hope all the bandwagon jumpers do not cause a tsunami.

Now Cedar Point and Michael Symon will have to honor their LeBron request.

What roller coaster will cedar point change?

What burger will LBJ create for BSpot?

What will be the ripple affect his return will have on businesses in East 4th, Tower City/Casino, the WHD & both sides of the flats?

There is a huge ripple effect.  We're talking AT LEAST 5,000 more fans at each game.  That's a minimum of 200,000 more visitors to downtown during some of the hardest months for those downtown businesses.  Also, the fans will come from all over.  This considerably (re)expands the fan base.  People will be coming in from WVa, Erie, C-Bus, etc. who would not make the trip absent the opportunity to see LBJ play.

I remember what downtown was like in 07/08/09, those areas were just getting off the ground and restaurants and bars would be packed.  Downtown had "playoff" or "big special event" type of feel every night.

Now with more development and residents, the energy should be greater.

oh and happy bday hts121 - could u have had a better one? lol

My guess would be the Raptor or Mantis. The Iron Dragon would be an insult.

I love who the Cavs put the ticket package/renewal link front and center on the homepage!  Make that money Dan!

My guess would be the Raptor or Mantis. The Iron Dragon would be an insult.

Mean Streak would be my guess. Help boost ridership and get visitors to the back of the park. The other rides would require change of paint colors IMO.

On the Spanish stations its like the world cup.  I almost feel sorry for S. Florida residents, knowing how Greater Clevelanders took The Decision.  But, hell, let them suffer on the beach will getting skin cancer!

Wow... and wow!!...

also, Vegas has Cavs winning the championship at 3-1... Miami?  100-1... Hahahahahaha!

LeBron James, Dan Gilbert, Rich Paul and Maverick Carter met for 4 hours in Miami last week and talked through it all, Gilbert tells Yahoo.

Asked Cavs coach David Blatt if he's thrilled for chance to coach James. "That would be understatement of the millennium," he tells Yahoo.

Cavs have reached out to the agents of Ray Allen & Mike Miller. Deals could come together quickly as both want to play alongside LeBron.

Ray Allen is willing to play for the veteran minimum in Cleveland, according to sources. #Cavs

Agent Rich Paul called Dan Gilbert moments before announcement: "Dan, congratulations. LeBron is coming home."

LeBron's friends and family cried when they read the first drafts of his essay. Wasn't about Cavs or Heat, was about home, home fans.

Lebron James: most famous boomerang. Ever.

Now we move on to the wait for Kevin Love.  I was somewhat concerned LeBron was going to hold off his announcement to pressure the Cavs to pull the trigger on a deal for Love.  It is no secret that the sticking point is Andrew Wiggins.  Minny wants him in the deal.  Cavs don't want to include him.  By LeBron committing, Minny just lost a TON of leverage.  Props to Griffin for being patient.  Now the ball is in Minny's court.  The longer they wait, the more the offers for Love will start to decrease.  Now, if Love pulls a Melo and basically says he will only sign long-term in Cleveland (crazy, right?), he really forces Minny's hand to pull the trigger and get what they can.

Supposedly, the offer on the table right now is AB, Dion, and a future 1st.  I don't think they are going to do much better than that, and if they don't act quickly and AB starts ripping up the summer league, even that offer might be pulled off the table.

My guess would be the Raptor or Mantis. The Iron Dragon would be an insult.

Hey, that's not nice. I LIKE the Iron Dragon.

And besides...Dragons have feelings!

"Billboard" ha ha. Imagine the man hours it took to construct!

^They must have planned those 6 mouse clicks months in advance to pull it off.

In 2010, there was a ton of pre-announcement hype as to the forum, it was delivered in a cocky manner, and he departed for a party where he was the center of attention.

In 2014, there was no hype (misdirection, yes) as to the forum, it was delivered in a straightforward manner, and he’s departing for a party where he’s nowhere near the center of attention.

He’s either grown up a lot, or he’s getting good advice he will hopefully continue to heed.

I put a deposit yesterday on partial season tickets - it was $100 per seat.  Today it's $500 per seat and I get to pick my seats ahead of everyone buying seats today.  Good bet by me!  ha.

Besties!

I think I am going to buy some Nike's and drink a Sprite

Now remember folks.  We don't want the Heat to be THAT bad next year.  There is still a tab to be cleared for 2010, specifically their first round pick, which is top 10 protected.  A 35 win season sounds about right  :)

ESPN sources say Mike Miller is indeed exploring every option to try to reunite with LeBron James in Cleveland after halting talks w/ Denver

Disagree! We want them to be ultra-horrible forever! (Unprotected 2017)
