March 2, 201510 yr ^I've been confused by Blatt's rotations all year. Perkins not playing was questionable. Mozgov's 18 minutes was head scratching. And Dellavedova playing more minutes than Kevin Love was baffling. I understand Irving is out and maybe Delly is our only other true PG, but goodnight that guy just isn't an NBA caliber player on offense. He played over 41 minutes yesterday and scored 3 points. What is the value there? Lebron was taking the ball up the court on most possessions anyway! Blatt's love of Delly and seeming unwillingness to play more than 7 a night (meaningful minutes) with such a deep roster is very confusing.
March 2, 201510 yr Maybe Delly has dirty pictures of Blatt? That's an astonishing stat -- 41 minutes and 3 points. Wow.... "In the souls of the people the grapes of wrath are filling and growing heavy, growing heavy for the vintage." -- John Steinbeck
March 2, 201510 yr yep the whole thing with delly's minutes was just flabergasting yesterday. i couldn't believe it. we can compete, but its quite clear we need the big 3 healthy and clicking to beat these top tier teams.
March 2, 201510 yr ^Not really. We could've easily beat Houston in Houston yesterday if we just made the FTs we were supposed to make. We need all three to run those teams off the court. It also depends on the matchup. Teams with big-bullying defenders inside, we absolutely need Love or else they clog the paint. But in other matchups, he might not be as vital.
March 2, 201510 yr Agree with hts, LeBron missed about 3-5 late lay ups as well. Delly takes so much heat because he's not a great shooter. He doesn't really get in the way of the team though. He has a high basketball IQ, plays tough D and for the most part takes care of ball. He's the scapegoat tho
March 2, 201510 yr well, yeah ok. except we lost the game. thankfully kyrie is supposed to be back tuesday for the celtics game: http://fantasynews.cbssports.com/fantasybasketball/update/25086303/blatt-kyrie-irving-will-play-for-cavaliers-on-tuesday
March 2, 201510 yr Cavs with Kyre > Rockets with Howard. Long long way to go. But after that game I'm really loving the idea that these two could possibly meet again in the finals. I'm yawning just thinking about the Spurs making another run.
March 3, 201510 yr Gotta love how the league confirms that the kick was indeed a "Flagrant 2" foul and Harden should have been ejected, and instead he ends up get suspending for their game against the Hawks. Where the Cavs could definitely use a Rockets win.
March 3, 201510 yr Numerous reports suggest that Baron Davis is attempting an NBA comeback and is in discussion with the Cavaliers and the Clippers. I'll take that.
March 3, 201510 yr Numerous reports suggest that Baron Davis is attempting an NBA comeback and is in discussion with the Cavaliers and the Clippers. I'll take that. Wow. Bet Blatt still plays Delly as Kyrie's backup. "In the souls of the people the grapes of wrath are filling and growing heavy, growing heavy for the vintage." -- John Steinbeck
March 3, 201510 yr Not sure what BD has left in the tank. Loved him when he was here for that brief sting the year after LeBron left. He filled a major leadership void on that squad and led us to a relatively strong finish. Who is reporting this? I heard he was interested in coming back and interest from us would be natural. But I believe I follow about every credible local and national NBA beat reporter and haven't seen a peep about BD talking to Cavs
March 3, 201510 yr ^None other than the International Man of Mystery, the original BeardMan himself-Baron Davis of course. And oh yeah TMZ sports... But others have picked it up Bleacher,PBT,HH. You never know...sounds doable, bring him in see what he's got

March 3, 201510 yr The guy had a weight problem when he was actively playing. After being retired a few years, I have my doubts.
March 5, 201510 yr Big win tonight! Toronto made the fourth-quarter comeback in their own building, and Cavs responded with a run of their own against a hostile crowd and a good team, albeit without Lowry. Cavs now .004% behind the Raptors and Bulls for the second seed. "In the souls of the people the grapes of wrath are filling and growing heavy, growing heavy for the vintage." -- John Steinbeck
March 5, 201510 yr Geez. Seeing some of these goof media ppl On Twitter, u would think the cavs just got blown out. The big argument is "you can't give up 112". My response is just win the damn game, especiAly on the road. They don't have a defense problem, toronto was hitting insane shots in the second half. Everything was falling. There r too many paranoid PPl around here waiting for the house to collapse. It's no way to live, just enjoy the success. If anything- I feel better about them tonight knowing the have the ability to blow a big lead in a hostile environment and still come out on top
March 5, 201510 yr Good to see the Cavs 'discovering' James Jones. This guy is the Cavs version of Dr. Smooth. High BB IQ, never panics, can get his shot off in traffic. Works great with LBJ. Goods heads up player. He has more game than I remember.
March 5, 201510 yr The bad news is teams are figuring out that LeBron can be manhandled out of his game, something that was very much not true earlier in his career. While that can be dealt with and the Cavaliers have the personnel to handle it, it's not something that happens much in the international game and therefore it's not instinctive for Blatt to make it happen. They are not going to win the title unless they start retaliating, preferably disproportionately, for hard fouls on any of the Big 3, especially LeBron.

He isn't as good as Ray Allen. But he's a good shooter. He's been in big games. And he can knock down big shots without panicking. I don't think the refs in this day and age would tolerate it. This isn't the 1970s and 80s anymore. However, I would like to see Perkins brought in after such dust-ups as if to say, "OK, if that's how you want to play, then let's play." In the end, the Cavs won vs Toronto and, had Kyrie played, I have no doubts we would have beat Houston in Houston. So the goon-squad-tactics weren't terribly effective against us. If you just looked at Michael Jordan the wrong way, you were whistled for a foul. And he never got called for charging and was allowed to take four steps. This is why I always say that while Jordan was a more dominant player, LeBron is a better player. He has to play (more or less) by the same rules as everyone else.
March 6, 201510 yr Eh. That's a bold statement. Don't forget that the defensive rules have changed as far as hand checking is concerned. MJ might've averaged 40ppg if the rules were as favorable to players getting to the hole as they are today
March 7, 201510 yr Rough showing last night. Cavs will be successful when they listen to the coaches, play defense and share the ball. Interior D was awful last night, lesser talent just driving to the basket all night long. This team gets easily frustrated at times especially on the road.
March 8, 201510 yr ^ yep especially in the second half. its the perfect time for a break and a rare practice day monday, which they need. also, i was wondering why haywood gets no court time even in games like these? he's gotta be a rust bucket by now. maybe he can show the coach a thing or two in monday's practice so we can see him in action someday.
March 8, 201510 yr He's referring to the Atlanta game. Which, BTW, Atlanta must've expended every ounce of energy beating us because they went into Philly and lost 92-84. Granted, they sat three starters. But Atlanta sat three starters the last time they played the 76ers and won by 18. March 9, 201510 yr ^Cavs definitely need an enforcer to protect LeBron otherwise this crap's just going to get work, esp in the playoffs. Dion Waiters was that guy, but of course he's gone now. The only other 2 are (probably) Mozgov -- maybe because he's so big and, stereotypically, I'm probably attributing some of that cold, harsh Russian mentality too him (and it may not be true; Z was born in the old Soviet Union -- Lithuania -- but, of course, is a sweetheart of a guy), and of course, Perk... Problem is, this stuff is often/usually happening in 4th quarters when both these guys are on Blatt's bench (Mozgov why all the time, is beyond me) and, of course, the punishment for leaving benches during fights is very steep -- at least a suspension and heavy fine. I do believe, therefore, in some quiet, but stiff, retaliation. There are ways to get the message across: mess with The King and you'll have hell to pay... In the playoffs, that may not manifest until the next game... but it WILL happen.

In the playoffs, that may not manifest until the next game... but it WILL happen. Because of the way an F-1 foul gets downgraded if the other team immediately retaliates, it kind of needs to be a little later in the game. For example, after Harden's kick, they should have put Perkins in, and the next time JH attempts to drive the lane..... I'm not sure where Mozgov got the reputation as an enforcer, but Perkins has it. Sort of like Ben Wallace in '08. Ironically, they had that guy to protect LeBron when he didn't need it as much.
March 9, 201510 yr And they called Shaq the Witness Protection Program after he came here. "In the souls of the people the grapes of wrath are filling and growing heavy, growing heavy for the vintage." -- John Steinbeck
March 9, 201510 yr And they called Shaq the Witness Protection Program after he came here. True, and indeed Wallace was traded for him. Though you really can't have one superstar protect another. It sort of defeats the purpose.
March 9, 201510 yr Big Z was certainly a nice guy, but he took no crap on the court and was the first to jump to LeBron's defense when fouled hard. I always laughingly imagined Z's trash talk during such flare-ups on the court went something like "You no know ghetto, silly American..... I from the eastern block"
March 11, 201510 yr Looks like it was good times on the plane ride following the whoopin' those boys handed out in Big D last night....
March 11, 201510 yr Nice pic! And it should be. Among all the great wins so far this season, last night's 127-94 blowout in Big D was one of the best. It was like watching the Harlem Globetrotters vs Springfield High School faculty & staff! Getting some rest and some practice time to clean up a few things did some wonders. When this team fires on all cylinders, it is a championship team. Cavs players have to realize what this team can do when it plays a certain way -- sharing the ball, limiting shots to fewer than 30 per player, protecting the paint and attaching yourself to the hip of opponents on perimeter defense. They have to know that no one can stop them when they play like that. "In the souls of the people the grapes of wrath are filling and growing heavy, growing heavy for the vintage." -- John Steinbeck
March 13, 201510 yr Wow. I left the bar to walk home when they were down at end of regulation. Turned on the TV at home to see Kyrie tie it at the buzzer. Then they pull out the win...one of the best regular season games I've seen.
March 13, 201510 yr Great game! Kyrie was sick! Cavs were down by six with 38 seconds left in the game. I don't know why I kept watching but am so glad I did. "In the souls of the people the grapes of wrath are filling and growing heavy, growing heavy for the vintage." -- John Steinbeck
March 13, 201510 yr Been covering NBA for 30 years; #Spurs-#Cavs is Top 5 regular season game I've seen; didn't cover but saw DET 186, DEN 184 -- still my No. 1 -Mike Monroe, San Antonio Media
March 13, 201510 yr Apparently this game was a big deal in San Antonio -- lots of local hype and anticipation all day long. Not sure why because both teams are in different conferences and the Cavs aren't going to catch Atlanta for the #1 seed. Probably because San Antonio was making its usual March-April run after putting around most of the earlier part of the season. And it was a national TV game. And some considered this as a possible NBA Finals preview. And of course San Antonio fans hate LeBron. So apparently there was a lot of anticipation in the crowd which gave it a playoff atmosphere. The players were playing physical and, despite the defense both teams can play, this was an offensive showcase outside of the third period.
