  • massive team effort & big win on espn vs okc tonight — awesome game and superb coaching and substitutions — anyway, i watched most of it out, but the end back at our dystopian atlanta hotel - 😂🎉

  • Great win! Six-and-one!! Great to see Garland and Mitchell together for a full game. Those two are going to be magical as they play together more.

Can we have Joakim let her hair down, and pretend?

Pow! ooooouch!!!  Good one!!

This Cavs/Bulls series has been really fun to watch - as a Cavs fan, I hope they wrap it up tonight but the skeptic in me says there's no way the NBA allows the series to finish short of 7 games.  It's been the most highly watched series so far of the playoffs, by far.  There's been plenty of questionable calls & non calls too.  Coach Blatt calling a Time Out that he didn't have the other night would have lost that game.  The ref looked right at him & didn't blow the whistle

^I don't know.  If you want to be a conspiracy theorist, the NBA without question would want the Cavs to advance.  Whether to cheer him on or hope that he loses, LeBron draws the TV audience.  Ensuring the Cavs advance would be prioritized over ensuring a Game 7.

That said, I don't buy into that crap at all.  There is simply no way in H-E-double hockey sticks the league could keep a lid on such tactics and, if it was exposed, it would seriously tarnish the brand.

My "conspiracy theorist friend" says this:

Finals    ::    CLE vs GSW

Which means    ::    LeBron vs Curry

Which means    ::    Akron vs Akron

That might be a good TV draw

Personally, I feel we will get past CHI but that will be it for 2015. Just as was predicted in the beginning of the season: playoffs, but no finals

^I respect your opinion Musky, nobody knows for sure...but if we get by Chicago, im pretty sure the cavs will be in the finals.  Neither Atlanta or Washington have the experience, the pedigree, nor the guns to win a 7 games series.  The Bulls have more than both of them, having a former MVP in Rose, Finals champion Gasol and a culture of a franchise that has been there multiple times.  The hawks are another Danny Ferry 60+ win team.  These guys are already squeezing under pressure in the first two series.  Hardly look dominant, nor have any of them been there before.  Washington has Pierce, which is a ton...but I don't think they would have the guns with Wall being hurt.

I think it will be Cavs vs Clippers.  But im still afraid of these Bulls we are playing.

I just don't want to get disappointed. I don't the city to go on some sort of watch if it all falls apart. (and I'm the one most people call overly-optimistic - LOL)

Akron native vs Akron native would be pretty cool though

It's really not that outlandish.  NBA is about 1/2 step away from becoming WWF in my opinion, the refs are there as added entertainment, but basically watching same as the fans.  You remember the story of Tim Donaghy, right?

http://www.chicagonow.com/chicago-sports-guru/2011/06/tim-donaghy-details-how-nba-officials-league-allegedly-fix-games-exclusive-interview-part-3/

Tim Donaghy was an NBA referee for 13 years before resigning in 2007 after a gambling scandal rocked the league. After being released from serving a prison sentence Tim has become an outspoken critic of

the NBA and the way it enforces the official rule book for referees.  Tim contends that NBA referees have been conditioned to referee "personalities" rather than the game itself. His outspoken views have put him in direct conflict with the NBA and its board of directors.  Tim is a strong advocate for enforcing the NBA rules as written in the NBA official rule book.

Additionally, Tim argues that subtle pressure is applied to referees to "extend" certain high profile series for the purpose of financial gain to the NBA by attracting a larger audience

^Not the best 'source'

The refs are a far cry from being "there as added entertainment, but basically watching same as the fans."  NBA refs are same as refs in any other sports league.  Tough job which requires a lot more skill than people normally assume.  The Replay Center also adds some legitimacy IMO

8 more wins folks

This was probably the biggest team win I've seen tonight. It was pretty awesome to watch.

Aaaahhh what a relief.  We don't have to look at Joakim Noah's hideous mug for the next couple months.

God is he ugly

One more time...

DELLY TREY!!!!

... I apologize for all the nasty things I've ever said about this kid.  To show on a stage this big, he's got a pair as big as, ... well, basketballs!

Tristan Thompson has emerged as a bona fide star.  JR and Shump showed up huge and, of course, LeBron was the maestro directing it all despite not shooting well tonight.

This whole series pivoted on that highly improbably Game 4 win ... and THE SHOT... this time, it's OUR SHOT, and by a king no less... THE KING!

We now get a welcome week off to heal and get ready for the next challenge...  Truly this year, the championship is there for us; it really is..

talk about gutting out a big game - wow! so glad they will get a long rest. hopefully kyrie came play again, we'll see next week.

i loved this pre-game quote:

F Mike Dunleavy Jr. when asked at the shootaround about the Bulls' pulse: "We got a good pulse. We're alive, eating well."

so at least they had that going for them. no heart and not much else. haha.

I was not expecting that at all. I was hoping that the Cavs would pull out another grinder of game and was pleasantly surprised by a beat down.

Delly eats lightning and craps thunder

What a great win last nite- after the first half I was expecting the Bulls to bounce back and for it to end up being a close game (going to the Cavs, of course)- but HOLY SH!T- I wasn't expecting a blow-out!  Great game, great defense played by everyone on the court.  And Delly- during most of the regular season I have to admit I didn't see him as being as good as he is.  Sure he would hit the Delly-Tray when needed, but I didn't see him as an offensive player.  Great on defense, but not so much on offense.  I think he proved me and all of the other unbelievers wrong yesterday- I'm glad he came through and showed what he's made of last nite!  True team ball, and it felt great to watch!  And ohhh... it stings, doesn't it Chicago?

And just to add, I LOVE their new owner (at least to Wikipedia last night)...

^That keeps getting edited.  Last night it showed the owner as "Matthew Dellavedova"

It was a great win to come home to from Ireland! Sorry I missed Tuesday's game. But I woke up at 3 a.m. in Dublin to check the score (and visit John) and was happy to see we won that game. I recorded it and will watch this evening or maybe on Sunday morning.

Its a shame Noah wont get behind a microphone when they lose.  He sure as hell loves to run his mouth when he thinks they are going to win.  He gets let off the hook too easily.  Im pretty shocked that he won that community service award.  Not that I don't believe he does good things, but come on man, just be an all around good guy.

Bulls fans online are trying to claim that they only lost because the league wanted LeBron in the finals.

Us older Cavaliers fans can appreciate the irony of that.....

Yep. It's not like Jordan ever got any calls....

Dear Chicago: it's real simple. You couldn't hit your shots. You couldn't get rebounds. And you couldn't stop Delly!

My friend from Portland was saying the same thing.  I didn't see the refs getting too involved in this series.  The bulls had plenty of opportunities in game 4 to put the series away...refs had nothing to do with JR Smiths cold blooded shots or Lebron game winner.  IN fact, if anything, they tried to give game 4 to the bulls with some of those bad late calls.

the other three wins were blowouts. hard to blame the refs.

Great article on Shump.

Though I think I may be throwing my hat in the ring to be an editor at Business Insider.

Iman Shumpert — the player the Cavaliers got from the Knicks for practically nothing — has caught fire in the playoffs

Business Insider By Scott Davis

The Cleveland Cavaliers' midseason trade with the New York Knicks was lopsided from the beginning.

The Cavs received J.R. Smith and Iman Shumpert while giving away just a 2019 second-round pick. For practically nothing they got a player in Shumpert that they desperately needed — a solid wing defenders capable of guarding three positions and a decent shooter who doesn't need the ball.

Shumpert's basic regular season numbers weren't impressive — eight points, three rebound, two assists, one steal per game to go with 41% shooting, 33% from three-point range. However, a deeper dive shows Shumpert's impact on the Cavs

I think it will be Cavs vs Clippers.  But im still afraid of these Bulls we are playing.

Way to jinx the Clippers!! Any other predictions haha.

p.s. My bro pointed out that the Clippers/Rockets are the ex-San Diego Series...both franchises started - and left SD.

We will see. Clippers screwed up twice against the Spurs and came back with season saving wins...they can win that game. I'd rather play them or Memphis.

^^I don't think I knew that the Rockets started in San Diego.  I knew the Clippers did.  It is one of those situations where the name of the team did not change upon relocation and it doesn't make sense now..... Lakers (originally Minneapolis), Jazz (originally NOLA), Grizzlies (originally Vancouver).  On that note, I never would have imagined the Rockets was not a name selected specifically for Houston given that City being the site for so many space shuttle launches.  It would seem to fit like a glove, like the Heat, Pistons, 76ers, Pacers, Celtics, Suns, Magic, Timberwolves, Nuggets, Trail Blazers, Spurs, Mavericks, Pelicans, Thunder.

The Cavaliers, it seems, is one of the few names which appear to have been chosen more randomly without any local connection.  Other apparently random selections (which I can think of) would likely be Wizards, Raptors, Nets, Hawks, and Warriors

That article is not really accurate.  It was a three way trade with Dion going to OKC...... so we traded Dion, Amundson, Kirk and a 2nd for Shump, JR and an OKC 1st (which we then flipped along with another 1st for Timo).  All that aside, it is true the Knicks got essentially nothing in what was essentially a salary dump for a franchise looking for more spending power this summer or next.

^ Agree, misleading title. I wonder what's going on with Business Insider...

I love the Cavaliers/CAVS nickname. Not so sure about those Blue jerseys however.

Every team my brother has ever supported has relocated. Rockets, Clippers, Seals (NHL team became Cleveland Barons). Chargers are probably next.

From J  R Smith instagram.

i was hoping for washington, but it will be atlanta. this will be a tough series because they are the epitome of a teamwork team. i think everyone is 15ppg. we will need a healthy kyrie for sure.

The Clippers didn't start in San Diego.  Buffalo Braves.

True, but the name started iwhen the franchise moved to SD..... due to the heavy Navy presence there (at least that is what I always presumed)

From Wikipedia, for what it's worth:

1978–1984: San Diego Clippers

In 1978, San Diego welcomed the relocation of the Buffalo Braves franchise because the city had lost their Rockets to Houston seven years earlier. San Diego team officials did not think Braves was a representative nickname for the club. A contest decided on Clippers because the city was known for the great sailing ships that passed through San Diego Bay.

Poor Clippers....what a complete meltdown!

Okay, I think the Cavs are going to beat ATL in seven, and then face the dreaded Rockets in the Finals.

I'm predicting the Cavs loss the series in a Sweep.  The may win one game.  I expected the Cavs to make it the Conference finals this year.  After three years of mediocrity this is a great thing for the franchise, the city and Metro area.

This is also good for the NBA as Cleveland - the city and franchise - are the underdog "Cinderalla" team of the league.  The better Cleveland does the better the league looks.

Certainly the Cavs cannot let the Hawks retain their homefield advantage. They must win one of the first two games in Atlanta.

Here's when and where the games will be played:

BTW, I think that starting Shumpert in place of the injured Kevin Love could be a wash. I think both are good rebounders. Love is a better scorer although Shumpert can stretch the floor with the 3 and bang inside too. And Shumpert is a better defender than Love.

The assumption is LBJ plays his usual minutes and doesn't turn the ball over. The key is if Kyrie plays meaningful minutes and contributes at least 15-20 points a game. Hopefully more.

ill never judge a prediction because nobody knows whats going to happen and im certainly not an expert.  But hard to imagine a Lebron team gets swept...and although the Spurs beat him 4-1 last year in the finals.  The hawks have never been here before.  that being said, if its reverse psychology...great prediction.

BTW, I think that starting Shumpert in place of the injured Kevin Love could be a wash. I think both are good rebounders. Love is a better scorer although Shumpert can stretch the floor with the 3 and bang inside too. And Shumpert is a better defender than Love.

Starting Shump in place of Love?  Is TT not going to start against Atlanta?  Shump was starting at SG, in place of JR.  I think they keep it that way given Kyrie's injuries.  Shump is going to have to check Teague/Schroeder with Kyrie chasing Korver around the perimeter I would think.

I don't think Love being out against Atlanta is as damaging as him being out vs. Chicago.  None of the Atlanta's big men scare me from an interior defense standpoint..... meaning, we don't need to spread them out as much as we did Chicago.  Milsap, Horford, and Antic are all better on O than they are on D and none are great shot blockers.  Actually, I thought Milsap kinda had his way with Love during the regular season matchups so it will be interesting to see if TT can keep him in check.  Timo could be more  of an x-factor because he has a significant height advantage against the Hawks' starters.

LeBron should have an easier time once he gets inside because the Hawks are less physical.  Carrol is a good wing defender, but Sefalosha is out hurt from that incident at the NYC club so they don't have two people to throw at LeBron the way they did during the regular season.

I'm predicting Cavs in 6.  At some point, they will break the Hawks and coast through the rest of the series.  I'm still undecided as to whom I would rather face in the Finals, Rockets or Warriors.  Both of those teams would be very tough matchups, for very different reasons.

its going to be vs the warriors.

i'll optimistically predict an epic fire and brimstone religious laying of the hands type healing event over the team by cleveland clinic wizardry, jesus and the ayatollah and go with the cavs in 6.

Replacing Love's production with Shump's. I don't get into the whole position-v-position thing. I want to see whose production is going to replace KLove's. And that's Shump. TT's production can't replace Love's. He'll get more rebounds and play better defense than Love. But we lose all of Love's offensive production with TT. So when I look at Love's lost production and who's going to replace it, I see Shump. And by starting Shump at JR's forward position, who replaces JR's shooting production? No one. Not if Shump is replacing KLove's outside shooting, rebounding and playing defense where Love cannot. I look at all of this as a balance sheet where all assets are concerned.

And yes, I agree the Cavs match up pretty well against the Hawks, especially if we can continue to defend the outside shot well. The Hawks are going to have to try to get Mosgov in foul trouble if they want to defeat us, or if they just get sick with the outside shot like Orlando did against the Cavs in the 2009 conference finals.
