  • massive team effort & big win on espn vs okc tonight — awesome game and superb coaching and substitutions — anyway, i watched most of it out, but the end back at our dystopian atlanta hotel - 😂🎉

  • Great win! Six-and-one!! Great to see Garland and Mitchell together for a full game. Those two are going to be magical as they play together more.

It works: Malls A-C; who wants names attached to these public spaces.  Too much controversy today anyway with the ''naming''.  Selling naming rights would generate $$ but who wants more corporate names for these magnificent public spaces?

actually, i believe two of the malls do have names, veterans memorial plaza and strawbridge plaza.

i believe the city beautiful movement group plan aesthetic was always to keep them generically named and for the people.

I'm fully expecting an epic photo thread from one of you photogs

Get on one of the trains heading east

Well that didn't work!  The trains were empty but wouldn't stop.  That said, I basically hit the jackpot.  I had just gotten to the corner when a bus stopped at the light waved us on.  It was an express bus and had just enough room for us and didn't make any more stops.  Took us almost to CSU transit center.  Could not have gotten luckier.

Ugh, won't be me. I'll have a few pics to contribute, but I was mostly in one spot in a crowd so most of my pics have 30 people's arms with cell phones in front of me.  But I'm sure someone will have some amazing ones.  Sherman Cahal[/member] ??  You end of shooting on top of the garage?

^ Same here. I have some good shots of JR, but only the tip of lebron's cap. After 2 hours, I ended up calling it after LeBron went past. Still, I had a great time watching the parade. MGK tried to climb a traffic light and forgot his float was still moving, and nearly fell off.

My only criticism (that was controllable) is that I would have liked all the players to be on flatbeds, vs some in convertibles, etc. Hard to see with the aforementioned arms and cell phones in front of us 20 ppl deep.

LBJ sat down as he was going past me and was saying something to his wife, so I definitely didn't get any good ones of him. Agreed on wishing the players weren't in convertibles.  They all should have been in one truck, which is how I think parades usually go.  The very last truck looked like it would have been setup for all of the players to be on it.  But I'm guessing some players wanted to be with their families.

I haven't edited mine yet but I gambled on the Q garage being a little less overwhelmed. Someone mentioned to me that there would be "guards" on top of the garage so I wouldn't be able to park up there and camp. Well - that didn't happen and a few resourceful folks camped up there and partied all the next day! I still was able to snap a few from up there and on the ground.

There was one garage next to the Q who were absolute dicks about anyone being in the garage. I can't remember the private operator, but I think they gave up at the very end when they seemingly got flooded all at once with people desperate for a view.

After LBJ passed the crowd cleared just enough for me to get to the front and I got some fantastic pics. Will post later

Probably a policy based on an overly aggressive interpretation of insurance requirements promulgated by someone who would have nothing to do with the actual enforcement of same....

Probably. I think they were saying (as we were being booted out) that they had it up to here (putting their hand up to their neck) with people leaning over the edge, peeing in the garage, and, well, the usual.

Did you see the garage on E 9th with people straddling between gaps in the garage facade?

My favorite shots so far came from Jarboe atop the Rotunda.

We were on E. 9th between Sumner and Carnegie.

You could get a good shot of LeBron on the ground but he was not doing much and kind of ignoring the crowd.

I thought Delly was going to die with the amount of people swarming his car. I felt bad for KLove who was just ahead of Delly...he was kind of an afterthought.

Tristan almost was flung off a perch because he was facing south and didn't see the championship banner hung over the light poles on E. 9th.

The flatbeds had a hell of a time getting around the turn from Carnegie to E 9th with the amount of people in the streets.

If you ever noticed parades of the past (even presidential motorcades), crowds were once much closer to the stars and heads of state. This parade wasn't that much different, with barricades pretty much non-existent. The path down East 9th, for instance, was barely wide enough for the procession to fit through! Amazing to see but it must have been a nightmare for security.

I was directly across the street from the Erie St. Cemetery archway.

Judging by the photos from the rest of the parade, Lebron was basically taking a break when he came through that stretch. It felt odd experiencing it though. I'm sure it's tough to be on all the time on such a long slow route on a hot day, and for some not having a lot of parade experience. Lots of people were forgetting that there were a whole bunch of people behind them on the other side of the street.

Our section was pretty excited to see Love, but he had some urgent social media stuff to attend to apparently.

I recall seeing that banner start to bounce out of control. Maybe that's what was going on at the time.

We were on the same side as you, next to Progressive. Amazing how many people amassed on the opposite side of E. 9th as opposed to the stadium side.

As time got closer to the parade start people starting walking down E 9th and their stories about the giant crowds up by Lakeside made us glad we chose to be down by Carnegie.

I loved the sight of people sitting on the Erie St. archway. Very cool.

^i think offensively he looked awful, but defensively you can't understate his importance, he comes in and guards a splash brother. Neither of those guys went off that entire series except Klay in game 5 first half

True, and I think he was brought on board almost specifically for top-tier perimeter defense, quite possibly with the Splash Bros. specifically in mind.

Shump was supposed to start when we acquired him.  Only reason JR was inserted into the starting lineup was because Shump was hurt when they arrived.  Shump was going to be our 'perimeter defender' who would be assigned to the best perimeter player on the other team, given that he can guard 1, 2, and 3.  JR was not considered a defensive player, but he has certainly elevated his game on that end of the floor.

Pretty awesome day for Cleveland. We ended up just watching the traffic on Google maps and decided to take the shoreway to Nautica at 8AM. Worked like a charm. We ended up at the start of the parade across from the Q underneath the banner on the casino garage. Kyrie actually was running up and down the barricades high fiving everyone during the intial 30 minute delay to get started and then chugging champagne on his truck. He started out in a black T with the Nike KI logos on it but switched it out  because it was drenched even before he turned onto Ontario. Didn't really get a good shot of LeBron there were too many people in front of me for me to see him striking the poster pose as he went by it.

I was back in Lakewood by 1:30 and watched the rest on TV. I loved the rally. Fred MacLeod did a great job as MC. All the players were funny and/or heartfelt. I know LBJ dropped a few too many swear words but it was the most authentic we've seen him. There were a few awkward moments, Gilbert/LBJ exchanges are always awkward, as is Frank Jackson, but Budish was downright painful to watch.

I think it’s more that Lue figured out that something I’ve suspected for awhile turns out to be true, if you can badger and harass those two and especially if you play them physical they tire out late in the game and they’re more like the Clank Crew.  This does not bode well for their future success if the rest of the league figures this out.

I've heard a couple of people with that analysis. Work both of them hard with good defense and attacking at them on them offense so their legs are tired in the second half. Last thing you want to do is let Curry skate through the first half and have fresh legs in the 3rd. He'll put up 15 pts in 45 secs and then your in a deep hole.

I do feel Lue's switching scheme in the first 2 games although it was fundamentally sound caused too much confusion, and ultimately one of those games.

Look for GSW to continue to win between 60-70 games per year because winning a single game is so much different than winning a 7 game series, and it's obviously easier. There isn't enough time In a Single game to completely adjust to the Warriors because by the time you do, you are already down 30 points. That being said, the regular season doesn't really matter, lebron knows that. Now Cleveland does too

Some really cool coverage of the

Cavs win and parade in other city newspapers.  I've been reading Chicago Trubune and Detroit Free Press.  Interesting also is Free Press talking about the Health line BRT

Oh yeah I forgot to comment about my RTA experience. We tried to park at Van Aken shopping center and that was obviously a no go so we found a spot at the Avalon station. After waiting there for a while we decided to try the next stop and catch a ride. Did that a couple times and then ended up just walking. We decided to just walking to Cleveland. When we got to the station at Woodhill my friends weren't having it so we tried to get on there and that's when we were able to get on. I had a great time though all in all and everyone we saw on the way was extremely kind.

Well, the Cavs enterd draft night without a pick, but bought a late 2nd rounder to pick up this explosive little guy, Kay Felder from Oakland (Mich). He is in the mold of Nate Robinson and Isaiah Thomas (the current version). We will see if he has similar success overcoming his 5'9 height

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=58dbD_p1XKo

Being a Cleveland State fan, I am familiar with him.  The guy can score.  probably means Delly wont be picked up, however.

Slow down there, Tiger. He is a roll of the dice in the late second round. No guarantee he makes the team, let alone makes it into the rotation.

I think the writing is on the wall...Mo is under contract and got all the minutes in the second part of that finals series.  Dellys 1 mill contract is up, some team will definitely offer him a few mill per year.  Griffin made it clear with the varejao trade that fan favorites, etc arent staying on the team just because they are fan favorites...and I don't see the cavs dishing out multi mill to a guy who will be a third string PG.  They will have this guy on the cheap at the end of the bench...sure he has to earn it, but how could we not assume that's the line of thinking.  Otherwise we wouldn't heard from the cavs at all last night

Don't forget Delly had a great year, much improved over last. I'd honestly be very surprised he won't resign here. Channing Frye was glued to the bench in the Finals too and I don't think he's going anywhere either.

Cavs have so much versatility right now.

http://www.sbnation.com/2016/5/26/11781600/cavaliers-lineup-lebron-james-channing-frye-breakdown-backup

Delly is a coach and player favorite even more than he is a fan favorite.  You heard what LeBron said about him.  Recall that his play from this past year relegated Mo Williams, who had a 50 point game the season before and was in the starting lineup when Ky was injured at the beginning of the season, to the end of the bench and out of the rotation.  He went cold in the playoffs, but still had a very good season overall.  There were many games in which he played the crunch time minutes in close games, showing what the coaching staff thought of him.

I see Kay Felder as a good gamble.  If he was 3 inches taller, he might have been a first round pick.  The Cavs certainly paid a premium ($2.4 mill) to acquire him, but that was also the going price for a second rounder last night.  I still expect him to spend at least one year in Canton, even if Delly does leave.

Don't forget about D-League rookie of the year Quinn Cook, who is a point guard that probably would've made our 15 man roster last year if we had not signed Mo.

I'm also still holding out hope that we can get a glimpse of Cedi Osman, the Turkish wing player we drafted last year, sometime soon.  But it is most likely he stays in Europe at least one more year, which is OK since he is so young.

I have a new favorite shot of the parade.  This is the front of the parade starting to knife through the crowd at Lakeside/9th

Really cool... This is the 2nd time in as many months that LeBron and/or the team has been spotted at Alley Cat.  They either really think it's a cool spot, have a relationship with Zach Bruell, or both.

Happy for Timo, but man, how bad are things for the lakers. THATS your big FA? In that town? In front of those celebrities? Geesh

Nicholas Batum just got $120 mill. I hope all those dissenters can now see why I was saying giving TT $82 mill last summer was a good business move.

^all of the big name FAs declined to meet with LAL. Times have changed.

Yeah I was always on board w doing whatever we had to in order to keep Tristan. It's not my money, I don't care. He's such an important piece to the puzzle

Timofey Mozgov, Lakers reach agreement on 4-year, $64M deal

If this is an indication of where pay levels are going in the new salary cap era, then wow, just wow.  Even the announcers on the video are shocked.

The Lakers better hope he gets into better mental and physical shape or that is truly money wasted. I'm guessing Sasha will get more playing time as the backup true center.

Are you saying we've got at least one token Russian/Euro big man?? ;)

Mozzie was the major factor in turning around our moribund club mid-season in 2014-15.  He fought hard the year before last and was the 2nd leading scorer behind LeBron with our depleted lineup against Golden State... This year he fell off the table, but even his brief appearance in that pivotal Game 3 in this year's finals helped us win and, ultimately, propel the Cavs to the championship.  Timo is an incredibly gifted player if only he could realize his gifts: for his size, he's incredibly quick and agile; and he's got an outside shot.  Let's hope he pulls it together for the Lakers.  I wish him well.

I thought LeBron or someone inside the organization said that Mozgov was still not recovered from injuries.

Bucks, Matthew Dellavedova agree on 4-year, $38.4M offer sheet

If you look at LeBron's tweet, I'm pretty sure that's the writing on the wall; he's too savvy to tweet "good luck in Milwaukee!" if the Cavs were even thinking of matching.

Nice work, Delly.  Hate to see him go but considering that the man was making well under $1M/yr two years ago, can't blame the man for cashing in with the ring and the new salary cap.

That's robbery.

That's robbery.

The preferred term these days is "business." :-P
