  • massive team effort & big win on espn vs okc tonight — awesome game and superb coaching and substitutions — anyway, i watched most of it out, but the end back at our dystopian atlanta hotel - 😂🎉

  • Great win! Six-and-one!! Great to see Garland and Mitchell together for a full game. Those two are going to be magical as they play together more.

He was the PF from Arizona a third of the fan base wanted us to take #1 over Irving back in the 2011 draft.  There were rumors that he was Dan Gilbert's guy, but Grant picked Irving anyway (thankfully).  He turned into a journeyman, never living up to the hype.  We now have on our roster the 1, 2, and 4 picks from the 2011 draft.

I'll admit that I was in that third that wanted to draft "D-Will." Hey, he was an absolute stud in college and Irving was coming off of an injury-ridden season at Duke. But when you're wrong, you're wrong. Oh well. Hopefully he can turn it around here with the championship culture LeBron has developed. Not sure why he wasn't successful elsewhere, but he is young and seems to have the physical tools and shooting ability to become a decent rotation player.

I think Williams is one of those guys whose combination of size and athleticism made him a beast for that one year at Arizona, but needs more of a basketball skillset to excel in the NBA.  I would guess that work ethic is an issue for him.

I think teams were also intrigued by that 57%(!!!!) shooting from 3 he had his sophomore year. Needless to say that turned out to be an aberration.

Williams status as a power forward/small forward "tweener" has been used against him in the past.  But I think he could be big enough and versatile enough to spell LeBron and RJ for periods, as well as run with Lue's new Cavs' 'Death Lineup' version Chris Fedor noted: LeBron, Jefferson, Williams, Korver, and Frye -- shortest guy is 6'7". ... I did note LeBron's minutes for Denver dropped to 33.  I didn't see the 2nd half of the game, but I suspect part of that could be more due to the fact the Cavs were blowing out Denver more so than Williams' presence, but I could be wrong.

Bottom line: I, like LeBron, really like the Williams pickup.  He's a talented misfit that hasn't found the right team until, perhaps now, who we gave up nothing for.

LeBron was playing well into the 4th period of the Denver game, which got to about a 10 points margin with a few minutes left.

So long, Birdman.

We hardly knew ya.

^That's six weeks he won't be able to suffer the type of injury that might sideline him for the playoffs.  There is not much doubt that the NBA season is too damn long.  I think this rest before the playoffs will end up being a good thing.  It might also give us a chance to experiment with different lineups.

I'm destined to never enjoy a Cavs regular season.

Also, do you guys think that of all the Cleveland fans that call into sports radio, that Cavs fans are the worst?

well, six weeks -- if love can come back at the end of march that does give him time to heal, get his leg strength back and get his game back on before the playoff season. bonus is he can enjoy march madness while he is stretching that leg.

I'm destined to never enjoy a Cavs regular season.

we enjoyed regular seasons in 2009 and 2010.  Those ended very badly.  Its all about May and June.  Cavs are still primed to be healthy by then.  BUT, i wouldnt be surprised at all if they moved Love.  He now has been injured seriously two of the three seasons, thats without the shoulder pulled out of the socket.  Sam Amico tweeted cavs ownership has approved all spending.  I think the Cavs will make a major move.

This was not what I would consider to be a serious injury.  It is the type of thing which he could have continued to keep playing with some discomfort and gotten it removed in the offseason.  I'm sure if we were closer to or already in the playoffs, that is exactly what would've happened.  But since we have some time to spare, he went ahead and got it fixed.  It would make no sense to trade him at this point.  He is having his best season yet in a Cavs uniform.  Some team would need to offer up some serious loot for a trade to make sense for the Cavs.

Does anyone know how or when Love got his knee injured. I do no recall any stories about knee injuries.

Having had the same surgery I can tell you that it doesn't require an injury. Sometimes stuff like cartilage just breaks off and floats, especially if you've had a previous injury, or, in Love's case, are a large athlete stressing the knees constantly. I had it happen in grad school and I waited until winter break to have it taken out. Actually in my left knee there has been a floater in there for about 25 years. Haven't had to take it out yet because it's so small.

Kyrie Irving actually believes the Earth is flat

Maybe he should’ve stayed at college for more than just one year.

Kyrie Irving, who makes a living shooting a round basketball for the Cavaliers and before that spent time at the esteemed Duke University, thinks the earth we all live on is flat.

^ Good Lord

I'm with Kyrie. It's an enormous conspiracy with the government, scientists and airplane pilots all in cahoots. The rest of you are fools for believing what has been spoon fed to you by the elites.

I personally don't care what kyrie thinks about the earth.

Edit: looks like they are making fun of trump by making up fake stuff and seeing how many believe him

Wait..... people thought he was being serious ?

Seems like it, and people were pretty passionate about it to. Not sure why

I was listening to WTAM driving into town this afternoon, and the hosts were dead serious about it; thought Kyrie had lost his mind... of course, I shouldn't be surprised.  At WTAM, they're not the sharpest knives in the drawer by any means.

Visit the Trump thread. There's a real backlash going on against stupidity right now.

What I can't understand is how Kyrie could name his greatest of all time and NOT include LeBron.  One pundit noted that all those he named were retired, but also pointed out that the question didn't specify guys no longer playing and, even if the questioner did, it was incumbent on Kyrie to add a LeBron footnote... Kyrie is obviously a great player who, barring a (heaven forbid) catstrophic, career-ending injury, has a space reserved in Springfield.  But the heights he's achieved up to age 24 were all clearly derived from playing along side Number 23... All this to say  Kyrie's non-acknowledgement of LeBron was a bad look and he needs to amend his comments with the quickness. LeBron, being a professional, will no doubt not mention it and move on, but he's got to feel the diss from his number teammate even in laughing off Kyrie's "flat earth" comment, where LeBron acknowledged "... that's my guy."

... not to mention the actual fact that LeBron IS one of the greatest of all time ... clearly the best small forward of all time in my book, even over guys  like Bird, Baylor or Dr. J, among others....

Wait..... people thought he was being serious ?

Seemed that way.  I was one of the few saying "come on, he's trolling....."

ESPN had College GameDay at UNC yesterday and there were students holding signs making fun of Kyrie. They must not have gotten the joke, either.

Well college kids are dumb, I'll give them a pass.

Kyrie has tripled-down on the Flat Earth crap. He also believes in aliens, that Earth is the only planet, the moon landing was faked and a host of other conspiracy theories. It's rather amusing and sad. #ALTERNATIVEFACTS

I thought it was established that he's mocking alternative facts.

He absolutely is. The fact that people keep reporting on it is just proving his point.

I saw it in three media outlets over the weekend and haven't followed up with it since then. If it hasn't been made clear in the articles, then that's a problem.

^i think that's kinda the point , isn't it?

Sounding like we will get Deron Williams once he clears waivers for sure and quite possibly Andrew Bogut too. My guess is Jordan McRae is out and the other DWill sticks

^That's probably what's going to happen.  Despite the Cavs not saying it, they're likely scared of the Larry Sanders of today whereas they would have jumped at him 2 years ago... Too much baggage and he's not player ready.  I'm excited about possibly landing Deron Williams at the backup point and Bogut will be a plus.  Derrick Williams will likely be a key asset although, as we saw tonight, there are occasions where he gets beat on D and can be out of control on offense.  But LeBron and Lue's system will benefit him.  McCrae is definitely gone: too inconsistent offensively and a sieve defensively.  Liggins will likely stick due to his tenacious D.

I'm confident in this team if we can stay healthy.  Korver was a huge get and, as noted, Derrick Wms' size and athleticism will take some load off both RJ and LeBron.

Korver has definitely found his rhythm. Cavs are playing better as a team with Love out. See if this trend continues.

I recorded that chase down block last night and posted it on Facebook a few minutes later. It was a thing of beauty.

His mastery of that tactic has probably lifted his D enough that he may now be considered the GOAT.  Especially when you consider that Jordan had dispensations well beyond "superstar rules" when the NBA needed his marketability desperately.

If the Cavs beat GSW again with Durant it's not even a question about GOAT anymore. Jordan never faced a team with that level of talent in his career. The 80s Celtics and the 90s Pistons, Rockets, Jazz and Knicks aren't even close. No disrespect to those teams either, it's just a matter of fact.

LeBron's block was a thing of beauty just like his much more important Game 7 saving block on Iguodala  -- of which I have the black T-shirt immortalizing it.  Thompson has also suddenly become a shot-blocking machine since the playoffs.  He had 4 last night and the team total was 10; at least tying a team record, I believe.

OUCH  :-D

With virtually no trade assets, Griff restocked the bench with Korver, both DWills, and Bogut. Give him Exec of the Year Award now.

Cleveland Cavaliers players, coaches react to news of Kevin Durant's knee injury

Cleveland Cavaliers players and coaches reacted Wednesday to news that Golden State Warriors All-Star Kevin Durant will be out of action for about a month after he sprained the medial collateral ligament in his left knee and bruised a bone in his leg earlier this week.

As the Cavs prepared for tonight's game in Boston against the Celtics, LeBron James said of the news: "I hope it's not serious. We'll see what happens."

The Warriors said Wednesday they have not ruled Durant out to return before the end of the regular season.

Durant hyperextended his knee early in the Warriors' 112-108 loss to the Wizards on Tuesday. He later underwent an MRI, which revealed a Grade 2, sprain in the knee and a bruised tibia.

Andrew Bogut breaks his leg just 58 seconds into his debut as Cavs' D once again waves the red cape defensively in losing to the (currently) Lottery Heat for the 2nd straight time.  To add salt in the wound, the previously slumping Dion Waiters torches us in the 1st half then banks in a 3-point dagger to close out the game... Too many guys are having career nights against the Cavs.  We have no defensive ball pressure, aren't covering the 3-point line and are getting pick 'n rolled as if its going out of style.  Now just 20 games left and our D is as bad as its been all year.

  • 2 weeks later...

The Cavaliers are catching some static for sitting the Big Three Saturday for the Clippers game.  I’m going to say Good For Them.  If you don’t like the league scheduling back to back road games for the higher end teams, it’s one thing to complain.  It’s more effective to strike back, which sitting them out of the TV game in LA most certainly did.

^ I think this is some passive aggressive work to shorten the season as well.  Almost all players want a shortened regular season.  Im sure most coaches do as well.  Owners probably not because of the money, and NBA probably not because of the money.  In all reality, playing each team in your conference 3 times (3*14=42)...and playing each team in the other conference twice (2*15=30)...would shorten the season 10 games...which is probably about the rest the players want anyway.  For whatever reason, they a fourth game with 10 other conference opponents in. A 72 game season would probably go a long way in terms of rest and eliminating back to backs.

Conversely, if the season was shortened 10 games, it wouldnt be as easy for people like Lebron to break scoring, assist and Rebounding records
