Also, he really needs to stop shooting threes at crucial points of the game. What a strange time to single out Mobley's deficiencies. He had 25 points, 17 rebounds, and 3 blocks last night. He got stripped one time in this game. He shot one late three, with the Cavs down 9 and 4:24 left, and he followed it up by scoring on a layup on the same possession after a Lamar Stevens offensive rebound. Then he got a block and a rebound on the next defensive possession.
March 7, 20232 yr 6 minutes ago, LibertyBlvd said: Mobley did OK last night. Allen had an off night. He didn't score until pretty late in the game. The uneven play I'll chalk up to the Donovan Mitchell effect. The team still isn't where it should be with the ball sharing, hoping a healthier Rubio can help with that balance.
March 7, 20232 yr Mobley's decision making at key points of the game need to improve. He needs to pass the ball to a guard before he turns it over (as he usually does)and stop taking threes until his percentages is well above 19.4% (which is simply awful). He contributed last night, but needs to stay in his lane which is rebounding, defense and low post shots.

March 24, 20232 yr a very different nets team upped their game and effort x1000 and really took it to the cavs last night at the barclays. the cavs seemed ready for that — they played smart and ugly and made sure to follow up, hang around and keep it close. so as it went the cavs were losing all night, in fact they were down 6 near the end of the game when we got booted out of our pizza parlor where we were watching (they close at 10pm lol). so i missed the end of the game — and thats when this happened! http://www.espn.com/video/clip/_/id/35927958

March 25, 20232 yr Going to the game tomorrow. A win clinches a playoff spot and more or less cements the Cavs in the 4 seed (although 76ers surprise loss to GS leaves a small window open to sneak into 3rd). Let’s hope Cavs tcob! Edited March 25, 20232 yr by bumsquare
March 25, 20232 yr Nets were playing a great game! Just going right at Mobley/Allen on offense AND defense. If Caris and Cedi can somehow keep that consistency off the bench that would be huge. Also so good to see Rubio getting back into it. His court vision is off the charts...just watch how his passing leads to those easy buckets.
March 25, 20232 yr Am I reading this correctly? Looking like Cavs are statistically at #4 whether they go 7-0 or 1-6...apparently 0-7 knocks us to 5th. http://www.playoffstatus.com/nba/cavalierswhatif.html

Looking like Cavs are statistically at #4 whether they go 7-0 or 1-6...apparently 0-7 knocks us to 5th. http://www.playoffstatus.com/nba/cavalierswhatif.html No. What this means is that if we go 6-0 for our last 6 games, we have a 52% chance of the #4 seed, a 46% chance of the #3 seed, and a less than 3% chance of doing any better than that, and we do not control our destiny for that #3 seed. If we go 5-1, there's a 78% chance we're the #4 and a 22% chance we're the #3. If we win 4, 3, 2, or 1 of our last 6 games, the chances of us being the #4 seed are greater than 90%, though if we go 1-6 or 0-6, there is a chance that someone could knock us out of #4. So the odds are overwhelming that we're the #4 seed at this point, but we do still have something to play for for now. If we go 1-1 in our next couple of games, though, largely eliminating the best-case and worst-case scenarios, expect to see a lot of starters get a lot more rest in those final games.

March 27, 20232 yr i see the sixers have 8 games to go and a tougher schedule, so cavs could get to the third seat. its doable, if out of the cavs hands. for now, we are all nuggets fans tonight lol!
March 29, 20232 yr On 3/27/2023 at 11:02 AM, mrnyc said: for now, we are all nuggets fans tonight lol! Denver delivered the win over Philly ... but we didn't deliver the win over Atlanta, falling just short, 118-120, despite a 44-point output from Donovan Mitchell. We need the wins to catch more than Philly does to keep their lead over us (and they have the tiebreaker). So the odds of us reaching the 3rd seed have shrunk.
April 6, 20232 yr welp seems its a lock — With the Nets’ loss to the Timberwolves on Tuesday night and the Cavaliers’ win over the Magic, the Knicks clinched the fifth seed in the Eastern Conference and the Cavaliers are now locked into the fourth seed. As a result, that means the Knicks will face the Cavaliers in the first round of the playoffs.

April 16, 20232 yr not looking good for the cavs ugh — here is why: Cavs’ flaws exposed by tougher New York Knicks in Game 1 playoff loss Updated: Apr. 16, 2023 By Chris Fedor, cleveland.com CLEVELAND, Ohio -- As the Cavs were rocketing into contention this season, banking 51 wins, clinching the Eastern Conference’s fourth seed, securing home-court advantage and finally emerging from LeBron James’ shadow, there were still plenty of detractors who pointed to their flaws. It’s what separated them from the East’s elite. Those flaws were exposed by New York in Game 1 Saturday night. more: https://www.cleveland.com/cavs/2023/04/cavs-weaknesses-exposed-by-new-york-knicks-in-game-1-playoff-loss.html
April 19, 20232 yr Absolutely electric game yesterday - just about everyone played up to their potential but there's still room for improvement (Mobley/Allen/Osman are all capable of much better offense). Encouraging signs but hopefully they're able to steal at least 1 game in NYC and re-gain homecourt advantage
April 19, 20232 yr A good ol'-fashioned spanking of the Knicks by the Cavs yesterday. Loved the game- but I'm hoping that Jared Allen isn't targeted by Knicks players on Friday after that run-down block/ tech foul towards the end of the game yesterday. The contact was unintentional by Allen who was clearly trying to block the shot at the rim. Edited April 19, 20232 yr by Oldmanladyluck
April 19, 20232 yr this means its a lock for the cavs. 😆 Stephen A.: Cavs have 'no chance' vs. Knicks in Game 3 1h
April 19, 20232 yr That game was one of the sloppiest, playground-ball games I've ever seen in the NBA. Hopefully the Cavs can bring that same energy to Game 3 at MSG!

April 23, 20232 yr You have to say that The Knicks pretty much destroyed the Cavs in games 3 and 4 in NY - the series is over (although I could see the Cavs possibly winning a game 5 in CLE - but I could just as easily see them losing ) How do the Cavs improve in the off season?
April 23, 20232 yr Welp, I guess this was another learning experience for the young Cavs. I think that was learning experience #27. Cavs seem to be lacking physical and mental toughness. Production off the bench has been disappointing. Not sure if Rubio will ever return to his pre-injury form. Danny Green hasn't been much help. I wonder if JB will be around next season? I wonder if JB will be around next season? Yeah at least yesterday's game got interesting in the third/early 4th quarter. But everyone needs to step up in the playoffs all four quarters. The Knicks are playing with a chip on their shoulder because the media all said they shouldn't be in. Unfortunately the young Cavs don't know how to counter. Makes you wonder if we would see better results if "grandpa" Kevin Love was still on the bench?
April 27, 20232 yr Grandpa Love should’ve been on the bench - at least he has a ring and a ton of playoff experience. Dean Wade, his “replacement “ played a total of 11 minutes in the series. Man, that was ugly - the Cavs have to get A LOT better - Do you think Bickerstaff is the man for the job? Nice guy - but I have serious doubts after watching the lack of offensive flow, mental toughness and intensity. Cavs got an ass-whoopin’ and just sayin “we’ll, we’re young” ain’t good enough.
April 27, 20232 yr Grandpa Love's team stunned Haslam's Bucks and they are advancing to the next round. Yeah, it would have been nice to have him come in off the bench. The Cavs were out hustled, out muscled, out coached, out everything in the series. The "we're young" excuse was OK last year, but not anymore. Something has to change.
April 27, 20232 yr A group of friends got together to watch the first game but it was such a bad experience I stopped there. Strange season. I really lost a lot of interest when Love was traded. I think in some ways that moment symbolized the end of the good feelings of last season and the start of something else.
April 27, 20232 yr Last night I went to the game, and noticed that during every time out, Bickerstaff and his coaches would meet under the basket and let the players be by themselves at the bench. They would draw something up then go over to the bench at the last second to talk to them. Maybe it's me, but most of the NBA coaches I've watched are there with a clipboard in hand, shouting instructions and huddling up the next 5 on the floor as soon as the players reach the bench. I don't watch a ton of basketball on TV until the playoffs and I do realize that we probably don't see it on TV if other coaches are doing this as this would be right when they cut to commercials. Clearly Bickerstaff has had his share of success and must have reasoning for this, but in the playoff-level of intensity I found this very odd.

Kevin was precisely what this team was missing, a veteran who not only has playoff experience but has won it all. He's more supporting cast than leader though. If only there was another player out there with multiple rings, a huge amount of playoff experience, a tradition of taking the bull by the horns, and ties to the city and franchise....
