Anyone else starting to bubble up with excitement?? :-D.... Through all to complaining about this and that we've done this year about the Cavs, their magic number is down to 3 wins in order make the playoffs... the playoffs for the first time since 19-frickin-98!!!  Though I don't expect them to go too far this year, I'm just happy to see that they're finally going to make it.

I hope they'll surprise me and make it out the first round; they've tended to play skittish this season when playing quality teams and the game becomes tight, I don't think that will go over too well for them in the playoffs.  But like I said, maybe they'll surprise me; either way, I'll actually excited about saying wait till next year (assuming they'll be even better of course).

The Land has been one of the nicknames for Cleveland since the mid-90s at least, specifically within the Black Community and within Hip-Hop culture. That along with C-Town, which more people may be fa

  • massive team effort & big win on espn vs okc tonight — awesome game and superb coaching and substitutions — anyway, i watched most of it out, but the end back at our dystopian atlanta hotel - 😂🎉

  • Great win! Six-and-one!! Great to see Garland and Mitchell together for a full game. Those two are going to be magical as they play together more.

DJ earned his paycheck today with a season-high 22 points...the Cavs are on one of their streaks right now, but the difference with this one is that every game is close and we're actually closing the deal in the 4th...rather than using the 4th to blow the game.  That, and there's a different star every night.  I mean, other than Lebron, that is.  One night, it's Flip Murray, the next, it's Donyell and tonight it was DJ.  This is how a team should be clicking heading into the final 12 games of the season!

Playoff magic #: 2

4th Seed magic #: 9

Yay!!!!! :-D Cavs clinch by whooping the Mavs!!

Whoo hoo! Great game for Lebron. Let's hope they get home court for the first round. They'll need that comfort zone to take the edge off the jitters.

Yep! They clinched their first playoff spot last night with a victory over the Dallas Mavericks. Not only does it feel good to have your hometown team in the playoffs but the extra games played at the "Q" should bring a lot of extra money to the Gateway-area restaurants.

A little OT, but I think all 3 Cleveland sports teams will make the playoffs this year.

I think the magic # is now 8 for home court advantage...MayDay, that means that any combination of Cavs wins and Wizards losses will secure home court adv. in the first round!

woo hoo!  go cavs!

You know... the way they've been playing as of late, I'm really starting to think the may actually be able to make some real noise in the playoffs.  They almost seem like a different team as of late, like a bonafied playoff team.  Damn, I can't wait... I may need to dip into my funds and get some playoff tix.

Incredible performance by LeBron and Wade today.  Instant classic.

The cavs have been killing it lately.

I'm affraid they will give all thru the end of the season and "choke" in the first round.

Someone, please calm my nerves!!!   I'm unsure as to my feelings about what the post season will hold for the cavs

^ Sshhhh!!!!.... Don't think such thoughts.  Just savor the moment.

I didn't get to watch the game, did Hughes come back 2nite?

^Yeah, he did not start but had 10 points in 20 minutes.

Magic number for 4th spot = 3

They absolutely CRUSHED tonight!  And all that with Z gone in under three minutes.  I hate to see hurt, hopefully it will just be a minor sprain.  Here is something to ponder though....does anyone think that maybe Z slows down the game when he is in.  He is a great 10-12 ft shooter, and a great garbage player underneath...but the game they playes today was very fast and athletic..I wonder if that lineup could be an option in the future?

^I think it is good and important that we can play both ways--with and without Z in the lineup  It gives us options to win based on how we are playing on a given night and also how the opponent is playing.  We can turn it up a notch if we have to and we can slow it down and play halfcourt if we have to.  This will become even more necessary in the playoffs.  Playoff games often can turn into halfcourt slugfests and we'll need Z's "garbage play" inside, especially if we make it to the second round against the Pistons.

so those of you who could watch how is the comeback of larry hughes going so far? man, his comeback timing could not be better. we need that depth. what a tear the cavs are on.

also, is big z ok? its was a sprain, right? i usually worry about those surgery enhanced glass feet of his.

as far as i heard its just a sprain.

which is good for a few reasons

1) verajon (sp?) will see some good minutes and mature his game

2) z really isn't needed for the rest of season. I'm assuming the cavs can hold on to their #4 seed without him. So Z being a little older, the glass feet, and his agility has dimunished significantly since coming into the NBA. Hopefully the rest he gets will be a boost, and let him play in sparse minutes to get his strength back up for the playoffs.

last night's game, with the exception of the 37-point 4th quarter, was a little frustrating.  It's not so bad, considering our current position, but man, we looked like a bunch of bums out there!  It's also painful to think of how we lost by 2 points and our free through percentage was well below 70%... this has been our undoing more than a few times...

regardless, the magic number for home-court is still 3.  We should be able to pull it off, but I just hope we're not heading for a slump!

^ Yep.  Not having Z out there really hurt us inside.

^e novo. nao esqueca senhor z e avariado.

the knicks game was aggravating. well, mostly because the knicks suck. but why give it larry "freakin just off the dl" hughes at the end? and why take a three when bron and someone else was open in the paint and all you needed was two to tie and go to ot? dum. arrrgh.....ok i feel better now.

I know...and if it hadn't worked for us several times before, I'd be pretty hoppin mad about it.  Fact is, that's the play that has won us several games of late...LBJ drives, dishes to the perimeter and someone (DJ, FM, whoever) nails the shot.  Also, I think the rule of thumb in a back-to-back when you're on the road is to go for the win, not the tie.  I don't necessarily agree, but whatever.

Come on, 3 more Cavs wins or Wizards losses and it's all a done deal anyway!

Let's start by knocking the Nets on their asses where they belong...

huh??  My portuguese isn't great.  but I think said, Don't forget Mr. Z is damaged??  LOL

^oh you got it!

i know but to hughes? he's fresh off ir. get it to thee man when he's open when its do or die like that. i also dont agree with the go for the win take when they had some rest time coming up afterward. its true tho that is a rule of thumb. oh well. the cavs can get some revenge at home next thursday when the knicks come to town.

meanwhile, oh man nets are on a major tear. 14 in a row. i will be checking that game out sat for sure. game of the week!

OK, so no one is chiming in after the Cavs beat the Nets, the hottest team in recent weeks, and beat them on the Nets' home court? C'mon folks! That was a playoff warm up if there ever was one!!

The Cavs beat the red hot Nets on the road without Z.  Its hard not to be excited about this ballclub now.  Go Cavs!

I was so preoccupied with entertaining my out-of-town guests that I forgot when this game started!  We went to Great Lakes before the Tribe game and were about to sit down in the cellar when I looked up at the screen...4th quarter and we're down 6!  I couldn't take my eyes off the screen as we pressed on, played tough D and let TheBron do his thing driving to the basket.  There was universal applause when the game was clinched and all was well in the world (or my world at least).

How sweet is it to know that Lebron can drive to the bucket and score whenever he feels like it?

^and....and....he can pop in the game winner from the just inside the 3pt line whenever he wants to too!:

kick ass!

the bench has been hot during this hot streak...Damon, Donyell, and now Hughes coming off the bench?  watch out!  we've got to be one of the most frightening teams for opponents to watch right now.

Is it the beard???????  What is up with that thing??!!  Is King James trying to look more intimidating??

Another great comeback last night!  So what if it was against the lowly Knicks.  Hughes got some good PT, the rest of the team played well enough.  Down the stretch we made our free throws and played solid defense.  I like the fact that we kept rolling even without TheBron.

yes, even against the knicks, this was a big win.  i feel bad for all the folks who went out to see theBron, but heck, they still got to see a helluva game!

Hughes definitely proved that he's back...as did big Z...and Marshall kept his hot hand smokin...which is right where we need it to be for the next month or so!

BTW, did anyone else notice that TNT was using stock footage of Downtown Cleveland for their broadcast last night?  I've seen this on FSN Ohio many times, but never noticed it with TNT before.  It's easy to tell now because we've got scaffolding on the TT.

I remember watching a game earlier on in the season when the weather was really nasty...lots of fog and rain.  TNT had their blimp/chopper out there and the shots were amazing because you could see the towers glowing through the haze and fog.

This is the first time that I've heard this news. (Its from ESPN)

"Two weeks ago in Orlando, Fla., Darko Milicic and his agent sat down to discuss his contract extension options. The talk was brief, according to agent Mark Cornstein, and rightfully so. Nobody is quite sure what Darko is worth, and it's unlikely he'll find out this summer.

That makes him an aberration among the top five members of the draft class of 2003. The other four are certain to receive maximum-value, five-year contract extension offers from their teams this summer.

To put it simply, LeBron James, Carmelo Anthony, Chris Bosh and Dwyane Wade are all "max" players.

James, Anthony and Wade are all expected to accept their extensions, but Bosh has said nothing definitive as of yet."

Re TNT: that Marv Albert backup really sucked.  I mean, how many times was he wrongly going to keep spouting that Thursday was the 1st game LeBron's ever missed when, obviously, he missed 6 last year b/c of Mutombo's elbow and had to wear the mask much of the rest of the season?  :shoot: :shoot: :shoot:

Speaking of Bosh, I'd somehow love it if we could get him in the Wine & Gold, this being his option year -- I believe he may be a restricted FA after the season... Of course, if I really got crazy, I'd dream about a Drew for Kevin Garnett deal.  Sure, we'd have to give them a Hughes and, maybe, a Sasha, but I'd make that deal in a NY minute... but it'll be only in my dreams.

you're right on that one...only in your dreams!  I'm sure bosh will be out of reach too.  Lebron's obviously priority #1 and after that, I doubt we'll even be able to keep Flip Murray.  Who else on this team will be up for a new contract soon?

In response to your commentator comment, clvlndr, TNT and some of the other national broadcasters really don't do their homework.  That, or their stats/info people are shoddy.  I've watched nationally televised games where they've just spouted out false information from beginning to end and it really gets irritating!

Anyone know ... how's LeBron's ankle??

OK...WATCHING TV....IT'S ALL ABOUT CLEVELAND.  THE CITY LOOKS AMAZING.  WITH ALL THE THINGS GOING ON IN THE CITY...SHINE CLEVELAND....SHINE!

TIP OFF IN MINUTES

HOW WILL WE DO??

50-36 at halftime!!!!  yeah babeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

CAVS KICK BUTT!!  LEBRON: 32PTS, 10 REBS 11 ASSISTS IN HIS 1ST FRIGGIN' PLAYOFF GAME EVER!!!!!  CAVS ROCK!!!!!! WHIP THE WIZ!!!!

And the national media wondered how LeBron would handle his first playoff game... HA!!!.. just another day at the office for the King.  A triple double in his first playoff game, incredible!!!

I know every game won't be as easy as this one was, but it sure was sweet to watch.  I wish I could've have been there, the crowd at the Q was absolutely electric.

I WENT TO A CAVS PARTY HERE IN NYC...THE FUCKIN PLACE ROCKED.  THE KING RULED!

I HEAR DOWNTOWN CLEVELAND IS MADHOUSE!

And the great bonus re this human phenom is you can root for LeBron, the person... he seems like such a nice, down to earth kid... No knucklehead-ness w/ this hometown guy; he's incredibly humble.  And for that we can rejoice.
