May 4, 200916 yr this is touching! I'm all verklempted. He looks so nice on the 52 Inch Screens throughout the floor! Take that you Beantown lovers!!!!! >:D
May 5, 200916 yr Very happy for him, but I could give two flying f's if we don't win a title. Agreed. No more consolation prizes. "In the souls of the people the grapes of wrath are filling and growing heavy, growing heavy for the vintage." -- John Steinbeck
May 5, 200916 yr Argh! Game 1 tonight is on TNT....8 pm....which probably means more stock footage of Cleveland and Charles Barkley weighing in on things.
May 5, 200916 yr Argh! Game 1 tonight is on TNT....8 pm....which probably means more stock footage of Cleveland and Charles Barkley weighing in on things. Really? You so sure about that?

May 5, 200916 yr Charles Barkley? yeah...He's in the pregame and halftime discussion for TNT. He's terrrrrible ..and to top it off, doesn't seemt to have any respect for Cleveland. Most recently, his comments on the city itself. What place does that have in a sports analysis anyway?? http://www.cleveland.com/cavs/index.ssf/2009/03/cavaliers_shrug_off_barkleys_d.html Argh! Stock footage? who knows, maybe they've have some live coverage this time.. is that what you were refering to? I was a little confused as well.

That was 2 months ago and that has been addressed and dealt with. I wont go any further than saying that. ;) So what is your point of bring that up and assuming what type of coverage the network will have?
May 5, 200916 yr Well does TNT not have the budget for new live shots all the time?? Maybe we're spoiled by ESPN and ABC usually having live shots showcasing the city around the arena. I know probably 90% of the country doesn't even care what the skyline looks like in realtime, but it's still a nice shoutout/showcase/respect for the city. I brought this up since TNT has consistantly not had live coverage of anything Cleveland recently. Hell, I think last game, there wasn't even a key on Key Tower and the scaffoling on TT was almost full...but I could be wrong. Bottom line .. who knows. Either way, Cavs home game, second round begins! Maybe I should find a cinco de mayo bar to watch the game tonight..

May 5, 200916 yr Last night Barkley was on TNT after the Lakers game saying how he hopes Lebron stays in Cleveland for his whole career, and wins multiple championships for his home town/region. Certainly unexpected after his last mention of Cleveland.
May 5, 200916 yr Last night Barkley was on TNT after the Lakers game saying how he hopes Lebron stays in Cleveland for his whole career, and wins multiple championships for his home town/region. Certainly unexpected after his last mention of Cleveland. Ooooooooooooh no it wasn't. Trust me, it wasn't.
May 5, 200916 yr just for the record gnarls sez he has alway loved cleveland and he's the only barkley that matters!
May 6, 200916 yr Im getting kind of tired of the pity party commentators throw...Mike Fratello of all people, who owns a home in the area kept saying the whole region hangs it hat on the cavs because we need it. I understand some Cleveland areas are not what we want them to be, but please dont act like all the fans at the Q are coming out of the ore mine with black lung to watch this game. We have a solid professional base in Cleveland for petes sake!
Lets ask this question, are some people being overly sensitive? If you're are unhappy with the broadcast what should you to do complain?
May 6, 200916 yr I like the broadcast, I enjoy Mike Fratello as well. Perhaps Im being oversensative, but still..i want to move past this phase. I dont think he needs to talk about foreclosures, rough economy. I like the direction the city is in, i think other cities have more significant problems than Cleveland. Sure Cleveland may have kicked off a foreclosure boom, but other cities have not only caught up, but surpassed. Anyway, the only time I hear praise about rejuvenation is from Mike Tirico on ABC...he says stuff like "Cleveland has done a phenomenal job turning its old warehouses into luxury living and dining, they are on the cusp of becoming a great city again".
May 6, 200916 yr Could you post that link again? I can't seem to find it. Sorry, but I've got some complaining to do. That 2 minute diatribe that sounded like a Forbes Top 10 Reasons Clevelanders Are Poor Schmucks That Only Have The Cavs In Their Life To Keep Them Happy really pissed me off. Had he just said "the city of Cleveland is goign through some rough times right now, so it's nice for the fans to have the Cavs playing so well" I wouldn't have minded so much. However, he rattled off a bunch of "reasons" that Cleveland was a terrible, terrible place. "Big companies are fleeing the region"? So the Medical Mart doesn't matter? Or the growing healthcare industry? The fact that our unemployment rate is LOWER than the national average? Or how about that home values haven't lost near as much here as in the "hot" areas like Las Vegas, Phoenix, California, and Florida? No, Cleveland is one of the most awful places anyone could be unfortunate to reside in according to TNT, and thank goodness the Cavs are playing well, or else we'd all probably be committing suicide. And of course, we must remmeber to drill this into EVERYONE's head every single time the Cavs are on TV. It's like TNT is the national version of the Plain Dealer. "We know drama." Apparently so. I am glad the Cavs are playing well. They are exciting to watch. But I'm sick and f*!@ing tired of the national media acting like professional sports is the only thing that keeps us all from going into a state of depression. I love living here, and the Cavs, Indians, and Browns are only a small part of that. And they're that same small part of loving living here even when they aren't playing well. And I know many other people that feel the same way. So BIG MIDDLE FINGER to you, TNT.
May 6, 200916 yr ^ My reaction exactly. Its not that bad here. Its not Detroit bad, its not stockton California bad, its not even parts of florida bad. Plus, you can beat the midwest friendliness. Fratello owns a home here, i expect more from him!
May 6, 200916 yr ^I'm trying my best not to be overly sensitive but, I think we are all just tired of the daily commentary about how bad it is.
May 6, 200916 yr I about crap my pants when he went into that whole commentary. My ears were burning by the end. The whole bit about how bad it is in Cleveland is just tired and played out, whatever. But the part about the fans filling the Q because it is the only positive thing? Please spare me, fans fill the Q because Cleveland has great fans, (overly)loyal fans and the fans in this town know that we are witnessing something special with LeBron. That's why we fill the Q. It isn't about the Cavs being the only good news in town, it is about wanting to be there to see (hopefully) history in the making.
May 6, 200916 yr Sorry I had to vent. Loved the bad pass off the steal that Lebron scooped up with one hand, switched hands in midair for the dunk. I bet that wally is feeling the charge that he took this morning, the poor guy can barely walk on a good day. Really nothing bad to say about the game. Mo had a little rust on his shot at first but he was on fire in the second half.
May 6, 200916 yr Really nothing bad to say about the game. The only bad thing I have to say about the game is that Z couldn't make a shot to save his life. Everyone else played well I thought. Delonte is probably one of the most underrated players in the league. He's not flashy, but he can score from the outside and off the dribble, and has one of the best stepback jumpers I've seen in a while. He clears some serious space with that move. Plus his defense was great as usual. He has very active hands and his quick hops to pick off a lob pass are amazing. Has anyone noticed that although Anderson is not a good shooter overall, he seems to have gotten pretty good at hitting that fall away to the left shot? Did Lebron teach him this? :)
May 6, 200916 yr i love the "cle" on these shoes... yeah... this guy just can't wait to get out of here.
May 6, 200916 yr i love the "cle" on these shoes... yeah... this guy just can't wait to get out of here. No, no. The "CLE" is part of "San CLEmente". LeBron's going to be a Clipper. I about crap my pants when he went into that whole commentary. My ears were burning by the end. The whole bit about how bad it is in Cleveland is just tired and played out, whatever. But the part about the fans filling the Q because it is the only positive thing? It isn't about the Cavs being the only good news in town, it is about wanting to be there to see (hopefully) history in the making. The problem is that the truth isn't as compelling a narrative as the sob-story being offered by Fratello. I LOVED the charge that LeBron took. What heart!
May 6, 200916 yr I finally found a good atlanta blog...unsurprisingly, it is from the acj: http://blogs.ajc.com/mark-bradley-blog/2009/05/06/live-from-cleveland-chatting-about-woody-and-his-hawks/ He's actually doing a live Q and A right now, so he may respond to a Clevelander..? EDIT: pictures show up too big
May 6, 200916 yr Did anyone else notice this? Cavs guard break nose in opener INDEPENDENCE, Ohio (AP) — Cavaliers guard Sasha Pavlovic broke his nose in the fourth quarter of Cleveland's Game 1 win over Atlanta on Tuesday night. Pavlovic was elbowed by Hawks forward Zaza Pachulia in the fourth quarter of the Cavs' 99-72 win. He left practice early on Wednesday and was fitted with a mask at the Cleveland Clinic. Cavs coach Mike Brown expects Pavlovic to be available for Game 2 on Thursday night. Pavlovic, whose playing time diminished toward the end of the regular season, had seven points and three rebounds in 12 minutes of the opener. The 25-year-old married his longtime girlfriend last week while the Cavs, who swept Detroit in the first round, were waiting for Atlanta to finish its series with Miami. May 7, 200916 yr Looks like some of the Hawks players were walking around tower city, and even went to go see X-Men...enjoying the simple amenities of Cleveland: http://www.wsbtv.com/sports/19375164/detail.html
May 7, 200916 yr I'm going to the game tonight (super excited!), but I was wondering if anyone has been to one of the fan fests beforehand. Are they worth going to? Anyone else going to the game tonight?
May 7, 200916 yr Looks like some of the Hawks players were walking around tower city, and even went to go see X-Men...enjoying the simple amenities of Cleveland: http://www.wsbtv.com/sports/19375164/detail.html From "May 5": "At lunch, I [Zach Klein from WSB TV] asked the gentleman [Lebron James] what he thought about the series and he said 'I don't think we will sweep them like we did Detroit, but it should be no contest.' " Hahahahahaha .. I LOVE that. :) EDIT: the above quote actually may not have been from Lebron. I think it was actually from someone with whom Zach had lunch or met at the restaurant.
May 7, 200916 yr Im looking at the goodyear blimp right now from the CSU law library, looks like were going to have live shots of Cleveland instead of 5 year old stock footage tonight.
May 8, 200916 yr wow, this looks like a blowout in the making. Yes! I don't like that Delonte cut his hair. :x
May 8, 200916 yr oh my god...That shot was insane! What a way to end the half!!! Amazing!
May 8, 200916 yr oh my god...That shot was insane! What a way to end the half!!! Amazing!      Would have been even more bada$$ if he just put his head down and jogged into the locker room after the shot. Haha i bet Varejao whispered something to lebron like "that shot never would have happened if it wernt for my pass to you 3 seconds earlier"
May 8, 200916 yr I'm thinking we may be able to take this in 4. However, the Cavs scare me away from the Q.
May 8, 200916 yr Im looking at the goodyear blimp right now from the CSU law library, looks like were going to have live shots of Cleveland instead of 5 year old stock footage tonight. I don't like the shots of downtown, it looks so dark, you can't really see any building.
May 8, 200916 yr Dayum! 61-37 in the third quarter?? (all I can get is the score, but the commentary makes me feel included.)
May 8, 200916 yr This is from the reporter-blogger from the ACJ, Mark Bradley, that MuRray HiLL posted above. Ughhhhhhhhhhhhhhh http://www.fox8.com/wjw-billatlantafeud-0507,0,4248017.story http://blogs.ajc.com/mark-bradley-blog/2009/05/07/live-from-cleveland-game-2-and-the-mayor-is-mad-at-me/
May 8, 200916 yr Wowwwwww, what an embarassment that video clip is. Seems like failed attempts at 3rd - 4th grade bullying, its painful watching the fox 8 anchors run their little games and the atlanta guy, rightly so, not giving into it and starting an argument that fox 8 was hoping for
May 9, 200916 yr I finally found a good atlanta blog...unsurprisingly, it is from the acj: http://blogs.ajc.com/mark-bradley-blog/2009/05/06/live-from-cleveland-chatting-about-woody-and-his-hawks/ murray good find. it's all hawk business and no cle dot bomb style bashing and nonsense. what did i learn from it? atl shooting coach? mark price. hey, how about that? actually, i had heard that awhile ago and forgotten all about it. always nice to catch up with our "little general." anyway, at least those poor hawks fans have a good blog.
May 10, 200916 yr OK. One more game and we can end this. It wasn't pretty, but it's a "W". Mo and Delonte, you gotta step up and Joe you're making fundamental mistakes. Pull it together fellas.
May 11, 200916 yr LeBron was awesome. He shouldn't have to pour in 47, but ATL was defending our other shooters pretty well. I'm glad 'Bron is pretty much undefendable. "In the souls of the people the grapes of wrath are filling and growing heavy, growing heavy for the vintage." -- John Steinbeck
May 11, 200916 yr Ohh you should hear some of the people out here in LA. This city is getting scared. All you used to hear was how this was the Lakers year, and nothing was going to stop them, but now the Cavs have gotten a LOT more press and attention. People are finally starting to see that the Cavs might actually be able to beat Kobe and his minions...er I mean the Lakers.
May 11, 200916 yr .....Especially after the Yao-less Rockets slammed LA today. I still want to see how the Cavs play on the road against a team at full strength. "In the souls of the people the grapes of wrath are filling and growing heavy, growing heavy for the vintage." -- John Steinbeck
