July 17, 201014 yr Pinning the hopes of the city/region on one sports star isn't fair to any of us, LeBron included. Best of luck to him. Just think -- if as much energy, engagement, and "team spirit" that went into the LeBron campaign could be put into such things as improving our schools, decreasing crime, putting solid leaders in place, and public and private sectors working together for a strategic vision for the city and area -- people, including sports stars, will want to come here. Move on LeBron, move on Cleveland. Tell that to the factory worker who lost his job five years ago but found employment downtown as a parking lot attendant who may lose his job again. Tell that to the single mom working her way through college at a bar in the Warehouse District who may lose her job. Yes, eventually our anger will subside a bit, and from there it's up to us turn things around here, but don't be so callous right now. This one hurts, and it's more than just the on-the-field aspect. Heck it's more than just the economic aspect. One of the greatest athletes in the world, a native, just spurned us on national television. There's no "getting over it." But that's just the point. We cannot pin all that on one player making a decision. I agree it was a huge f*&^ you to Cleveland and in the days that have ensued since the decision I think most see it as just that -- an indecent spectacle at best. I'm not saying "get over it" I am saying "move on". I tihnk the quicker we start to believe in ourselves the better. Believe me, I work in the service industry and I am completely aware of the employment impact things like this can have on sports, entertainment and leisure service jobs and I am empathetic to people who work in my industry who face job loss challenges. I can tell you however that allowing ourselves to feel victimized won't change the future. I respect your opinion and thanks for listening to mine. I think we both want what's best for this city. Sorry if my post seemed a bit harsh, I wrote that right after he made his betrayal, so I was really angry at that moment. I've calmed down quite a bit since then.
July 19, 201014 yr http://www.cleveland.com/lebron/index.ssf/2010/07/michael_jordan_on_lebron_joini.html Not surprised....MJ says"it's not something that I would have done." http://www.cleveland.com/lebron/index.ssf/2010/07/magic_johnson_on_lebron_beat_y.html Magic Johnson joins the chorus.
July 22, 201014 yr LeBron James "trade"? I didn't watch "The Decision" so that's the first time I'd heard him say it. So who is Tom Green? "In the souls of the people the grapes of wrath are filling and growing heavy, growing heavy for the vintage." -- John Steinbeck
July 22, 201014 yr I don't understand why you all can't let this go. The people here need to get over this and fast. He's gone...move on!

July 22, 201014 yr ^For someone that is so admittedly spiteful..... ummmm, really? I am, but if someone doesn't want to be here, why keep putting them in the spotlight? The best bet is to ignore them. I told my folks over at the NBA "don't ask me anything" since his "decision". He doesn't exist in my world. I'm more concerned about the CLEVELAND CAVS and what's their rebuilding/developments are.

His favorability rankings have tanked. He essentially went from untouchable golden boy to villian in one summer.
July 22, 201014 yr So who is Tom Green? He was the host of a cable television program on The Music Television station in the late 20th century. I understand he was very popular with the young people.

If I worked for the CAVS...the things I would do!
July 22, 201014 yr BTW, I have been one of the biggest doubters of the whole Delonte/Gloria thing. While I still think there is some element of the "telephone game" to it, my wife met someone who works with the Cavs yesterday and he confirmed that something went down along the lines of the rumors. I won't say who it was who told her that, but I will say that it is someone whose name would be recognized by anyone who reads this thread.... not some ticket rep or dance team member. A very prominent figure in the Cavs family.

July 23, 201014 yr If Delonte banged Gloria, that would be a ridiculous reason for the Prince to leave town. I don't know if it's true or not, just saying. In regards to basketball, if the Cavs can get Ramon Sessions from the T-Wolves, I'd be happy. He's a solid young PG and would do well coming off of the bench behind Mo. And I think he would fit in Scott's system.
July 27, 201014 yr Looks like the Cavs are getting ready to deal Delonte West and Sebastian Telfair to Minny for Ramon Sessions, Ryan Hollins and a future 2nd round draft pick.
July 28, 201014 yr No he's not. CBC's shot was right between the eyes. Awesome, CBC. "In the souls of the people the grapes of wrath are filling and growing heavy, growing heavy for the vintage." -- John Steinbeck

July 28, 201014 yr I wish I had thought of it, I was just repeating my friends comment. I went to the Tribe game on Sunday and was amazed at the large selction of anti-lebron shirts the street vendors have already, including the "LeBron maybe heading south, but his momma is riding West"...hehehe..
July 28, 201014 yr Hollins is solid, too. Even though I said that I wanted Sessions (and I'm still glad they got him), I'm a little bit disappointed that they didn't get Danny Granger. Apparently last Friday someone put together a hoax claiming that he was coming to Cleveland, and WKNR reported it. That really got my hopes up. Oh well...
July 28, 201014 yr The Pacers turned down way more from the Nets (Harris, Yi and #3 pick) than we could ever offer for Granger. He was never a realistic possibility. Bird is greedy in trades - i.e. wanted Z, JJ AND a 1st round pick for Troy Murphy last year.

Bird is greedy in trades - i.e. wanted Z, JJ AND a 1st round pick for Troy Murphy last year. You're probably right. I think they said it was going to be West, JJ or Andy, and a few draft picks, and maybe some of that trade exception money, if I recall. Just a hoax, though.
July 28, 201014 yr R.I.P. Lorenzen Wright - http://www.commercialappeal.com/news...renzen-wright/ Sounds like foul play. 39 years old and 6 kids. EDIT: Link appears broken. He had been declared missing a few days ago. He was found in the woods in Memphis. No details yet, but the story said that he was carrying quite a bit of cash when he left his ex-wife's home.
July 29, 201014 yr Oh man!! There's going to be a story coming out of this. Very sad for his family. "In the souls of the people the grapes of wrath are filling and growing heavy, growing heavy for the vintage." -- John Steinbeck
July 29, 201014 yr Fan wearing LeBron James Heat jersey draws ire in Cleveland, escorted from ballpark 07-28-2010 10:39 PM EDT CLEVELAND (Associated Press) -- A fan wearing a Miami Heat jersey of LeBron James drew the ire of the crowd at a Cleveland Indians game and was escorted out of the ballpark. Fans in the left-field bleachers chanted obscenities and pointed at the man Wednesday night during the sixth inning of the game between the Indians and New York Yankees. Hundreds of fans joined in before security led the man out of Progressive Field. As he left, some fans followed him toward the gate with more derisive chants. July 29, 201014 yr My friends and I were wondering what that was about. We did notice that as the cops were leading this fella and his classy lady friend down the aisle that the lady was making some sort of hand gesture at the folks around them. Then, as they were nearly at the gate, she turned on her heel, ran down an aisle, and began throwing punches at some other fan before she was pulled off by the cops. Good times. Haven't seen a ballpark fight in a while.
July 29, 201014 yr ^I heard that was quite a scene. I was near the top of the Dawg Pound up near the scoreboard (where the true DP is located in the new stadium) last year when some knucklehead tried to walk up the stairs in a Ravens jersey. Stadium security could not even handle the fiasco that ensued and had to run to get back up from real police. Peanuts, popcorn and beer were flying from everywhere.
July 29, 201014 yr ^I heard that was quite a scene. It was. I was in right-center in the 3rd row and Nick Swisher was having fun with the fans during the fight.
July 29, 201014 yr That article about the Lebron jersey-wearing fan was the most-forwarded article appearing on ESPN.com today. "In the souls of the people the grapes of wrath are filling and growing heavy, growing heavy for the vintage." -- John Steinbeck
July 29, 201014 yr What did that guy expect? Seriously. He also appeared to be wearing an Indians hat, which says a lot.
July 31, 201014 yr Joey Graham has signed. Probably the last move we make before the season starts if I had to guess.
August 3, 201014 yr Thoughts on the LeQueen letter to the fans in Akron? He still couldn't show any love towards the city that treated him like royalty for the last 7 years. Another slap in the face if you ask me. But what goes around... REALLY goes around.
August 3, 201014 yr Thoughts on the LeQueen letter to the fans in Akron? He still couldn't show any love towards the city that treated him like royalty for the last 7 years. Another slap in the face if you ask me. But what goes around... REALLY goes around. I expect nothing less from him. In his provincial world, which is based around how he grew up, Akron and Cleveland are as separate and distinct as North Korea and South Korea. Forget the fact that the Cavaliers spent two decades playing in Summit County. Forget the shared media markets, the CSA (which will soon be an MSA). No, to him, Akron is an island and all that matters, which is why he thinks he can thank them and try to win back their support, and everything will be peachy. He doesn't realize what most of us here know, that Akron is not a bubble. There is too much overlap for him to think he can get away with that. He's going to be reminded of this reality on Saturday when he tries to have his Bike-a-Thon in Akron and his reception isn't as he probably hopes or expects.
August 3, 201014 yr I got a Twitter update from Windhorst saying the Heat will be in town Dec 2 playing on TNT. Now up on Cleveland.Com too. That's going to be a sh!t show.
