I believe their second visit will be March 29th.  I'm glad they're coming to town twice.

  • massive team effort & big win on espn vs okc tonight — awesome game and superb coaching and substitutions — anyway, i watched most of it out, but the end back at our dystopian atlanta hotel - 😂🎉

  • Great win! Six-and-one!! Great to see Garland and Mitchell together for a full game. Those two are going to be magical as they play together more.

I believe all non-divisional eastern conference teams visit each other twice per season.

"In the souls of the people the grapes of wrath are filling and growing heavy, growing heavy for the vintage." -- John Steinbeck

You play each team in your division 4 times and each team in the other conference twice.  However, the non-divisional conference teams very between 3 and 4 games for the season.  16 games in division + 30 games out of conference + 40 games in conference = 86 games.  So, they play 4 conference teams only 3 times per season.

Exactly, I was hoping the Heat weren't one of those teams with which the Cavs only had three games.

Are you sure they're not?  Maybe we only go to Miami once.

Perhaps.  Full schedule has not been released yet.  Regardless, all the NBA cares about is that the Heat have to come here twice.  I still have not decided whether I am going to be a part of that chaos or try to make a buck by selling my seats.

I wonder if this is true...

NBA Schedules Don't Give LeBron James a Primetime Cleveland Showdown

Despite a searing rumour, and it being one of the most anticipated games in NBA history, schedule makers decided yesterday that they will not give LeBron James and the Heat a primetime spot against Cleveland in the upcoming schedule.

NBA Commissioner David Stern recently acknowledged the legitimacy of the powerhouse teaming-up in Miami, saying that players have the right to choose what they will during free agency. But now his actions imply that he doesn’t want to show the world James beating up on his former team, despite the massive audiences this would obviously command. No, that kind of a meeting might just ring a bit hostile and unnecessary for a league still concerned with gentlemanly propriety and respect.

While it seems like a faltering business move on the face of it, it is one the NBA is right to make. After all, we’re not talking about professional wrestling here, but the integrity of a sports institution.

There is way more to this behind the scenes.  That's all I can say.  >:D

Nothing good can come out of the Heat in Cleveland games in regard to league branding.  I'd be scared too.

All that I can say is they better make sure they introduce Z directly after LBJ and not give the fans too long to get worked up.

They may have to set up the penalty boxh from the Monsters games to protect James when he is on the bench from a hail of beer and objects. Hell they should probably put the glass up around the whole court too. And a net on top. This could be a major sh!tstorm. Stern and Gilbert need to make sure that it is clear that there will be zero tolerence for throwing things at that game. Zero. Gilbert and the cavs need to come up with something that is a big enough FU to LeBron to satisfy the fans but has zero potential to escalate into anything violent.

In an alternate universe, where anything can happen, the best FU that Gilbert could give Lebron is to not sell any tickets and make the two teams play the obligatory game in an empty arena. Nobody is watching you, nobody cares.

Of course, he's just be hurting himself by losing out on the ticket / concession sales, and I'm sure the league wouldn't allow it. But I still think it would be a pretty funny thing to see (or not, as I wouldn't be there, since he wouldn't be selling tickets....)

That would be great to watch (or not watch)

You know what, I was thinking something similar.

Anonymously he buys out the arena or start an anonymous facebook page asking fans not to come to the game and for every ticket for that game, for those who do not show up a donation would be made to the boys/girls club and the local YMCA/YWCA.

^The problem with that is that in order for it to have an impact the arena would need to be EMPTY.  We can't have 5,000 fans scattered around the arena.  That would just look terrible.  It's an all or nothing kind of thing.

I completely agree.  Just set up screen all around the arena so that east fourth, prospect/Ninth and the WHD are all busy!

If I had the money I would buy everyone tickets plus 10%.  The game would still be televised.  I think that would be hilarious!

Ha!  No way you could get seasons tickets holders to sell for that price.  They're why this plan could never work.  They'll be peddling their tickets for a lot of money if they decide not to go.

That's why in my world, Gilbert just doesn't sell the tickets, or he unilaterally refunds them, or whatever. It has to be driven by ownership, not by the fans. If even one fan is in the stadium, it just is lame (well, one fan might be funny, especially if it were someone like Big Dawg)

Disregarding the effects this could have on potential seasons tickets sales, people have already begun to pay for (or have fully paid for) their seasons tickets for next year.  Even if it's legal at this point to force them to give one of those tickets up, I sure think it would be terrible business.

It sounds like a funny idea, but if it were to actually happen, I think it'd be nothing but an embarrassment to our city and our own team.  The best we can hope for out of this game is to magically find a way to pound the Heat and have our fans roaring with excitement and jeers throughout the whole game.

I think a brilliant marketing campaign call "Cleveland Decision" to boycott the game would be hilarious!  We would have the last laugh.

If only I had the money to buy all the tickets to that game, provide a place for all season ticket holders, say CPH, to view the game and experience all the amenities they would have a the Q I would totally do that.

An empty arena would be like a scrimmage on National TV and send a message to the Miami 3.

It's all in how you present the package!

Bah. Empty I say!!

So with the T-wolves waiving Delonte, does this mean we might consider bringing him back, or is his baggage just too much now?

Face value of tickets for the game has to be $1,000,000, not to mention concession sales.  No way Gilbert would willingly give that up.

I would love to see everyone in the arena turn their back to the court when Lebron's name is introduced before the game and the arena be COMPLETELY silent. Dont even boo the guy, turn your back on him like he turned his back on the city.

Wow, I think most of could have guessed that there's more to the story.  So what's the point of your post?  Either expand upon it or don't leave us hanging by making a post like that.

How about the old newspaper gimmick?  Everyone raise up newspapers and pretend they're reading while he is being introduced.

This maybe more psych 101-ish but hand our cardboard lebron masks and have 25,000 lebrons booing lebron...

I thought of this myself, too.  Coordinating it would be the hardest part.  The psychological impact would be tremendous, though, particularly on camera.

Oh Lebron...

Cleveland still on LeBron James' mind

LeBron James won't rule out returning to play for Cleveland some day, but admitted in an interview with GQ Magazine that owner Dan Gilbert's letter to fans on the night James left the Cavaliers gives him "a lot of motivation" for when he and his new Miami Heat teammates play his former club.

James told GQ: "I understand that a lot of people would be hurt" in Cleveland by his decision, but also said that growing up, he and his friends from Akron didn't always like Cleveland. Akron is about 40 miles south of Cleveland.

"It's not far, but it is far," James told GQ. "And Clevelanders, because they were the bigger-city kids when we were growing up, looked down on us. ... So we didn't actually like Cleveland. We hated Cleveland growing up. There's a lot of people in Cleveland we still hate to this day."

http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=5470162

So did LeBron and his mates hate Hudson, Macedonia, Stow, Cuyahoga Falls, Silver Lake........., or were they considered "Akron" metro?  Where exactly on Rte. 8 did they draw the line?  Apparently Bath is "Akron", it's 11 miles to Akron, and 24 miles to Cleveland.

What part of SE Florida will Lebron like?  All of Dade county? only half?

This article just further shows his immaturity and arrogance.

Riiiiiiiiight.......  Keep digging.  You must almost be to China by now.

Hey, even his family is spoiled watching the things he does on AND off the court!

Funny, with the article about Bernie in the PD.  Youngstown is farther away than Akron, and he gave everything he had to this city and its fans.

Why do you all care and are so upset. He's not even newsworthy!

Get over it already!

This "whoa is me" attitude and the thought that he owes us something is really annoying.  He doesn't owe Cleveland or the Cavs S--t!  Yes the way he left was poorly managed and irresponsible, and is what has fueled the backlash, but he's gone.  Move the f*ck on! GEEZ!

Dude...when new articles are published on news outlets, like the one today about his GQ interview, people are going to talk about it...so don't be surprised.

I'm pretty sure "whoa is me" and "woe is me" have two totally opposite meanings ;)

Damnit you know what I meant!  :whip:    Honestly, I had a brain fart and couldn't remember how to spell it!  LORD.

It's still hard to move on when everytime this douche opens up his mouth(which is often), he is either disrespecting Cleveland, Cleveland fans, basketball fans in general, the N.B.A. or being so f'n arrogant, everyone wants to puke. What he does owe us is some modecum of respect and what he has done consistently is the complete opposite. I think everyone agrees that he had every right to leave in free agency, but to completely lie about the whole process, go on national t.v. and disrespect us(not to mention to not have the decency to tell your former team that you were leaving)and then act like he didn't do anything wrong is shameful and unforgiveable. I usually don't get very upset about anything pro athletes do anymore, but I will NEVER forgive nor forget what this a-hole did and continues to do.

Picture25-1.png

He owed us the championship that he promised to us on multiple occasions.  If he didn't go on and on about how he was effectively going to break the city's curse, and so readily accepted the city's love as a "hometown hero," perhaps we wouldn't feel like he owed us anything or that we were entitled to watch him play in a Cavaliers uniform for another few years.  All of this came with the extremely unique circumstances of his playing for the Cavaliers franchise, circumstances that he played up as part of his "image."  Sure he had a lot of pressure on him, but for those seven years, he never once indicated that he wasn't up for the challenge.

The other reason we're mad, is that because his efforts off of the court to help build a championship for the Cavaliers were sub-par, especially in comparison to everything he's done since joining the Heat last month.  Taking a pay cut, actively recruiting other players to come play alongside of him, etc.--he did none of that here.

Okay so this is a pretty good song

Rumor has it that Windy is leaving for ESPN and he will likely be based in Miami. Considering he's one of the best beat writers in the league it'd be pretty disappointing to see him go...especially there.

An insider (who has broken news plenty of times before) on realcavsfans.

It's obviously logical too. Despite having a lot of talking heads that provide absolutely no insight into their respective sports, ESPN is pinnacle of sports journalism and Windy deserves to be there as much as anyone. It's only a matter of time, and it seems it's going to be sooner rather than later.

Also he has an "in" with the Chosen One-Third.

I'm not gonna hate on him if the salary bump is significant, but I wonder if this is the best long-term plan for Windy.  He could stay at the PD for as long as he wants.  This ESPN-Miami thing may only last until James decides to take his talents elsewhere.

BTW, I assume you are referring to Wine'N'Gold (or something like that) on realcavsfans, Triumph.  If it is him/her, it probably has some legs to it.  Several people thought he WAS Windy.

Max, actually. His credibility is the same as W&G's though.

I think the ESPN-Miami thing may only last until LBJ decides to leave (if he does), but I'd be very surprised if Windy didn't continue to work with ESPN in some capacity afterward. It's obvious to anyone who follows basketball that he's one of the best doing it and he'd eventually end up with ESPN. LeBron forming a superteam seemed to have bumped that date up quite a bit due to Windy's close ties to LeBron.

Still, I definitely can't hate on him. No reason to screw around here while the team is going through a rough stage if other, better opportunities present themselves. Writers don't make millions like the players do, so career advancement is quite important.
