say what you want about Hollins, the one time the cavs beat Lebron in our house, they couldnt of done without Holins.  He was ready to throw down the entire game.  He looked pissed and he didnt even have anything to do with Lebron's teams.  H made it personal and the fans appreciated that.

  • massive team effort & big win on espn vs okc tonight — awesome game and superb coaching and substitutions — anyway, i watched most of it out, but the end back at our dystopian atlanta hotel - 😂🎉

  • Great win! Six-and-one!! Great to see Garland and Mitchell together for a full game. Those two are going to be magical as they play together more.

Memphis would have to tank pretty hard. We only get their pick if its between 6 and 14

^This year.  We WILL eventually get a 1st rounder from them.  It eventually loses its protection (no protection in 2019 iirc).  The pick that is up in the air is the "right to swap" we have with the Lakers from the Sessions trade.  We have the right to swap any of our picks (including the one Miami owes us) for their pick so long as it is not in the lottery.  If they don't make the playoffs this year and/or we don't exercise our option to swap, then the right to swap expires.  There is no carryover into future years.

Cavs win again.  Speights is a beast....

Whoa let's calm down he has had a few good games, but let's wait and see him do this over an extended period of time

Maybe you need to follow the NBA a little bit.  Speights was a 1st Round (No. 14 pick) in a strong class.  As a sophomore, he starred in the NCAA championship game where Florida bested  Greg Oden/OSU.  He was injured early on with Philadelphia, and played behind (then strong) Elton Brand.  On Memphis he played behind Randolph and Marc Gasol.  Even in college at Florida, Speights had to play behind guys like Al Horford and Jokim Noah, and yet he still turned heads ... You don't need to see a ton of games to see this man clearly has skills over every current and recent big man the Cavs have had in recent years -- including Andy, who always works hard and has upped his game considerably and Tristan Thompson, who is improving before our eyes... Who else among Cavs' Bigs:  JJ Hickson?  Z (maybe Z pre-foot injury in the 90s, and I'm not even sure about that)?  an old Shaq? Drew Gooden??  ... I think not.  In terms of mobility, ability to score around the basket, ability to score from distance, rebounding, space-eating; Speights can even dribble/beat you off the dribble in the open court ... when you put all those skills together, the Cavs haven't had such a player.  And with Zeller still growing, needing to add strength and Andy out injured yet again, the Cavs would be absolutely crazy not to make a full-court press to secure this 25-year-old man as one of the cornerstones of this team...

And what Speights has done already, to change the losing culture and attitude of this Titanic-like club, is more than obvious yet beyond measurable statistics.

Another nice overall game guys! It wasn't always pretty but a decisive win over a team we were suppose to beat.

Orlando's big Vuric? Had a really nice game. He owned us (mostly Zeller, but he got other guys too).

Big game tonight.

Big game tonight.

Yes it was -- for Denver. They won that game in the closing minutes of the second period. They are the highest-scoring team in the third period, so we couldn't let them make that spurt right before half. But we did and that dug a hole we couldn't get out of.

Craaaaap! That would have been a nice win over the Spurs going into the break. Zeller showed up tonight.

Yep. That hurt. Zeller showed up by Kyrie disappeared in the 4th -- when he usually excels. Too many missed shots, including the last one. Maybe the ankle is still bothering him?

I am guessing it was the ankle. He rolled it pretty badly last game.

FWIW the Spurs were probably looking past the Cavs, but we still played them tough and should have won as a team without Kyrie at full capacity to score. That would have been sweet...

They have really been clicking most nights the last few weeks. Dion and Kyrie seem to be on the same page. Gee is putting up some offensive numbers again. I can't say enough about Speights and Livingston off the bench. It's been painful at times to watch Zeller get pushed around but last night showed that it's making him better and he gets it.

I am also concerned that Kyrie is hurt worse than he is letting on.  If his ankle "flares up" after the All-Star weekend, then I will have to smdh.  When he rolled his ankle, I immediately thought what was probably the first thing to go through his mind..... that he was going to miss his first All-Star game.

Dion has been playing great as of late.  His numbers haven't jumped, but his %'s have.  He is taking better, smarter shots.  He still needs to quit ticking off the refs...... I know he isn't getting all the calls he should, but pissing and moaning like he does is akin to picking a scab.  He needs to accept that, as a rookie, he won't get half of the calls he deserves.

Agreed. That was the most I have seen of the Cavs in national coverage in two years (minus coverage of the losing streak). They also have a national game on Wednesday night coming out of All-star weekend. I think we've finally found Kyrie Irving and he's out from under the cushions of the RV.

Side note, LeBron was really really really happy and jumped out of his seat during the finals of the 3 point contest when Kyrie was stroking almost every single shot.

Cavaliers to submit proposal to host all-star game in 2016 or 2017

Jason Lloyd of the Akron Beacon Journal is reporting the Cavaliers will submit a proposal to bring the 2016 or 2017 NBA All-Star game to Cleveland.

Last week NBA Deputy Commissioner, Adam Silver, was in Cleveland exploring the possibility of bringing the NBA’s biggest and brightest stars to Northeast Ohio.

The youtube link to the 3-point contest isn't working. Here's a different one......

That's a big deal- I'm hoping that the city by 2016 will have enough hotel rooms for the event.

Forgive me for not tracking the numbers closely on the many lists on this site, but I would guess we would have to have quite a few more rooms than the last time the game played here in the 90's?

Maybe the casino crowd are hogging the previously available rooms?

it says the event has "grown considerably" since we last hosted it so my guess is the NBA demands a higher number of rooms than last time.

That's a very real issue.

Just throwing this out there:  I think the Cavs will win the draft lottery and select Anthony Bennett.

(Man, I wish I could backdate posts!)

So this guy bumped into Andrew Bynum at the Atlanta airport last night and took this photo to prove it. He says Bynum told him he's going to Cleveland. FWIW....

Part of me gets really excited at the notion of bringing in Bynum.  And part of me is very worried about it.  If he can stay healthy and get to at least 85-90% of what he was, the Cavaliers could be a pretty darn good team.

Let's say they sign him to that two year deal and he misses most of the season due to injury this year with little hope for coming back strong in 2014-2015.  Can they amnesty him next offseason to clear space to sign a big name free agent?

Haven't seen that much of Bynum. But what I did see, he acts like a punk on the court. I don't want this guy. Heck I'd rather have Greg Oden.

ESPN News was already showing photo mash ups of Lebron and Bynum in Cleveland this morning.  Bynum hasn't signed anywhere and they already have LeBron moving home to join him (not that I would mind).

ESPN is ridiculous.  Two weeks ago after Miami won the NBA title, ESPN had a projected 2014-2015 Cavaliers starting lineup (their exact wording) that list James as starting SF.

The latest I've heard is that the Cavs offer is two yrs at 12mill per.  However, only 6mill is guaranteed in the first yr and the second year is a team option.  To earn the full 12mill in yr one, he would basically have to play as he did two years ago.  It's very heavy in incentives and it's still the most money on the table for him.  I'm mixed on this.  I don't really care for the guy but he is undeniably a very rare and proven commodity.

They're definitely taking the right approach with that type of contract. It's hard to give money to a guy who just missed the entire season, but if he's healthy he's a top-3 quality center, which is worth its weight in gold.

ESPN reporting Bynum will sign with Cavs.

he signed 2yrs 24 mil.  second year is a team option and he is only guaranteed six million.  good deal, I think.  little risk for such a risky player

And it sounds like Mike Brown is the reason why Bynum came here. Brown is one of the few coaches Bynum respects and will listen to. I think Bynum wanted to come here for that reason, even before he went to Atlanta and Dallas to hear what they had to say. They had to offer a lot more than Cleveland did. And they didn't.

Great move by Cavs.  Low risk, high (potential) rewards.  Hopefully, as you note, Bynum came here because of Brown and that he'll be motivated to play under Mike as well.

I'm sure it was in Bynum's best interest, but I do like that he kept his meetings with all three teams before making his decision.

Everyone says there's low risk. That is until he actually is officially hurt, and the morning jackoffs at 92.3, Rizzo, and the PD rile all the Cleveland pinheads up about him actually sitting around in a suit all year. I don't buy that the "well they knew this was a risk going in" conversation becomes the story that is pushed and bought by the aforementioned morons.

I get your point (I think), but it's low risk because they had to spend that money anyways.  The new CBA requires each team to spend 90% of the cap limit and this signing brings us over that threshhold.  In fact, it might allow us to rightfully stay under the 90% minimum because it is his max salary with incentives that goes into the calculation.  So if they didn't sign Bynum, they would've had to sign some other FA (or two) and pretty much anyone of value has already been signed to another team.

I know AK47 was on their radar, but he signed with the Nets.  Considering he left $10mill in Minny to sign for $3mill in BK, the NBA is going to put a probe up the anus of that deal.  Methinks there will be some dirty russian money found in that deal

Even if he doesn't play a single minute, this is a good signing.  look at process over results.  Spending six million on a risk, given the potential ceiling of bynum, is a great move.  If he doesn't play a minute, we got him for one year, six mil and its not like we took him over somebody else, given that the cavs were so far under the cap.

Have you seen Dion playing in summer league?  He looks at least 15lbs - 20lbs lighter than last year.

There's still a fat boy inside there yearning to get out.....

Kyrie DOMINATED the Team USA select squad scrimmage last night.  The select squad is made up of approx. 26 players under 25 years old who are being considered for future Team USA rosters.  Kyrie is considered to be the only "lock" to make the team for the World Championships next year.

Dion and Zeller were also invited to participate this week.  Dion played well enough all week in practice to be chosen as a starter for his team in the scrimmage..... but then didn't shoot the ball very well in the actual game.  Zeller had a decent showing.... nothing spectacular, as we've come to expect.

this morning a co-worker of mine showed me his cell phone video of a pickup game in a bronx gym with him and kyrie and kyrie's father playing. kyrie was torching those guys, they were all sweaty and slow and he was fine lol! this was from about three weeks ago.

There's still a fat boy inside there yearning to get out.....

My main worry (which became a wish when he turned traitor) about LeBron is once he won, he'd go all Buster Douglas.

Nah.... him and DWade are absolute divas when it comes to their bodies.  In fact, I saw something a few weeks ago alleging some connection with the biogenesis lab

Camp opens next week.  A quick injury status update:

-Bennett is full go, 100%.  He has been playing 5-on-5 and is approaching his 'ideal' playing weight (248, so he says)

-Andy is about 70%.  The biggest issue for him is getting back his conditioning.  The injury set him back, as well as the new wife and honeymoon I'm sure.

-Bynum is starting to run on a treadmill.  The Cavs are not providing a timetable (probably a smart move).  It looks as if a December return to the court (limited or not) would be the most optimistic prediction.

-Kyrie is supposedly in the best shape of his career, which will hopefully help him withstand the grind of an NBA season for once.

Dan Gilbert just loss a lot of that goodwill that's made him the "best" owner  today by the tribe making the playoffs and Browns being a competent team with a great defense....

Your move, Mr. Gilbert, your move....

He'll make up for it when Lebron comes back in 14.

Well that would be the obvious move...
