The tip top of Tower City looks great!

^I'm also really impressed with the work that has been done on Terminal Tower thus far... can't wait to get rid of all the scaffolding!

Great pics. Your pics are always the most clear and vibrant looking on the forum - I guess it's the Adobe skills. Incredible composition for someone with limited options in a traffic jam LOL

Thank God you weren't driving.

Thanks again MayDay. You really do have skills, and your efforts are appreciated.

That last pick of TT looks like a good fit for the TT thread over at SSP.com, if of course you find the time.

Thanks everyone. :-)

I have something of a photographic memory, so my M.O. is to use the camera to capture what I see, and then Photoshop what the camera captures to match with what I saw, if that makes sense. There's a delicate balance, especially when it comes to correcting perspective and color, sharpening, etc. Plus I have to be aware of my camera's shortcomings - it's only a point-and-shoot, so the color is rarely accurate at first blush.

Here's the image right off the memory card (shrunk to fit the forum):

A little perspective and color correction, one hit on sharpen, and voila. This is much closer to what I saw that day:

when in the hell was there traffic on that bridge?!  Do you mean gridlock from W.20 to Ontario?!

Point and shoot or not, your composition skills are extraordinary.

Thanks everyone. :-)

Nice. I've used all of those features before but I never thought about comparing what it looked like in person vs. how the pic turned out. I think most people approach it the opposite way and end up making the photo look too rich in color or use too much contrast which I think can be nice sometimes but it also gets rid of subtle details. Your "after" pics definitely look more realistic than most. I guess that's what I was getting at.

I'm not even good at recognizing faces, let alone having a photographic memory to correct my photos properly (and no, Cincinnatus I'm not a pothead ;) )

Amazing photos as usual, Mayday.  You do have an interesting way of editing, I'm going to have to think about that more when I shoot.  You are very lucky to have that kind of scenery while stuck in traffic.  If it weren't for time constraints, impatient people and deadlines, I would love to be stuck in traffic everyday in that city.

You do realize you're probably the only person in ANY city who would say that...lol

Did you see the first part of that sentence??  lol

I really don't mind being stuck in traffic anyway.  If I'm stuck, I'm stuck.  There isn't anything I can do about it, so I don't get upset.  Plus it gives me more time to listen to my tunes. :banger:

Yeah I did, but at 2 in the morning :)

oops

Haha yeah I understand.

Magnificent, Shawn!

Wouldn't you just hate to get stuck in traffic on that towering overpass where the highway (Is it the Shoreway?) flies over the Flats?

i love that shot although it reminds me that justice would be better served if the butt ugly justice center was torn down.

You dislike Fortress Cleveland?

If I could implode one building in Cleveland I'd have to flip a coin to choose between the Justice Center and Rhodes Tower at CSU...

Ohio has traffic?

^You mean the Main Avenue Bridge ...

Yeah! That's the name I was trying to think of. Man, how I'd hate to get stranded up there for about fifteen minutes with a camera!

Is it me, or is the American flag flying at half staff?

^ I would assume it is in honor of Rep. Stephanie Tubbs Jones.

Beautiful set Mayday!

^yes. Also MayDAy thanks for that before that "before and after" example.  Snazzy pics once again.

Nice

Good God ... what an ugly-a$$ building ...

You can thank Filth-Turd for the lovely signage:

I don't mind the Fifth Third building at all... or it's signage for that matter.  I quite like the look of it at night.  It's the that Key Bank building across the street that deserves the wrecking ball imo.

  • 1 month later...

Love the close up of the Terminal Tower!  Wow!

Love the shot of Progressive Field's light towers.
