Posted August 31, 200816 yr Well, folks, what is it? FYI, the Short North is NOT a neighborhood, it's a part of the Victorian and Italian Villages. Let's not go the "downtown" route either (talking to YOU Columbusite with your precious Town Franklin!). So basically everything outside of the downtown loop (though I know part of Franklinton is inside the loop...but whatever). Bah, enough! Vote! August 31, 200816 yr I'm going with German Village basically because it's so unique. I've never seen any neighborhood like it. I love the orange brick, landscaping, Schiller Park, and various retail and restaurants mixed into the residential. Big success story of a neighborhood that technically wasn't even ''planned'' all that well.
August 31, 200816 yr I'll go with Olde Town East/Near East/Franklin Park as they haven't seen the same appreciation or investment that my favorite westside neighborhoods (Victorian Village, Italian Village, and Harrison West) have experienced.
August 31, 200816 yr Trust me, VV and IV are not the west side! I can see why you like OTE so much, though. There's so much potential in OTE.

Just an FYI, VicVill, Italian Vil, and Harrison West are "northside," not westside. August 31, 200816 yr I guess they are geographically, but I've always been more prone to think of them as west with Dennison Place/University transitioning into the north. I certainly shouldn't be thinking west for Italian Village, though, since it is east of High.
August 31, 200816 yr I voted for German Village. Slight edge over Victorian Village and Italian Village (they're great too!). BTW, I assumed this was a "cost doesn't matter" type vote. If "cost did matter" I'd go with Grandview. Although technically Grandview isn't a columbus neighborhood, it's a separate municipality. Eh whatever!

August 31, 200816 yr ^ i can second that, although according to wiki it's not official (i'd disagree). i lived on elmwood in the grandview columbus neighborhood. the house next door to our apt was in upper arlington. here's a short article about improvements going on around there: http://www.dispatch.com/live/content/local_news/stories/2007/12/24/FIFTHPLAN.ART_ART_12-24-07_B1_Q88S9RR.html
August 31, 200816 yr German Village is my favorite neighborhood in the entire state of Ohio. Fantastic place.
September 1, 200816 yr Italian Village. Since this whole "Short North isn't a neigborhood" thing, I had to go with the hood that most encapsulates the Short North, seeing as how that is what separates C-Bus from other Ohio and Midwest cities. German Village is pretty, but Short North has more character, because of its more diverse nature, IMO. Although yes, parts of it is yuppified...I know. German Village is my favorite neighborhood in the entire state of Ohio. Fantastic place. *gasp* I am shocked.
September 2, 200816 yr ^ lol, me too. But where is "Hungarian Village"? I didnt know Cols had Hungarians? For the vote ...eh....German Village just becuase its so old and those little brick alley streets with houses. Reallly different looking.

September 3, 200816 yr Is that really "Hungarian Village"? LOL! I never knew. I always thought of it as a southside Franklinton or where people in Grove City used to live.
September 3, 200816 yr Gotta go with my old stomping grounds of Victorian Village. Love Goodale Park, the housing stock, and the proximity to the Arena District, Campus, and Short North.
September 3, 200816 yr I am going with German Village, we lived on the the south side of GV on Jaeger right around the corner from the Thurman. Something about the little brick houses and all of the alleys. I also spent a lot of time in Victorian Village and Grandview and like both of them alot. Has Olde Town East picked up at all in the last 5 or 6 years? My wife and I were poking around looking at houses there before we moved back to Cleveland. I love the conservatory and the park there.
September 4, 200816 yr That's a suburb ;). "You don't just walk into a bar and mix it up by calling a girl fat" - buildingcincinnati speaking about new forumers
September 6, 200816 yr Harrison West is small, but makes up for it with quality offerings on 3rd Ave. Peach District is a close 2nd.
September 8, 200816 yr Despite the popularity of German Village, I went with Harrison West, for many of the same reasons posted by Columbusite.
September 9, 200816 yr I'll probably be the one and only person to pick The KLD, but I have to since I live there. ;) It's slowly coming along. Will be really nice in another 10 years. :D

September 14, 200816 yr I'm kinda surprised that the University District (which includes Dennison Place and I'm assuming Old North Columbus is being considered a part of it for this poll) didn't get many votes considering how dense and walkable it is. Looks like even the Brewery District and Grandview are getting no love.I would have thought someone here would vote for Grandview.
September 15, 200816 yr Well, Grandview is technically a city, not a neighborhood. Maybe that's why nobody is voting for it.
September 15, 200816 yr Not necessarily. The area of Columbus around Grandview Heights is locally called "Grandview." "You don't just walk into a bar and mix it up by calling a girl fat" - buildingcincinnati speaking about new forumers
