On the other hand... and David, don't be a PITA.

Oh I see (and I can figure out PITA - definitely not a sandwich)

Stupid Questions.

And before anyone tries to say "there is no such thing as a stupid question...", believe me, there is such a thing. If someone has already explained something, but you didn't bother to pay attention and then ask about it a few minutes (or a few posts later when it happens on UO) it is a stupid question and I feel I should have the right to mock you for it.

Amen, amen, glory hallelujah amen to that!!!

Has anyone brought this up? Probably.

I'm so sick of stepping in dog sh1t! People in my neighborhood need to clean up after their pets. I didn't realize I did it today until I stepped inside the house. 'Landmines' are all over the place where I live, especially by the park.

Stay off the grass!  That's what sidewalks are for!!

You're from Green Township or Delhi or some place like that and you're lecturing me about sidewalks?!  :-o

Grass can be a MUCH quicker route, where I stay.

Actually on my street, the sidewalks end where they reach my yard!  I make sure the dogs go right there to keep people like you off my grass!

Wouldn't want you to have to go get your shotgun and Korean War pants.

Unfortunately, I've seen landmines on the sidewalk.  Yuck!

Why is it that some people "live" somewhere, and some people "stay" somewhere?

^  ?

I was just wondering because of David's choice of wording:

Grass can be a MUCH quicker route, where I stay.

I would have said, "...where I live", and I've heard other people say "I stay...".  You might say "I live (stay) downtown".  I was just curious.

^ After reviewing a few prior posts, now I get it.  I personally say "live" when I talk about my residence.  If someone says "stay," I assume they are at their location temporarily.

Has anyone brought this up? Probably.

My house is the last one between a city park and the neighborhood, and I'm right on the rivergreenway. Some people cut across my yard with their dogs, and other dog-walkers just let their dogs crap in my yard and don't pick it up. After I mow the grass I don't realize it's on my shoes until I come inside or get in my car.

The neighborhood association has these cute little green engraved signs admonishing people to "Please Pick Up After Your Pet." A lot of good that does. I saw a sign once that I want to copy and put in my yard. It was shaped like a tombstone and the epitaph said:

"Here he lies

all cold and hard

The last damned dog

that crapped in my yard!"

Then, I'm going to buy some fatigue pants at GI Joe's Army Surplus on Wells Street and make a dummy shotgun and sit on my steps and scowl  :x at everyone who walks past with a dog.

I've never said I "stay" anywhere unless I'm on vacation/in a hotel.  e.g. When in Scottsdale, I like to stay at the Phoenician.

Yes, a temporary situation.  Maybe it is cultural.

The last apartment complex I lived in had a $50 credit for reporting people that didn't pick up after their dogs, the problem was resolved within six months after that was initiated.  I was temporarily unemployed around that time .

For as many times as I have moved, I should say "stay" instead of "live".

(a) Landmines- Late this fall I found one in my back yard. Problem is I don't own a dog. I'm considering leaving baker's chocolate diced up like dog food in a bowl by the garage just in case.

(b) Stay/Live - as explained by the black ladies where I work, stay comes from living in section 8 houses and moving every six months or year, and generally not caring about upkeep. It's not really a place where you live, just somewhere you are staying for a while.

I think someone saying "stay" is definitely indicative of an unstable housing situation and lack of connection to that housing and neighborhood.

My favorite story is my next door neighbor was working in her living room and saw a pair of well heeled people and their expensive dog in her front yard. The dog was pooping and one of the couple bagged it and dropped the bag back in my neighbor's front yard! My neighbor ran out of her house, picked up the bag and went running after the hipster couple yelling,"Hey, you dropped something. It belongs to you!" They tried to deny it but ended up taking their bag with them. Good for her.

Uggh, Snow has melted time for me to go in the backyard and clean up the landmines. At least it's still frozen.

"Landmine

Has taken my sight

taken my speech

taken my hearing

taken my arms

taken my legs

taken my soul

left me with life in heellllllllllllll!"

I always wondered what they were saying.  Great song.

Which brings me to a pet peeve I recently developed...Metallica in concert. Do you really have to do the "we say 'Seek and..', you say 'seek and destroy' " singalong? Still? You were doing it 15 years ago. I think we get it.

I know...probably not a widely sharted peeve. Nuts to you!

...when the often hillarious off topic thread is locked!  :whip:

When every I go away, you kids misbehave!

^When is it locked??  I never see it locked.

Did you bother to look?  Do you think I typed that for my health?

You kids are suppose to be our future....  Lawd!

Yeah I did bother to look. And no, I don't think you typed it for your health. And yep, we are your future so get used to it!

Now I see it locked. Didn't notice the little lock button, so I'm sorry for causing you any anguish...

Pet Peeve: MTS jumping all over me when I ask a simple question.... I'm used to it but it's still annoying.

I wonder why its locked?

^Haha.  Sorry, should have known better.

So why is it locked?

Well before MTS jumps all over you for not looking at it and validating your question, I don't think it is locked anymore.

Fixed that for you ;)

I'm sorry if this offends anyone who thinks this way, but on another board I'm on (all Moms, and all local), nobody is giving anything to Haiti because "we need to take care of Americans, there are so many people unemployed here," etc etc.  It's FINE if you don't want to donate to Haiti relief efforts, everyone can choose to support whatever causes they want to (or not), but people, seriously, get some PERSPECTIVE. The average income there is less than three hundred f*cking dollars a YEAR.  The unemployment rate is 50%.  23% of children have HIV or AIDS.  And Americans are "suffering?"  COME ON!!!!

RNR you're correct, some folks need to put the larger picture in perspective.

These kinds of comments are the reason I have very, very few local friends.  I can't stand people who live in a bubble, and who have no idea what the real world is really like.  You bought too much f*cking house and 3 cars and a boat or a camper and iPods and wii for the kiddies and now your bloated ass is paying for it, TOO BAD, SO SAD.

RNR's pressure is up yall!  LOL

You said it!  My Irish is up, and my Greek, and you never want them both to be up at the same time.

Oh Honey I understand.  You don't want to see me "get rican"!!  When I start speaking Spanish...that's your cue to get away....very, very far away.  Just ask my soon to be future x skank-in-law!

Have you ever had the Freakin' 'Rican?  It's a special periodically at Teahouse Noodles.  The name always cracks me up.

LOL  No, I may have to check that out.

trust me, the people who make comments like this don't donate to charities that help Americans either! I love it when people invoke the infamous "charity begins at home" line. Huh? wtf is that supposed to mean anyway?? It's usually a pat answer to justify why they can't/won't give to some cause like Haiti.

Like I said, if they don't want to give, that's fine, but WHINING about how "bad" we have it here, I just want to post that BITCH SLAP picture of MTS's, but that would probably get me banned from the site, they don't have much of a sense of humor over there.

I'm fine with charity beginning at home so long as it actually happens.  Usually that's just an excuse to do nothing for anyone.

I do agree that people are clueless if they are whining about how bad they have it here when talking about Haiti.  However, it is hard, if not impossible, to know how if and how much individuals donate to other organizations.  Many people I know don't publicly announce what charities they donate to and how much they give.  I don't ask people what and who they give to because it's none of my business.  I'm sure there are lots of people making the comment about "charity beginning at home" as a way to not donate anything, but it's really hard to know for sure.

Good point, I didn't mean to discount the "charity beginning at home" crowd.  That said, Americans are the most giving people in the world: both privately and governmentally.
