April 14, 201015 yr Those lows are too low for me jam4jeff. I wouldn't want to live anywhere where it regularly gets down below like 45 or 40 at the lowest.
April 14, 201015 yr Here's one that warmer in the summer but not too hot: Jan 33°F 19°F 26°F Feb 36°F 21°F 29°F Mar 46°F 29°F 38°F Apr 57°F 38°F 48°F May 69°F 48°F 59°F Jun 77°F 58°F 68°F Jul 81°F 62°F 72°F Aug 79°F 61°F 70°F Sep 72°F 54°F 63°F Oct 61°F 44°F 52°F Nov 49°F 35°F 42°F Dec 37°F 25°F 31°F looks perfect to me! I love the weather here. My only complaint is that once it hits winter, it would stay below freezing until we're ready for spring and then not retrun to below freezing until next winter.
April 14, 201015 yr J40J. My first guess would be Cleveland. Actually Middleburg Heights, but close enough. ;)
April 14, 201015 yr If we could just get rid of Nov, Dec, Jan and Feb I'd love it. I should have a winter house somewhere else, clearly. But since I don't even have a house here, that's probably not going to happen.
April 14, 201015 yr I love the snow around Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years. It starts to get old in January, and by February I'm sick of it. If I had a winter home, it's be in Savannah and I'd live there in February and maybe March as well.

If I had a winter home, it's be in Savannah and I'd live there in February and maybe March as well. My grand parents return to PR, right after Thanksgiving. Come back for Xmas/NY, then return to PR until April. My grand father hates the snow.
April 15, 201015 yr Is it really too much to go 5 minutes without talking on the phone? I just got back from Chipotle, and the woman in front of me talked almost the entire time her burrito was made. The person making it even made a "mistake," but I blame it on the customer for not paying attention. It held up the constantly growing line. I hate when I see someone checking out or ordering food while talking on the phone. I think it's rude to both the employee and the person on the other end of the conversation. If a conversation is that important, then step out of line and let others ahead of you. However, I can't think of many times that can't wait 5 minutes.
April 15, 201015 yr The only time I answer the phone when I'm in the middle of something like that is if it's the daycare calling. Some people just feel they need to perpetually be entertained. You think it's bad at Chipotle where you are with a customer for 30 seconds, try waiting on someone for an hour who is shopping for a registry gift while on the phone. It's a lot of fun.
April 15, 201015 yr That's like when people at the self checkout at Giant Eagle are talking on the phone, or worse letting their kids scan the groceries when there's a huge line.
April 15, 201015 yr I've seen some business with a "we will help you when you put away your phone" sign. It SHOULD be common sense, but I guess the coffee cups say they are hot as well...
April 15, 201015 yr Yeah, and the walking escalator at the airport has to have signs that it's moving as well. How dumb are people?
April 15, 201015 yr Rather dumb. Today's peeve: People who don't seem to realize that the 5,000 watt lighthouse garage light shouldn't be left on all hours of the day. If you're out running errands late in the day or are out at a bar I understand. When the light is on at 9 am when I wake up, you're missing something somewhere.
April 15, 201015 yr I've seen some business with a "we will help you when you put away your phone" sign. It SHOULD be common sense, but I guess the coffee cups say they are hot as well... This is why I rarely answer the phone. I think, that and texting are the worse. I know there are times when a text is necessary, but sometimes people, disconnect from the network!
April 15, 201015 yr pretty darn close. Would like to see it a little hotter in the summer but I could definitely live with that! Where is it? How about Eugene, Oregon? High Low Jan 46°F 33°F Feb 51°F 35°F Mar 56°F 37°F Apr 61°F 39°F May 67°F 43°F Jun 74°F 48°F Jul 82°F 51°F Aug 82°F 51°F Sep 77°F 47°F Oct 64°F 42°F Nov 53°F 38°F Dec 47°F 35°F Not only is the weather just about perfect, but this city is gorgeous and only two hours from Portland. The only downside is that it rains all winter. But if you go east of the Cascade mountain range, winter is there in all it's glory.
April 15, 201015 yr Honestly, I'd rather have just mildly cold with no precipitation at all. You know, sweater and crock pot weather, but not dealing with the elements.
April 15, 201015 yr New pet peeve: people who reply to posts on websites about someone who has passed away as though the person is going to read the post. "Goodbye so-and-so, you will be missed. your humor was one of a kind." "Guess we'll never have that beer together now," etc. THEY'RE DEAD, THEY'RE NOT READING YOUR POSTS!
April 15, 201015 yr Low brow Westsiders who think their social and cultural status in life is equal to those of us on the Eastside. I guess those little people can dream.

"Goodbye so-and-so, you will be missed. your humor was one of a kind." "Guess we'll never have that beer together now," etc. THEY'RE DEAD, THEY'RE NOT READING YOUR POSTS! I dunno about that. All too often we see posts from Hell on the forums.
April 16, 201015 yr I imagine the afterlife is a lot like UO- heaven is a neverending photothread from one of our many talented photographers, hell a neverending rant from one of our resident cranks.
April 16, 201015 yr I KNOW you're not talking about me! No...I'm talking about the "gardener". Watch out Avogadro. I think MTS is developing some kind of fantasy with you starring as the "gardener".... better that than the pool boy I suppose.
April 16, 201015 yr OMG someone just sent me this blog post about one of my biggest pet peeves - when people use "alot." I am CRYING I am laughing so hard! http://hyperboleandahalf.blogspot.com/2010/04/alot-is-better-than-you-at-everything.html

April 16, 201015 yr Nah... I think he just enjoys imagining you working in the dirt with a straw hat, cut off jean shorts and kneepads.

April 16, 201015 yr My inner grammar nazi thoroughly enjoyed it! (or should I say I enjoyed that alot!)
April 21, 201015 yr When my "Administrative Professional" forgets to put "Administrative Professional's Day" on the weekly calendar :whip:
April 21, 201015 yr JMO but isn't that a little like putting your birthday on someone else's calendar? I think on that one, the onus is on the boss to remember.
April 22, 201015 yr I know why people die in fires. It's because their smoke detectors decide that the batteries are low and start chirping a warning 10 minutes before their alarms are supposed to go off. People don't want to go through the hassle of going downstairs, getting a freakin' ladder and a 9V battery and coming up to replace it. So, instead they just bash it to **** with a baseball bat. at least, that's my current fantasy.
April 22, 201015 yr When my "Administrative Professional" forgets to put "Administrative Professional's Day" on the weekly calendar :whip: Pet Peeve #243 When is "IT PERSON DAY"? We have Bosses day. We have secretaries day. We have administrative professionals day. Well the IT Manager here (me) is not a boss (only IT employee) and I want to know: WHEN IS MY DAY!?!?!?! ;) (PS Loved the ALOT blog post)

April 23, 201015 yr When my "Administrative Professional" forgets to put "Administrative Professional's Day" on the weekly calendar :whip: LOL. Thing No. 1 & 2 made sure it was on mine. Had all kinds of "stuff" schedule for themselves.
April 23, 201015 yr Today I encountered a stupid group of people that decided to take up the entire bike path. They had their backs to me and were occupying the soutbound jogging lane, southbound bike lane and both northbound lanes. I squeezed through a gap between them right on the center line at about 10 mph and scared the crap out of them. It's amazing that even with posted signs and bold paintings on the ground, they don't understand shuffling along a major transportation route.

It's amazing that even with posted signs and bold paintings on the ground, they don't understand shuffling along a major transportation route. You should get one of those really loud compressed-gas boat horns. That might scare them so badly they'd soil themselves. We get those groups quite often, and many are families that load their bikes on their SUV on Sunday afternoon and come in from the rural-splendor subdivisions to ride the greenway. Suburban families become so insular from cocooning themselves in their 4,000 square feet on 4 acres that would be better used if it were still farmland, that they haven't a clue that other people live and move in the world outside. You'll get Mom on one side of the path and Dad on the other, with a six-year-old looping back and forth between them, and all oblivious to anyone approaching from behind. They'll decide to take a break to sit in the grass, eat lunch, look at the river, and leave their bikes on kickstands on the pavement, again oblivious to other riders. One balmy summer afternoon, riding my big ol' 35-pound Raleigh 3-speed with the 28-inch wheels, around a curve I suddenly came upon a cluster of five or six bikes on kickstands blocking the path. In swerving to avoid colliding with the bikes, I extended one foot to help keep my balance. I inadvertently struck one of the bikes, and they all fell over.
April 26, 201015 yr ^inre kicking the bikes over...isn't that criminal damaging? two wrongs don't make a right
April 26, 201015 yr do you really think knocking a bike over is going to cause damage? it's doubtful that that group would have highly tuned racing bicycles or anything. sometimes the only way to teach a lesson is with a little pain.
April 26, 201015 yr ^inre kicking the bikes over...isn't that criminal damaging? two wrongs don't make a right Heavens, No! Far be it from me to ever do anything with malicious intent. I should have explained more clearly that in swerving to avoid colliding with the bikes, I extended one foot to help keep my balance. I inadvertently struck one of the bikes, and they all fell over. They should be glad I didn't fall and become injured because of where they parked their bikes; I'm sure they would have felt terrible. I hope they learned to be more thoughtful after that.
April 26, 201015 yr The expressions "hater" or to "hate on". If you're over 15, don't ever use them. Especially not if you want to be taken seriously.
April 26, 201015 yr But they could potentiality be damaged by kicking them over like dominoes. no? what if they had something of value in a carrier? If there is a continual issue with bike parkers, isn't the more prudent thing to do is educate or contact the park authority in charge of the recreation path?
