An f'ing woodpecker is going to town on a part of my house up near the roof.  Either he is trying to create a home or their is somekind of infestation (ants, bees, termites) up there which he is trying to eat.  Either way, I hate pests.  This crap will easily cost me a couple hundred in extermination and then repairs.... just like the idiot squirell that fell down my chimney last year right around this time.

I had a raccoon that found a section of the fascia board that rotted, chewed a hole and started cavorting in my crawl space for a period of time. I had someone come out and repair the hole, and hadn't heard anything afterward....until the spring, when I realized the F-er had hibernated in there. Then chewed a hole on the opposite side of the house to get out.

I finally went up there to find out the situation...and oh, there was poop.

Ewwww

That sucks.  For future reference, the guy should have plugged the whole with one of those devices that let's the animal out but won't let it back in.

I get birds in my attic every summer, and somehow at least one gets stuck and dies each year. Fortunately sparrows are small enough that they don't smell too bad if I don't find them for a while.

Winter!  Ugh i'm so pale right now!  I've lost all my color from summer!  :x

Winter? After all this rain I'm excited about winter. I'd rather have snow than more damn rain.

Not.....rain doesn't collect up on the roads and cause problems well after it's over.

It's better to have birds in your attic than to have bats in the belfry. :-D

Yeah but snow is more fun to play in.

For the third or maybe fourth time this year, my mom's street has been flooded in... this video was taken in spring by her hillbilly neighbor down the block.

^I'd suggest moving.

FOR REAL.  Look at those houses!

People who cannot play competitive sports at the level in which they are signed up for.  If I hit you with a ball, either, learn to receive it or get the f--k off the court!

People that use photos of a scaffolding clad Terminal Tower in their new work.

^ LOL!!!!!

That's not fair... That building was covered in scaffolding for eternity.

-----------------------------------------------

Today I was walking to the food court in the basement of Chase Tower.  They have extra wide concourses, yet groups of people always seem to walk side by side....very slowly.....taking up nearly the whole width.  I realize this has been discussed before, but here's part 2.

Just as the hallway opens up into the large food court area, they diffuse just as you began to go around them.  And no matter which way you try to go, they are still in front of you.  MOVE IT!!!

^ Lollygaggers!  :x

And yet if you used a baton to take them out at the knees, YOU would be the bad guy. What kind of crazy mixed up world do we live in?

People who fight during sporting events.  Unsportsman like conduct is whack.

I had a game last night and my team shit talks a lot, but we can back it us on the court.  Some dude, came across the court, under the net like Ben Wallace, circa '04, and tried to tackle on of our players.

I've never seen anything like that on a volleyball court. Unfortunately, when you're 5'10", you shouldn't walk up on someone 6'5".  My teammate knocked the dude out like Artest knocked out that fan.

People who insist on holding conversations or otherwise loitering while standing in doorways or other chokepoints.

Which is exactly why it's not fair that I have to be reminded of that fact every time I read a new report, see a presentation, an advertisement, etc.  I was at a presentation this week and one of the slides had an offending photo.  I have no idea what that slide was about because I was so distracted by the scaffolding.

"Dammit why do I have to look at that ... I wonder when this guy put this presentation together ... images of a scaffolding clad TT are going to haunt me for the rest of my life aren't they. ... It's like the family photos of someone who got a really necessary nose job, they just never go away ...  If I were an eccentric millionaire I'd fund the purging of the photo and video evidence of the scaffolding ... first stop Plain Dealer stock photo database" etc etc etc

ahahaha, but it looks better in pictures that way.

Speak truth to power

Zero sum game

When you're drinking coffee and find out the beans didn't grind well.

I'm sick and tired of teenagers in public places using their android phones as a boom-box. That's obnoxious. In line at the grocery store, on the bus, etc. It's everywhere.

The horror!  We do not agree on much, but in this instance, I feel your pain.

Ineptly or cowardly-administered Facebook based commenting on Cincinnati.com.

Their old forum software ("Plesk?" Something like that) on Cincinnati.com was censored heavily. I'd always post something, it would show, and I'd come back an hour later and it would say "User has been blocked by Cincinnnati.com editorial staff" and the like. I would think they'd just delete the account so I get the message when I try to log in, but that would have been smart.

So they replaced all of the news story commenting with Facebook comments.

I posted to a local (neighborhood level) interest story the other day, and then visited the story later. At the time I posted earlier there were about five interesting comments, not including mine.

ALL gone when I checked back.

Screw that site. I'd boycott it if it were possible. It's not that I don't think any site has the right to moderate postings, it's the stupidly sweeping meat axe they take to valid content.

And being a newspaper, it should allow citizens a voice where offered without arbitrary censorship - as a sort of civic duty relating to their role.

I'm shocked, stunned...that I don't see more of this in Chicago but I bet I will sooner or later.

I missed this earlier ... I won't call this a pet peeve, but this is definitely something I wish more restaurants would do.  On second thought, maybe it actually is a pet peeve, because I can recall several instances where I did not order a burger precisely because I knew that the lower bun would fall apart quickly.

I'm ordering my new HTC Rezound today or tomorrow.  I'll keep you in mind. 8-)

So just turn it over already, and eat it that way. You probably won't be arrested for it, and your stomach won't know the difference.

Because wilted, warm lettuce is better... At my work the burger is served open face with the top bun, lettuce, onion, and tomato on the side. It also makes it easier to leave off what you don't want. I've yet to have someone complain about the bun getting soggy.

I really can't stand people celebrating anti-Valentines Day parties and never shutting up about it.  It may have started off as somewhat clever, but now these parties are just so cliche and unoriginal - ooo,  you hate Valentines Day. How brave!

Hell, half the time these events are just dating mixers and 90% of the time the guests are just jealous of those having a nice Valentines Day. They're not fooling anyone.

At least it's not like India where the Hindu nutbars attack people for celebrating it....

I was reminded of another one of my pet peeves this morning: The fact that the word "sanction" can be used to mean "approve" or "punish."  Seriously, how does that work?

P.S. Lettuce holds up much better than most sandwich buns.

If you're eating the super cheap, untoasted white bread ones sure.

People who say "I seen" instead of "I saw." Though I have a degree in English literature and linguistics, I tend to let a lot of grammar "mistakes" slide. Oy, but that one drives me crazy!

What if they are talking about a saw or the movie Saw? "Have you seen Saw?" "I saw Saw when it came out." "That was a particlarly gory Saw scene."

"I saw the saw sitting over there." "Seen the saw?"

I have a habit of judging everyone's intelligence and level of education based on their diction. Needless to say, I don't think highly of a lot of people. Though, I suppose the other extreme is almost as irritating. I started a thread about energy drinks that devolved into nothing but a debate (and full-blown research study on several UO members' part), over the use of the word "phenomena" in my thread title. Bah. Everyone should just talk exactly the way I do.

Aiight!

Today I saw someone with Ohio plates with one of those "Cape Cod Tunnel" stickers on their bumper.  WE GET IT.  THERE'S NOT REALLY A CAPE COD TUNNEL.

That's what you think....

I don't like when a meeting is scheduled for a certain time, in a particular conference room and then one of the attendees comes down early and stands by your desk.....instead of going into the conference room.....and waiting for when other people come.....On Time.

Sounds like they don't want to go alone!

People who show their homes and don't clean.  Why would I or anyone else want to see a messy as house no matter how nice the bones are?  UGH!

Why do parents think they can tell you what to do even when your grown? WTH!

I had no idea this thread would be so wildly popular through the years, as an outlet to vent about petty stuff during your day-to-day grind. I should have set it up in a way that I could charge you motherf*ckers.

Hmm... "Dr. David." I think the title, "Doctor" is legally protected but it does kind of have a ring to it.
