No footprints this time. And it appears the offender made a tacit attempt to clean it up. I won't go into greater detail, other than to say it would have been better if he hadn't.

Rather than outrage, I'm starting to feel bad for whoever it is. This is clearly not an act of malice, but somebody having some issues.

Buy some Depends, and leave them in there as a hint.  Then look for the puffy pants the next day.

Well, keep us updated...

I'll avoid this during lunch.

People who leave their friends passed out drunk in odd places at the browns game deserve a special shaming. There were 15 to 20 people at any given time in the Cityview Club @ First Energy Stadium who were passed out and abandoned at a table or in a corner.

Most people were collected by their more sober friends at the end of the game, but what great friends!

I think I understand about 50-60% of your posts.

frankly, the more people understand me the more I am afraid. I knew a girl from Kettering who could finish my sentences.

eek!

Oh I'm royally pithed this week. On trash day I watched a 'homeless' man go up and down my street disassembling everybody's recycling can. He had a grocery cart in tow brimming with metal recyclables.

I await the day one of the neighbors or myself gets that you-aren't-recycling-enough fine in the mail. I have phone video footage of the guy just in case.

If that's not the most ridiculous government overreach ever, I'm not sure what is.

Is that real? I can see a too much trash ticket, but too little recycling? What if you go on vacation or buy lots of things without packaging?

The City of Cleveland is doing it.

Not very common in the US but other countries have steep fines for throwing out recyclables.

That doesn't really sound unreasonable, but the whole notion of having to produce a minimum amount of material or face a fine is very odd. Like if you only ate produce and fresh meat and didn't buy many consumer products for a while you get in trouble. Remember the 3R's are Reduce, Reuse and Recycle in that order. Well, screw the first two R's if you get fined for doing them.

Bingeaux.

I suspect what they are really trying to discourage is what I used to do in Maple.  If I'm going to be expected to clean and crush and prep aluminum cans and keep them separated, well then I'm going to get the money (as much as a dollar a pound depending on the markets) myself.  Not hand them over for free to an entity that charges to collect trash and harassed one of the biggest aluminum recycling plants in America out of business.

I wish Ohio would do the $.05 deposit like other states.  Cuts down on the litter and encourages recycling.

We used to. I always wondered why it stopped.

I recall collecting bottles as a kid, cashing them in, and then going to USA Skate to party like a rock star... (not)

Oh man, when the snorklewacker or whatever would come out was the best.

as an old basterd, I was able to collect bottles & get enough money to pay my share of gas $, pay my drive in admission & still be able to get pop, popcorn & a corn dog.

talk about rock star...

I hate the term, "baby steps".

I hate the phase "no brainer"

I cheated, of course.  I worked at the abovementioned recycling plant.  We didn't specialize in UBC but we used some, so it was just a matter of taking them to work.

I hate the phase "no brainer"

"OK people, taking baby steps here is a no-brainer."

and politicians saying they're going to roll up their sleeves...

Just wear T-shirts & save time, you fools!

If I see one more post on FB about something that "will melt your heart", my heart is going freeze

like = respect

ignore = hate

Yeah, baby steps is terrible. It's such bad advice! Act bold and fast I say. Baby steps encourages people not to take big risks.

From the blind rage department.

People that we invest months of training into, and lead us to believe they actually know WTF they're doing only to start doing totally stupid, and outrageous crap six months in that makes us all look like idiots, and force the higher ups to put in punitive controls, and make it a real PITA to fire them because we don't have months to train a new person.

  • 4 weeks later...

^yeah, & people who get $$$ training & then quit...

Today, however, it's People Who Waste Salespersons' Time.

I got a sister taking some young chick out on a snipe hunt of a real estate search. I've seen older agents fire my sister but this young devotchka doesn't know better so she's skipping time with her kids hoping her flake of client will actually buy a house. She's already lost money for the time that she's put in.

oh, and don't get me started on how she treats car sales people.....

What kills me on this is that our dad was a Realtor & she KNOWS how much family time he sacrificed.

I guess it's maybe more of people who don't respect that other people have lives, but high price tag sales people seem to really get it bad in these instances.

At least from this chick....

It's incredibly hard to get a person to be at a certain place at a certain time.

People who take pride in hating sports. Just because you don't follow sports doesn't mean they are stupid. I don't go to the casino, attend ballets, noodle, or hunt but I don't go out of my way to knock down those who do.

Do people get too intense about sports? Of course. But that doesn't make sports bad. People need to get over themselves.

I used to hate sports & jocks.

Then I took up bicycling & realized I was involved in sports/athletics.

I used to proudly hate sports. When I lived abroad, it became a nice outlet for feeling a connection with America (and Cincy) to watch baseball and football, kind of like going to a burger joint -- indulging in little pieces of Americana feels great.

But I still hate a lot of things about sports. I see why people are smug about it. I mean, just look at the stadium deal. And the Yankees' WS record. And the commercialization of college sports (combined w/ NCAAF becoming the de facto minor league to the NFL). This is all especially heinous to someone who doesn't even enjoy watching games.

^I agree with you on all of your complaints. There are a lot of problems with sports in this country (and others). But making fun of large groups of people just for following sports is a waste of effort. Smugness is never a valued trait and it makes people (me) think less of people who do it. Glad to hear you have turned to the good side, natninja!

The people that I know that tend to "hate things" tend to have the narrowest interests IMO.  I don't waste my time with these people.

We did a company outing to watch a baseball game and one my coworkers wouldn't come because they didn't like MLB games.  Really that's your reason?  As opposed to socializing with friends and coworkers?  Why not just enjoy the free experience, free food and beer and get to know the people you work with better?  Oh never mind. Don't waste the time.

The airlines have it bass ackwards... Charging for checked bags has made everyone purchase the tiny suitcase to shove in the overhead bin. Inevitably it takes a half hour to get off the plane because everyone spends 3 minutes blocking the aisle putting their coat back on, getting their one suitcase down, and then getting their large purse or backpack, then checking their watch, then looking at their ticket; while everyone behind them attempts to master telekinesis in an attempt to crush their tiny, clueless brain.

My friends, you should be charged by every bag you take on the plane. Anything that doesn't fit in your pocket is now $20. The goal would be to load and unload the plane in 5 minutes at either end.

I stick to carry on because the airlines are always losing my baggage when I give it to them.

Allow me to add to this:

Rule #2:  If you can't lift your carry on bag yourself, you have no business bringing it on the plane.  We are not all here to help you.  We are not part-time airline employees.  They have people for that.  Check your bag.

Rule #3:  If you are seated in row 38 and are too lazy to carry your bag to the back of the plane, please don't bring it at all.  Those of us in row 10 would like overhead space as well.  You brought your bag all the way from home, through security and through the airport.  Are you that f&*$ing fat and lazy that you can't carry it an extra 20 rows?

I've been of the opinion for a while that they should do away with overhead bins completely. If it doesn't fit in your pockets or under your seat, you should check it and pay the damn fee for not packing appropriately. People bring way too much damn stuff when they travel.

Get ready for an increase in driving vs. flying if that's going to be the case.

Personally I was always a fan of the Gate Checking they do for commuter jets.

How about they just make the people who bring bags on sit at the back of the plane?

I'm restoring my house.  It wasn't designed by an architect of note, but it is almost all original.  And, I plan to keep it that way, as much as possible.  But, some neighbors--who are perfectly nice people, otherwise--bought a house that was designed by a local architect of note. (for those who care, the same guy who designed the Mahoning Count courthouse, and the former Isaly Dairy headquarters, Charles Owsley)  Their house did need more work than mine, but most of the original features were there.  However, instead of trying to restore it, they are turning it into a modern, open-concept nightmare.  The original kitchen was too small, so their new kitchen is going where the dining room was, which is now in the same room as the living room, because they removed the wall between the two.  They aren't limiting themselves to the interior, either.  The husband told me he wants to take off the original wood shake siding from the second floor, and put up stone veneer, instead. (1st floor is stucco on brick)  To their credit, they have saved all of the quarter-sawn oak woodwork that they removed.  They tell me it's in a pile in their attic.

Those kind of people deserve to banished to McManionland for life.

Ugh, stone veneer. Can you talk him into hardiboard shingles at least?

Are the opening a wall between the kitchen and dining or did they make it one room? I've seen a few galley kitchens walls opened into a large formal dining rooms that worked well.

My mother in law sold her house in Shaker this summer. You would be amazed how many people came in to look and b!tched to the realtor about it not having central air, or an enormous kitchen / open floor plan. I mean, if you want those things, that's great, but don't look at a Shaker tudor for @#$%'s sake.

Central Air is such a common retrofit that I'd somewhat expect it in a house, but I agree that you shouldn't expect an open floor plan in an older house unless it's been significantly redone (and thus has lost most of its charm.)

As long as I can demand brown shag carpet, wood paneling, wallpaper that's a picture of a waterfall, a trash compactor and burnt orange appliances, they can demand that historic housed get Mc'ed. Oh wait... my demands are "silly" and theirs aren't.
