Posted September 5, 200816 yr Promoter building on Mason tourney success Business Courier of Cincinnati - by Dan Monk The man who brought pro beach volleyball to Cincinnati is now looking at expanding the concept by adding new events in other cities and doubling the local audience capacity at the Lindner Family Tennis Center in Mason. Reach USA founder Bob Slattery, the local promoter for the AVP Tour event, said this year’s AVP Crocs Cup Shootout sold a record 32,000 tickets. “There’s never been an event in the history of the AVP Tour that has sold this many tickets,” Slattery said. “We’ve got no beach, no ocean. We’ve got no mist, no salt in the air. And yet here we are with record sales.” Slattery said he has reached a verbal agreement on a sponsorship deal with a local Fortune 500 company that will let the tournament take over the center’s 10,000-seat stadium court next year. This year’s event, over Labor Day weekend, staged its finals in the 5,000-seat grandstand. Slattery declined to name the potential sponsor but said the deal would involve a ticket purchase guarantee of up to 2,000 seats. February 13, 200916 yr AVP promoter taking tour to Steel Town Business Courier of Cincinnati - by Dan Monk The local promoter of Mason’s annual pro beach volleyball tournament plans to trade Louisville for Pittsburgh this year in an ongoing quest to expand the Ohio River Valley’s appetite for the AVP Crocs Tour. Reach Event Marketing struck a two-year deal with the Pittsburgh Steelers to bring the 150-player tour to Heinz Field over the July 4 weekend, starting this summer. “They’re in the event business, too. They heard about all the success we’ve had in Mason and they contacted us,” said Mario Cicchinelli, director of Reach Event Marketing, a subsidiary of Reach USA, a direct marketing firm based in Blue Ash.
