I think Westwood has so much potential!      I just wish the local media and even city council thought the same thing.  I personally see 80% of Westwood still in good shape.  The housing stock has been kept up for the most part.  The McHenry Ave area has been the thorn in Westwood's side as far as the bad perception that everyone sees on the news.

Westwood is a suburban neighborhood of Cincinnati, Ohio. Westwood is Cincinnati's largest neighborhood, and the population of 35,730 makes it the most populous within Hamilton County (2000 Census). It is located north of Price Hill, west of Fairmount, and southwest of Mount Airy.

Westwood was incorporated on September 14, 1868. It was originally established as a desirable residential neighborhood, included as part of the expansion to Cincinnati's growing inner-city population. Many of Cincinnati's wealthy industrialists built their homes in Westwood, including Procter & Gamble founder James Gamble.

Westwood's main thoroughfares (specifically Harrison Avenue and Boudinot Avenue) feature many uniquely large and decorative houses, while surrounding streets include a mixture of apartment homes and housing, as constructed by the large number of German immigrants who settled in the Cincinnati vicinity. The area's growth continued steadily for many decades, becoming a residential haven for many of Cincinnati's blue-collar workers, and leading to additional development in the surrounding neighborhoods. The adjacent city of Cheviot, Ohio is also one of the oldest suburban communities in Hamilton County.

Nearby Mount Airy Forest is Cincinnati's largest park, and is one of the largest municipal parks in the United States, encompassing approximately 1,470 acres of land.

The last shots including Glenmore and Cheviot Savings are in Cheviot corporate limits, correct? I just grabbed a bunch of Cheviot and Westwood pics last week; now I won't have to post Westwood.

Good shots!

Yea they are.  Still working on tagging them!        Throw yours on here if you want!!    I know your camera (and skills) are much better than mine!  (I'll admit I'm an amateur)    I'd love to see them.

Well, it is the city's largest neighborhood!

Great tour, thanks.  I'm not a huge fan of the town hall.  It seems to be unorganized and lacking in ornament (for it's age) but it's still a nice place.  Does anyone else love this addition though?  I think it's a fantastic nod to the original without mocking it like most pomo buildings do.

^That is actually Cheviot Savings Bank, formerly Cheviot Building & Loan.

I've never seen Westwood before... and it looks kind of nice!

I love Westwood and Cheviot.  I think if I ever moved back to Cincinnati I could see my self living there.

You didn't do Westwood justice.  It has a lot of absolutely amazing streets and housing stock.  Thanks for sharing though...love me some Cheviot.

I agree.  I think most of Westwood looks very nice.  I'm always surprised when my friends from the west side of town refer to it as bad and as a place to leave.  It kind of makes me sad because the schools I attended for grade school and high school are in Westwood (I think even my pre-school is there as well).

I am always amazed at how clean the restrooms are at the Westsider.  I know at one point they even had hand lotion in the women's restroom!

^I would guess Mercy to be one.

Yup.  Also Lourdes for grade school and Midway for kindergarten.

Agree, I am hoping Ink could add some of his fine work sometime soon!        I don't do the photography thing that so many on here are great at.

Oh, screw that!  Keep takin' photos and keep posting them!

it's like a much larger, slightly more upscale version of Pittsburgh's Westwood... yay
