I've seen these on some buildings:

I recognize that model and I don't think that's the right model #?

Thanks for posting.  I never thought I would be nostalgic for such a device.

Since I showed you what it's like, do you know of any Thunderbolts near you? If so, post them here. Sorry if I keep asking because I like tornado sirens.

Which model? Is it a 1000 or 1000T?

Isn't this a repeat???  Or am I having a stroke?

repeat.

I just read about a siren.  Is this a different siren?  :wtf:

What is with this strange fascination with Thunderbolt sirens?

When I was living in Brook Park, I think they had a siren there that would go off whenever a storm was headed their way. Not sure if it's still in use/existence.

Which model? Is it a 1000 or 1000T?

Actually, it was a 2000 JR. I'm not for sure though.

This is if you want to learn about sirens besides the thunderbolt.

What's the thunderbolt?

An outoor warning siren built in 1952 and discontinued in 1990.

I knew that ... I was just testing your knowledge.

Who knew there would be 610 registered members on a forum about sirens?

Actually, Adam Pollak is deleting accounts.

I never paid attention to the siren before.  I didn't even know it was there until I took this picture.

Cincinnati has dozens of those

Cincinnati has dozens of those

Youngstown has more than just this one.  It's just the only one I've seen.

For some reason, they test them every Saturday at noon, and I can hear 2 or three of them from my house.

Speaking of every Saturday, Melvindale, MI tests at 1:00. They have a Thunderbolt 1003.

Have you seen this siren?

It's also likely to be replaced soon.  :-(

Speaking of sirens, there is a siren ontop of Park Place at Lytle. Can one of you try to take a shot of that one?
