So heres the situation im in right now, Ive a first date tonight downtown with this girl in my class, I let her pick the date since i had to cancel the previous 2 times we had set, and figured if i cancelled/moved the date for a 3rd time my chances with this one would pretty much be gone. Well of course, my luck she picks thursday and the reservation is made for 7:30, plans for going to UO Happy Hour are pretty much shot down. cd-cleveland i have your number from the last happy hour, if i can talk her into staying downtown after dinner ill phone ya and hopefully meet up with everyone if your still out.

I swear im gonna make it to one of these eventually, haha!!

you will have to report on your experience with the wait staff.  my wife and I received such lousy service from one of their waiters last weekend, I may never go back.

I took a few photos and yes, I'll eventually post them but I have to say that I was really impressed by 1. how many people showed up, and 2. that everyone seemed just as willing to engage in good conversation in "real life" as they are online. Even those who aren't forumers were engaged in lively but respectful conversation but it was all good.

 

I have to admit I always worry that a forum meet will result in a few people sitting in embarrassing silence and that was definitely not the case here. Everyone got the chance to put a face to some of the screennames and as I've always found, that helps you get a better feel for where someone is coming from. And whether someone was newer or a long-time forumer, everyone seemed to get along and have plenty to chat about. A special thanks to cle2032 for giving us the prime spot and to Jay our server who was kept *very* busy, and to Bar Cento/Bier Markt, our welcoming hosts. :-)

I meant to say hi, but I couldn't really identify who anyone was and didn't want to risk walking up to a group of people and saying "Hi!  I'm SHS96!" and having them look at me and say "who the F names their kid some random letters and numbers?" ...

 

So I stuck to the other random group of people I didn't know :)

it was really nice meeting everyone, and seeing some familiar forumers again. I am dreadful retaining faces so I hope I can say Hi if I see you all out on the street or what not.  My track record is poor for making these events, but when I have, I enjoy putting faces to screen names.  I also liked how people remembered old, perhaps controversial, posts other memberss made. Redbrick quickly reminded me just how walkable Fairview Park is  :wink:

 

 

Oh.My. Gosh! I had so much fun last night, thank you Musky for bringing me and introducing me to such a terrific group of people. I think I will pencil you all in to my schedule from now on. I just wanted to thank you all for being hospitable.
