Unfortunately there's no dancing during the day, I'm pretty sure.  I don't think they have the live band out in the tent until the evening hours. but if there is dancing, I'm game!

So where exactly are we meeting?

So where exactly are we meeting?

I believe RnR is going to have a table with a sign, but I'll let her explain.

We were planning on lunchtime as well.  I can make a sign and try to find an empty table - how about near the bar/loukoumades/dessert corner of the room?

re-post

Going to Put in Bay or would join you.

Just down Fairfield at W. 11th you will find SouthSide, Parallax and the new Record/Coffee shop Loop.

One block further east at 10th you will find a Cookie and a Cupcake...Professor Ave dead ends into 10th at this point.  Along professor you will find most of name restaurants in Tremont:  Lolita, Lago, Dante, Farenheit, Ty Fun, as well as bars: the flying monkey, Edison's, the tree house.  You will also find the Banyan tree (which my wife, who moved here from Manhattan,  tells me is good boutique shopping)  and the Ice cream shop Scoops.

At the corner of 11th and Kenilworth (one block south of 11th and Fairfield)  is the Civilization coffee shop and Lincoln Park Bistro.

Sprinkled in between all of these are numerous art galleries.

You might want to park and meet up around one of these and make the short walk to the festival.  If you go at one of the busy times It will be crowded, it will be hard to find parking close in, and it might be hard to find a table.

One man's humble opinion....

I have never had trouble finding parking around lunchtime at the festival, and tables are easy to come by at this time too.  Just fyi for those of you who haven't been to the festival before.  Just park anywhere around the church in tremont and walk up.

I hope there will be a sign. I mean that is of course we can't figure out why there is a table with the puzzling combination of  some internet geeks and along with a few exceptionally cute babies and toddlers.

I did make a table sign, it's got the UO logo and also says urban ohio in big letters, both on a blue background.  Now I just need to find and secure a table.  If you get there before me and see a mom and dad and baby with a sign looking for a place to alight, that's us.

Oh, and I'm really bad with names, and even worse when meeting people from the internet, so I suggest we introduce ourselves by our nicknames and then real names.  What do you guys think?

agreed. well lets say our real names but only expect people to remember screen names. One time I went to one of these and all the males had the same name.  ...Tom I think, so I get your drift.

I won't be able to make it this time :(.  Lots of weekend plans already.

I don't see any messages what restaurant/bar this is. Which one is it?

I can't promise I will make it. But if I make some good progress on work-related writing I can sneak away.

We're meeting at the Greek Festival in Tremont.  Hope you can make it!

I was planning on going to the festival with some friends, so I might stop by.

On my way over.  Looking forward to meeting everyone!

Sorry, I'm going to have to take a pass. I'm backed up with work.

Thanks to those who came, I had fun meeting everyone.  We had Hts121 and family, peabody and husband, MurrayHill and a friend plus me and mr. RNR with little RNR in tow.

Nice meeting you guys as well. I enjoyed talking to everyone (we actually could do that gvien the size of the group).

We usually go a couple times over the weekend since it is so close. For people interested the daytime is laid back and mellow, but the evening is crowded but high energy and has the music and dancing.

Just wanted to echo I enjoyed this past meeting, and I look forward to more in the future!

Nice to finally meet you all.

the good news is all the forumers and their offspring were as good looking as they claimed to be...

Sorry I had to bail. I ended up having to replace a leaking toilet at my double...GRRR... I hope everyone had a good time...

We enjoyed meeting everyone as well.

RnR - your baby boy is a cutie and seems like a genuinely happy baby.  Looks like you are doing a good job.

Peabody - You two seem like a great couple and I hope you decide to stay.  We don't have too many southern gentlemen like your husband 'round these parts.

Murray - Thanks for your service and good luck down the homestretch.  Also, good luck finding your way back home.... I know, from personal experience, it is easier said than done.

Thanks for the compliment about little RNR!  It was great meeting everyone and putting some faces to the names.  It's hard to engage in much adult conversation with the baby around, but we still had a great time (and enjoyed stuffing our faces).

If anyone is interested in a meetup at the mid-June festival at St. Demetrios or the one at St. Paul's in Broadview Heights, let me know as we will be going.

st. demetrios: June 17-20, 2010: Tuesday & Sunday - 11 a.m.-10 p.m.; Friday & Saturday - 11 a.m.- 11 p.m.

st. pauls - July 15 - 18, 2010

is this still going on? this sounds fun :)

Yeah, it still exists, we're just lazy bums about it :-D.

Is there one in the works at all? I just moved to town and would love to get out. The only thing stopping me is that pesky stigma about drinking alone.

Wait there is a stigma about that? :)

I am interested, hopefully I can make it this time.

I'm interested!  If we do one on a Tue, Wed or Thur, I might be able to make it.  (or, if you don't want me there, be sure to plan it on a M or F, KJP.  Ha ha)

Tuesdays and Wednesdays work better for me.  Thursdays I'm only free till 7.

I may actually be able to make one of these if it's on a Tuesday or a Wednesday.

Tuesdays would be best for me.

Normally Tuesdays are good for me (except this week). But if we want to plan for a UO Cleveland Happy Hour, next Tuesday will work fine for me. All I need is my Diet Coke and a place to sit.

If we're OK with Tuesday Sept. 28, where shall we meet? I like the bar (and the food) at Zocalo because you can watch "the show" on East Fourth from its big front windows. If the weather is nice we could also sit outside.

Next Tues @ Zocalo works for me.

Next Tuesday should work for me but it depends on my wife's work schedule.

I could do next Tuesday.  What time?

5p?

Hmm, Tribe's in town, so I guess I'll have to drive home and walk over.  I probably won't be able to make it until 6 then.

Umm the tribe game shouldn't be a problem. I was there Thursday night and there were about 6000 people... :)

Although 6 would be the earliest I could make it...

Docbroc, I wouldn't worry about the Tribe game "crowd" interfering.

Will we be meeting outside of the restaurant?

This is a possibility for me - no earlier than 6, though. In the past, I think the first person(s) to arrive grab a table in the bar area for four to six, but mention to the host that there 1. might be more arriving, and 2. we'll need separate checks. And if people just want to drink, fine. If people want to eat, fine - it's very informal and no need to wait for anyone to start the festivities :-)

I may join you.

I mean more along the lines of parking being more expensive, since I could just drive straight there from work instead of going home first.  But I'll just go home and be a real urbanite and walk :-D.

Sorry guys.  I'm out for Tuesday.  I've been scheduled for an interview for a Neighborhood Connections grant that evening.  Have fun, though!

How late will you guys be there? I would love to join, but ill be flying into Akron returning from a work related trip. I think i land at 6:15ish, so it'd prob be 7-7:30pm before i could make it... If i dont make it this time there's always October i suppose :)

We should be able to get on-street parking within a few minutes walk of the area. Of course, there's lots of transit in that area....

Don't worry about being late.
